I’ve just re-waxed my Barbour jacket…

What about you?

I've just spent the afternoon making handmade tortellini filled with pheasant in a creamy white wine and Parmesan filling. Then I restocked the logs for the burner and took the Gundogs out in my Land Rover, wearing a schoffel gilet and a pair of le chameau wellies.

I shit you not 😂 my life is a complete stereotype!

On the same page here! Just come in from walking the dog in my Le Chameau wellies.DH has asked what the smell is and told him I’m cooking some of the pheasant he shot over Christmas for the dog 🤣

OrlandointheWilderness · 14/02/2025 17:09

@Theseventhmagpie 😂 lovely! What are you doing with it?

OrlandointheWilderness · 14/02/2025 17:09

Just saw it's for the dog - I'm assuming DDog is not fussy what happens with the pheasant 😂

scalt · 14/02/2025 17:26

@MegTheForgetfulCat Oh I know, I deliberately said it that way round. 😄 At the crown courts where I wear wig and gown netball courts where umpires and players wear uniforms, people often take a short cut across grass. For a tournament recently, the grass was roped off so people didn’t bring mud on the courts.

What a wanky thread

I believe it's called having a sense of humour and being able to laugh at oneself.

My contribution: I've cleaned the silver (knives and forks, etc) and had several email exchanges with an auction house about selling antiques.

Myoldbear · 14/02/2025 17:51

We went to an opera on Wednesday night.

@UnimaginableWindBird, no she has that and a vet health plan as well. When I had two cats, the other cat was on the health plan, and as I didn't need all the flea stuff. I put the mo ray the health plan would have cost, away for Penelope. And now she's an only, I've kept it going.
Penelope is a very middle class name for a cat. 🤣

I see your Penelope with a savings account and raise you Persephone with the same.

But yes, mine is in lieu of insurance.

Snowmanscarf · 14/02/2025 18:37

Love to contribute. Does having a Labrador count? Very Downton Abbey.

You get extra points for a Labrador. I've never met one that wasn't gorgeous😍

@Snowmanscarf aw - gorgeous , look at those sad eyes

My cat has her own savings account.

My cat has private health insurance!

murasaki · 14/02/2025 19:30

I think I may have outdone myself. We're at an Al Murray gig, and they offered at the bar to put an interval order in. Dp had never heard of such a thing, and I said that my parents used to do it at the opera and the ballet all the time.

Shoot me now.

DontforgetJuliette · 14/02/2025 19:33

@Snowmanscarf I rest my case. Totally gorgeous 😍

Most recent one is reading this thread and thinking "Hmm... Lot of nouveaux and lower middles on MN".

😂 😂

It's still a wanky thread. And it's not funny.

I don't think it's wanky. And I do think it's funny. Thank goodness we are not all the same, as the world would be a boring place.

Piglet89 · 14/02/2025 22:47

@Stealer do feel free to scroll on by jf it's annoying you.

Scrubberdubber · 14/02/2025 09:34

Why would you bother cracking out the fine china and bougie coffee beans just for one man who's in your house for ten minutes clearing the shit blockage out the toilet? Not that he's not appreciated, but he probably gets offered coffee at every house instant coffee is instant so can be done quickly for him. (Or her female plumbers exist)

The trades visiting our house are usually crafting some beautiful bespoke, under stair shelving or working on the annexe; They will be with us for for a while and we value their craft so will not insult them with offering cat piss coffee.

Why? Because you will feel less MC if I don't laugh at your bragging?

Piglet89 · 14/02/2025 22:53

@Stealer IDGAF what you think of the thread - whether you find it amusing or not. However, it does seem to be irritating you a lot, so it might lower your blood pressure just to ignore it and read something else. Just a thought.

Just ignore it like most of us do with most threads. Or are you feeling a bit insecure.....

Most commments are funny and in the spirit of the thread. The inferior coffee for trades comment was nasty and rattled my cage.

My contribution; ‘We need to talk
about the house keeper again’ to DH
