Good Morning Everyone! What are you all up to today?

I've been up a while, pottering round, since boy dickhead kitten got me up at 7am <sigh>. I've just put the washer on & sat down to finish my cuppa while I decide what to do next.

We haven't got much planned for today really. I'm off to see Gracie Abrams with the girls in just over 2 weeks so we're going to make some bracelets to hopefully trade with other fans. And I want to try and remove a very small logo from a sweater so I can diy it with some sparkly bows.

Other than that, just a day of pottering really. I'll get a shower at some point - couldn't be arsed last night - and maybe wander up to the local pub for an hour or two with friends. Right now I cba with that either but may feel different at 7pm, who knows 🤷‍♀️.

What about all of you? 🙂

Painting miniatures (Warhammer). I’ve set the whole day aside to do it.

Then going out for a curry.

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 15/02/2025 09:00

I'm one week post appendix removal so just taking it easy as I've done every day since I got out of hospital. Think I hugely underestimated this operation! When the drs came to the ward with the results of my scans/blood tests and explained the key hole surgery I was like "oh this will be no bother".........oh how the mighty have fallen lol Nevermind I'm getting better everyday and that's all that matters. Any tips from anyone who has had the same or similar surgery?

itsallbowlsbaby · 15/02/2025 09:01

Morning! I've been away with work this week and DH has been doing solo parentis so I'm giving him a break. Taking DS into town for breakfast then a bit of shopping, then it's his swimming lesson. Tonight I'm going to see the new Bridget Jones film with friends and out for dinner at a new pizza place afterwards!

IceIceBabyBump · 15/02/2025 09:04

Hello!

I managed to get the dog out for 10 minutes for a dump so that's a good start to the day.

We'll head to Morrisons to buy all the things we ordered in the online shopping that they're not bringing. Totally defeats the object of online shopping but at least I can get a toffee Danish from Cooplands while I'm out.

Then making a curry this afternoon.

Then calling my mother.

Then wine, curry and Gladiators.

Topsy44 · 15/02/2025 09:08

Good morning All.

Got up quite early for a Saturday, actually felt like I had a decent nights sleep for once. I had a day off yesterday as DD had an inset day tagged on to start of half term so we had what I like to call a ‘recovery day’ from school and work where basically we just potter about the house doing what we like - was bliss and think helped me drift off into a deep sleep.

We’ll be going to see my Mum for the day shortly so McDs for lunch today and then home early evening for Gladiators and Michael McIntyre.

Simonjt · 15/02/2025 09:08

My husbands got some new work shirts so I’m moving the buttons to the other side and sewing velcro on so he can get them on and off himself. The dog has old stolen three bits of velcro so far.

He’s out with the kids, our son has dance at the same place our daughter has some physiotherapy, so he’s sorting that today.

I’ve been away since last weekend so I need to get all my clothes that I took away with me washed and sorted. Later we’re going to indoor karting.

@Whiskyfromsmallglasses yep, its no joke! I hope your recovery goes well, pleasebe mindful to take things slow in the first few weeks when you do feel well.

CatteryCatss · 15/02/2025 09:11

Good morning!

We’ve had a bit of a lazy day, so I’m about to have some breakfast.

We’re planning on tidying upstairs, which will take ages. My partner has been using the office as a dumping ground. It’s so bad that we can barely walk in there. I’m not in a good mood at all because I’ve just seen the state of it. There are piles of clothes everywhere, which my partner has left around etc. My partner can sort that out.

I’ll tidy up and clean our bedroom instead. I’ve already decluttered through the socks and underwear drawer.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 15/02/2025 09:12

Taking the children to the stables so I can stand around and freeze while they sort the horse out and then going to tui to book a summer holiday. I am far more excited about the latter.

Really fancy a doner kebab for dinner, I'm just getting over pneumonia and haven't really eaten for weeks so may give in to the craving.

frozendaisy · 15/02/2025 09:14

H & youngster didn’t get the match cancelled although I think they might drive half hour say hello and turn back, still that gives me another half hour, so the coffee has almost brewed then I’M back to cosy duvet with a Zadie Smith book and a coffee for a bit.

