Gymnopedie · 13/02/2025 01:37

Filey thirded, no doubt about it.

Time40 · 13/02/2025 01:52

Filey is lovely, but Scarborough is really good too (and very sandy).

OneLoyalGreyFish · 13/02/2025 01:52

Reighton Sands is glorious, miles of sandy beach.
Filey’s nice, a bit further up the coast just past Whitby is Sandsend, that’s lovely.

letthemeatcakes · 13/02/2025 03:41

Hornsea

Zanzara · 13/02/2025 04:19

I love Filey. I know someone above said reighton - lovely walk from reighton (we went from the caravan park) to Filey (and there is a lovely beach cafe along the way (public parking at this bit too!)

Love Hornsea but not a sandy beach. Scarborough is nice on the north side (imo) and I love Bridlington on either side bug middle bit is a bit grotty / commercial.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 13/02/2025 06:52

We like Hunmanby Gap near Filey. Has parking, toilets and a cafe in season.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 13/02/2025 06:53

Hummanby Gap is beautiful.

Unfortunately the sea water quality is very poor in Scarborough, especially South Bay.

Filey, Reighton and Hunmanby Gap are all part of the same stretch of 7 mile long beach/bay.

Yes I know!

Twirlywurly2 · 13/02/2025 13:41

Definitely Fraisthorpe

salemcooper · 13/02/2025 13:59

We love Whitney but it's a bit further out.

salemcooper · 13/02/2025 13:59

Whitby! Sorry autocorrect.

SaffyWall · 13/02/2025 14:00

Filey (but don't go telling everyone - one of the loveliest things about it is how you can alway find some space)

The south end of Bridlington along to Fraisethorpe is nice too.

BluePansy · 13/02/2025 16:54

Wow sounds like plenty of choices then

Edited

Hornsea IS sandy! There’s a few stones and pebbles but it is mostly sandy. I go to it regularly as it’s only half an hour’s drive from my home where I’ve lived all my life.
