Robinchat · 13/02/2025 22:23

Just had a belting curry, shared with other half (and loads left over that will get eaten tomorrow)
Onion bhajis and raita
Prawn puri
Poppadoms and mango pickle
Chicken dopiaza
Vegetable biryani
Garlic nan

Epic. Stuffed now.
What's your order?

@Robinchat
Rough and ready, formica tables and plastic chairs, but the food is always excellent! Never had a bad meal there yet and I've been going ten plus years! The samosas are gorgeous! DH has the veggie ones sometimes and they're nice too! There is lots of choice! (I think I should have been born in Asia, spicy food the only food that I don't have stomach problems with!)
Give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all! x

Tarkan · 13/02/2025 23:07

I've been a chicken pasanda person for ages but our favourite place does a range of speciality curries so I'm currently obsessed with their Punjabi korma which has got a much better flavour than the usual korma. I don't like tomato based curries but I still want spice to it which can be quite hard to find at times.

So I'll have a lamb Punjabi korma with a cheese and garlic naan please. No rice, the bread is enough for me. Grin

Onion Bhaji
Prawn Puri
Poppadums and Chutney Tray
Chicken Madras
Pilau Rice
Chicken Tikka Saag Balti
Mushroom Rice

Delicious. Enough for the next day too

We live rurally so can't get takeaways now, but we used to have : onion bahjis , prawn pathia puri, lamb pasanda, chicken sagwalla, mushroom pilau rice & keema naans.

TiredCatLady · 13/02/2025 23:57

Oooof!

Poppadoms
Chicken chaat puri
Prawn Puri
Chicken or Lamb Shatkora or Karahi
Prawn madras or vindaloo
Keema naan
Pilau Rice
Tarka daal
Cauliflower Bhaji
Saag Paneer

The veggie dishes cycle between the various side dishes on the menu depending on what’s on offer and what I fancy as tasty leftovers lunch for the following few days!
The above order will do us at least two dinners each and then four lunches between us so by the time you add in discount and free dishes it’s not stupidly expensive for effectively 8 meals. We get this maybe once every 6 weeks so it’s a treat where we order starters and sides because we feel like having a bit of them/some variety but every single bit is eaten over a couple of days.

**editing to say I added the above justification because I wrote it down and thought “fuck that looks like a lot of food without any context”. Now I’ve thought about it, I want a prawn puri but said takeaway is closed.

Printedword · 14/02/2025 00:04

Poppadums - onion salad, mango chutney
Plain paratha
Bombay aloo
Chicken tikka masala

I don't esp like rice

haggisaggis · 14/02/2025 00:10

Dh and I are already planning a takeaway for Saturday. The restaurant we like does thali - they give you 3 or 4 small portions of different curries with rice and naan. Although I’m not actually vegetarian I prefer veggie curries so will go for the vegetarian option. Already drooling at the thought.

TiredCatLady · 14/02/2025 00:29

@haggisaggis I miss having an option for thali nearby hence the eating it three days later order above.

Kottu roti, mutton rolls and cutlets are my idea of food heaven and the above only makes sense if you have eaten Sri Lankan food.

SiobhanSharpe · 14/02/2025 01:16

Lamb madras or jalfrezi for DH
Lamb ceylon (coconut/hot) or madras for me
One pilau rice
tarka dal
channa masala
sag bhaji
paratha (me) peshwari nan (DH)

Live in Cambridge, there's an excellent south Indian/Sri Lankan restaurant. Lots of really different dishes and I love masala dosai but it suffers if it's a takeaway, much better served in the restaurant.

Spoilt for choice in Bradford really!

A few years ago DH and I had a weekend in Bradford just for the Indian/Pakistani food. The nan breads were divine, served up on a sort of tall skewer arrangement.

Totally worth it. (And amazing value!)
We lived in Essex at the time so had good access to Brick Lane, Ealing Road Wembley etc. All excellent too.