Need to prune back some trees in garden. It’s time! I actually like playing with saws, good work out, must remember gloves otherwise it’s splinters’r’us.

Start of half term here, so let GCSE have a lie in.

Usual additional teen later. Might bake a tray bake chocolate sponge.

Think H said something about brunch out but it’s still just above freezing here although it seems next weekend Spring might attempt to make an appearance so why not leave it until then?

popandchoc · 15/02/2025 09:17

I will be taking DD2 to tap in a bit. Then she has a party at a crazy golf place. Also need to go and get some balloons for my mums birthday.
Will also try and clean bathroom at some point and then a chilled evening hopefully.

GameOfJones · 15/02/2025 09:18

Morning all. I've been up since 7am but haven't been very productive. I've mainly been reading and drinking coffee and just generally enjoying the slow start.

DDs have had buttered crumpets for breakfast and have had time on their tablets but are now playing with their toys in the living room. I fancy a quiet day to start off half term as life has been hectic recently.

I have to walk into town before 12 to pick up a parcel from the post office so may take DDs for a hot chocolate somewhere but other than that I think it'll be a slow day. I need to wash the bedding as I stripped and changed our bed last night but the old set is currently plonked on the floor of the bedroom so I'll get that washed and stored away.

I fancy a hot bath later and will be watching Gladiators and The Masked Singer. Spicy sausage pasta and garlic bread for dinner and probably a couple of G&Ts.

Hedjwitch · 15/02/2025 09:19

Had planned to clean out the greenhouse and sow some seeds, but it's minus 1 with sleety rain, so will abandon that idea.
Still in bed.

butterfly0404 · 15/02/2025 09:20

Lunch with 3 friends at a gorgeous country pub in the South Downs at 1pm, visiting another friend a 4 to discuss sewing projects (new hobby) and out at 7 with DH to watch him play guitar in his band. A pretty full on Saturday and I'm still in bed !

JMAngel1 · 15/02/2025 09:27

Good morning!
It’s half term and I have the whole week off for once (NHS so have to literally beg for annual leave) - I’ve not had a full week off work since last June so just looking forward to 9 days of relaxation.
I’m in bed with a huge mug of tea reading my book and listening to winter classical music. I have a candle on and it is bliss.
I’m going to do an LED mask and my nails shortly and then a quick tidy around.
Get ready for day and go pick up DD1 from a sleepover then take both DDs to a lovely town for a wander - we don’t often go as it’s a little further afield but it’s worth it.
Then go and visit my Dad and brother.
Then back for a pamper and get ready for a Valentine’s dinner with DH to the lovely local Italian.

Have a lovely day everyone.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/02/2025 09:35

Good morning @lucysmam and all. I had a good night's sleep last night which was really nice. Nothing planned for today apart from the usual laundry, so I may carry on reminding/teaching myself some knitting/crocheting skills. Middle grandson wants to learn how to knit and we are having him for 2 days next week over half term, so I thought I had better make sure I know what to do before he gets here! I taught myself Tunis stitch from a YouTube video yesterday. It looks nice but it's a bit of a faff! Especially if you only have standard length crochet hooks like me. I'm not going to try to learn anything complicated. If middle grandson really wants to learn advanced stuff then we can learn together. We might go out to trawl the charity shops for wool later on. It's so expensive to buy!

We have some extra thick premium quality pork chops to eat tonight. They were expensive so I don't want to dry them out. I'm thinking about cooking them sous vide and then finishing them off in a pan. Has anyone tried to do anything sous vide at home? Without specialist equipment? DH asked what potatoes I would like so I'm hoping to have pommes parmentier. He wants frozen green beans so I guess that's what we are having. Everything else is my choice! Last night's Valentine's Day meal was ham egg and chips so we are making up for it today 😁. Mind you, we did go out for the most enormous breakfast!

