What is the nicest sandiest beach close to York ?

Agree Filey, and the whole bay is lovely. Scarborough, North bay particularly, Bridlington, if avoiding the town, and Whitby and Sandsend are all lovely too. Pretty decent coast!! And, not particularly sandy, but Robin Hoods Bay and Flamborough North Landing are gorgeous too!!

There is a very nice cafe upstairs at the Yorkshire Distillery in the village. Also the Cow Shed cafe at Fraisthorpe is very pleasant, you can sit inside or out and look at the sea.

Hunmanby Gap has a very steep walk down to the beach, I seem to remember, so worth bearing in mind if you have pushchairs, any mobility issues etc.

Filey, Fraisthorpe, North Beach Scarborough and Sandsend are great.
