Help. I shaved my face!!!!

beardednotlady · 14/02/2025 15:00

I was on my way out yesterday (in a huge rush) and noticed a couple of big chin hairs.

I couldn't find my tweezers and had no time to look thoroughly, so I picked up my razor and shaved them off.

Am I crazy? Is it really bad? Am I now going to be a bearded lady and grow a full beard? 🧔‍♀️

I started derma planing my peach fuzz. Worst mistake ever. Now if I don’t do it twice weekly, instead of soft focus peach fuzz, I have short spiked blond growth! The fuzz looked better.

mumda · 14/02/2025 15:37

I had a rogue one on my neck that I couldn't get with tweezers. It's not turned into a neck beard yet.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/02/2025 15:40

My teen dd shaves her face with these face shaver things. It’s the done thing apparently. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VRSTQ7Z?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I just roll my eyes.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 14/02/2025 15:40

Ummm what? Why would that happen?

2JFDIYOLO · 14/02/2025 15:49

Shaving doesn't trigger hair growth. What you will get is blunt ended hair regrowth which can feel bristlier and can look more noticeable. Shaving does give a nice exfoliation effect, removing dead skin cells.

gamerchick · 14/02/2025 15:51

I shave twice a day Grin I've got 26 hairs coming out of my chin and neck.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 14/02/2025 15:59

I think I have done some of my best thinking whilst squinting into a 20x magnifying mirror with a pair of tweezers

Dontbeme · 14/02/2025 16:01

I did this one time, and well now I look like this 😔

I use a men's 4 blade razor to do my peach fuzz once a week. Much better than dermaplaning. No stubble issues at all.

Zestywesty · 14/02/2025 16:06

I have really dark hair and shave off the peach fuzz every now and then. It's quite satisfying seeing it on the razor. I don't even soap, just splash a bit of water on.

It has very little effect, it doesn't grow back thicker and I don't think I can see a difference but I just like doing it every now and then!

Stripytablecloth · 14/02/2025 16:08

I never understand why people think that shaving means that all of a sudden much more, thicker, darker hair would grow. Where would be the science in that? All shaving is, is trimming a hair short. It simply can’t affect what else grows or even how that hair might grow back. As pp said all it can do is give it a blunter end

I know what you're saying BUT that blunt end, does it stay blunt ? Or go back to peach fuzz?

It’s a myth that shaving encourages hair otherwise bald men who shave would have think buddy hair and our kegs would look like cave women
when I shaved my face it felt stubbly at the side burns after 3 weeks

BloodandGlitter · 14/02/2025 16:36

I have a full blown beard if I don't shave every 3 days. Fuck plucking it'd take 2 hours to do mine!

beardednotlady · 14/02/2025 17:06

Just to remind a few posters that this was somewhat lighthearted.

I do appreciate that by shaving off two stubborn hairs, I'm not going to wake up looking like Hagrid!

If that was the case my husband, who shaves every other day, would look like someone from ZZ Top!

They will grow back blunt and stubbly but be brave and wait until they are long enough to tweezer out and all will be well.

They are not the same type of hair though. True peach fuzz is vellus hair. It doesn't thicken and is not coarse.

Beard hair is terminal hair. One can't turn into the other

Pigeonqueen · 14/02/2025 18:26

I shave my cheeks, chin and sides of my face every week. I think make up sits better without the soft fluffy hair I get. I’m 44 now but been doing it most of my adult life!

TheLionandAlbert · 14/02/2025 18:26

If shaving made hair grow back thicker, ta da! A cure for thinning hair.

It just feels worse because - stubble.

Shubbypubby · 14/02/2025 18:32

I've been shaving my face for 30 years. You'll be fine.