DH said that he wanted to go out gardening this morning but it was raining too hard. It's a funny thing, but it always seems to be raining when he says he wants to do some gardening. For some very strange reason it never seems to be raining when he doesn't want to do gardening. Or maybe I should say, he never seems to want to do gardening except when it's raining.

I had some bad news during the week. As some of you may know, I am being treated for breast cancer. A few days ago my beloved sister rang me to ask what type of cancer I had, what treatment I have been receiving etc., as she has been referred to the two week wait service. She has had her first appointment and biopsies and I am hoping, desperately, that she doesn't have anything to worry about. It seems that her 'mass' is very small and there is no lymph nodes involvement so even if it is cancer she probably won't have to go through everything that I have had to go through - but it's still a horrible, and terrifying, thing to have to go through. Wish her luck everybody!

soccermum10 · 15/02/2025 09:37

Morning everyone,

Just had 2nd cup of coffee. So tired this week. Roll on half term.
Put a load in washer and then we're all off to the cinema to see Captain America.

Hope you all have a nice day 🙂

TheChosenTwo · 15/02/2025 09:38

Morning all.
Pottering about this morning, home alone so just about to put some washing on and unload the dishwasher.
nipping up to see mil.
Taking my niece and her 2 little ones out this afternoon then have a party to go to tonight.
Dh and ds are out at his football match.
dd stayed at her boyfriends last night so not sure when she will appear home!

NewYearNewDietAgain · 15/02/2025 09:43

Been awake most of the night (again!!) due to snoring DP. 😡 Today I'll mostly be lounging about in my Oodie whilst watching movies and eating snacks. Making the most of the silence for now as the rest of the house are still in bed snoring whilst I'm sat downstairs with coffee.

The best way to do something similar is to do a reverse sear, where you cook the chops in the oven on a very low heat to an internal target temperature and then give them a quick sear to caramelise the outside. I've never done pork this way, but have done steak lots of times.

This explains the technique, which you can vary as you like.

Sending good wishes that your sister gets the best possible news.

Namechangeforthis88 · 15/02/2025 09:53

Off to compete in a tournament in a somewhat niche team sport. Usually it's an early start and taking loads of kit but we are indoors for this one and it starts later so it is weird to have plenty of time to get ready. Don't know what to do with myself.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 15/02/2025 10:01

DH took DD swimming at 9 so I've changed the beds and put a wash on. They're picking me up after to go to stables then DD is going to Nanny's so DH and I can have a romantic bike ride for valentines 😂
Oh and I'm making moussaka for dinner.

daffodilandtulip · 15/02/2025 10:43

The bathroom saga continues. Lifting the floor tiles today. It's cold and wet and I just want to read my book! Telling myself if I do the whole floor then I can chill all day tomorrow...

Dog is still in bed, son is about to be collected by his uncle for a week staying with family. They live miles away so he does this for one or two half terms a year, it's lovely as we don't have much family (and it's the only time I'm ever alone!)

Will treat myself to a Chinese tonight. Haven't had a takeaway since Christmas Eve, as I've been losing weight and saving money but I really fancy it today.

OneLilacEagle · 15/02/2025 10:51

Morning all! I'm sitting in the hairdressers at the moment getting my roots done. But not sure what we are going to do with the rest of the day. We had a very busy week tearing round London last week and I still feel like I haven't quite shaken off the flu I had 2 weeks ago so I think a very quiet and low key day might be best! Husband is on call so we couldn't do anything too exciting anyway. A bit of telly, cross stitch and something easy for dinner, I think. Just need to think of some distractions for my 9 year old.

DancingDucks · 15/02/2025 10:56

In the car at the moment driving to Scotland (well obviously I'm not driving, DH is) for half term week. Looking forward to chilling, walks and not much else. Not fussed if it rains, doesn't bother me at all.

Lou16777 · 15/02/2025 11:00

Morning all!

Been a lazy day for me and DD today, we were up at 7 but apart from some washing and sorting out DDs wardrobe, we've had a slow morning of breakfast and playing with play dough. First day of school holidays is our rest day!
