I'm assuming you are a high earner and pay into a pension, have significant savings & money left over to spend like this?

Normallynumb · 13/02/2025 09:29

Oh and you work in finance too?!!!
Have a nice day

but are you happy @user263758918

strange choice of user name imo

These types of posts are always from people with that type of username. Completely fabricated or an AI bot

Interesting to see how other people live. Are your beauty costs similar each month or was last month particularly high? (I am thinking of Botox but don’t want to get into committing to spending loads regularly!) Also - am curious, your job sounds well paid but do you manage still to work around school hours? You don’t have any childcare costs other than school fees?

I'd say January was particularly high.

Botox is only once every 3-4 months, I started by getting just 3 areas and if you find a good high street injector like Therapie then you're looking at £300ish maybe for the lot. On a monthly basis, that's not crazy.

For childcare, we have an after school nanny and in school holidays it's a mix of nanny, school camps, WFH, time off, the usual juggle.

Having lived in (relative) poverty and now earning well I had mixed feelings reading your post. Whilst I think you can spend your money on anything you wish, I found it quite queasy. All that money and what to show for it? Are you happy with how you spend it? You could make a real difference if you gave a regular donation to a charity of your choice.

And as someone who ended up as a single parent, I wish I had saved more of my own money as what I had ran out very quickly (hence the poverty). I really think you should too. Just in case.

Wow, does this mean that Katie Hopkins has actually been nothing more than a prototype AI bot for all of these years?!

Here's to hoping...

Don't tell any companies seeking to sign you up for monthly subscriptions; or charities trying to guilt you into a generous monthly donation.

The 'takeaway coffee' is their yardstick by how they justify any amount that they think you wouldn't even miss. They'll all be clamouring for you to hand over "Just £175 a month: that's actually less than you spend on coffee each month!"

To me that comparison makes no sense. They're comparing themselves to something that is quite expensive for what it is and if you're not careful you can end up sleepwalking into a costly habit that makes you wonder where all your money goes.

Anything sold on the 'cheaper than a cup of coffee' premise should be viewed as 'oh look, something else you don't need to waste your money on'.

Oh no, the usual exhortations to give to charity. And I say that as someone who both gives to charity and volunteers.🙄

Slow clap. This is excellent. @DalzielOrNoDalzielAndDontPascoe

And Melania doesn’t need rescuing. She’s an evil and knowing fascist too.

£1.3k on beauty treatments

gosh, I can only presume you look pretty awful without it.
surely you don’t need that level of treatment to look presentable?

Yep, that's quite a hefty chunk to spend each time on your monthly account at B&Q Grin

Honestly is there a need to be so nasty? You don’t know anything about this poster other than that spend more money than you and that fact alone makes you lash out. It’s pathetic.

ExercicenformedeZ · 13/02/2025 09:34

I understand, OP. Your husband is a footballer but you don't know that you want to stay where he is currently playing, so you rent.

Why is it wrong to suggest giving to charity? Genuine question.

MumblesParty · 13/02/2025 09:36

OP you know full well that 99.9% of people on MN earn significantly less than you. Why are you posting to tell us how rich you are? Is there something missing in your life that makes you need to boost your self esteem in this way, or do you just not give a shit?

WhatterySquash · 13/02/2025 09:36

Bloody Nora! I’m a single parent and not v well-paid (notoriously low-paid industry), and have to budget carefully (though not living in poverty). This has really made me feel good about my efforts! I feel a bit bad if I have coffee out more than once a week or splash out on new clothes instead of vinted… I feel like I’m doing well now.

of course there is nothing wrong with spending like this if you can afford it - it supports people’s businesses and wages. But I agree with PPs that a bit of financial planning wouldn’t go amiss.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 13/02/2025 09:36

£8355.37 - are you the prime minister? That is 4 months wages for me 😱

27Maisie27 · 13/02/2025 09:36

Bloody hell, is this a stealth boast about how much disposable income you have to fritter away on crap?

I would be embarrased to post such a list of expenditure on here, knowing so many people are struggling to make ends meet, or just about getting by.

If you were asking how to cut down on spending, then you'd get some useful replies, but you obviously don't want that, you just want people to know you are considerably wealthy.

Rewis · 13/02/2025 09:37

Well, op is not saying she's struggling or asking how to save.

Oldglasses · 13/02/2025 09:38

Is this for real?
Food - that's not a massively high amount - I prioritise good quality food over most other spends.
Coffee - Even one takewawy a day is only £90 approx per month at £3 a go.
Lunches/dinner - you must dine out a lot as your food bill isn't massive
DC - WTAF! I get school fees are expensive, but not that dear.
Beauty- I mean I get my hair cut/coloured ideally once every couple of months and it would be £90 per go. Nails are about £25-30. That's still falls way short even if you're doing that once a month. IDK how much botox is but I'm not interested in that.
Shopping - regular amount - I know ballet slippers are £££
Misc - if you don't know what you're buying, don't buy it!
Private dental - Can be v pricey if you need a lot of work.

So your food shop isn't the 'big shop' eek! That is a lot just for top ups.
And you rent - ,maybe there's a reason for that ie, bad credit but it looks like you could be a cash buyer from your frivoulous spends!

TwoFatDucklings · 13/02/2025 09:38

I can only conclude from this that you're running a commune. For this amount of food (not including the big shop! ) I'm going to suggest there are 10 adults living together in a haze of perfume and retanol. All of them wearing cucumber eyepatches and clay facemasks at all times.

JellyBeanFactory · 13/02/2025 09:38

And the reason for this post OP?

The prime minister couldn't afford this as he earns less.

I am sure OP can figure that out on her own. It's condescending, IMO. And has anyone ever contributed to charity after being told to on MN? 😂
