What is THE definitive 80s song?

Might not be your favourite, but what song encapsulates the 80s for you?

We've been having a debate at work, and the consensus is it's got to be Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'.
It is the 80s right?
There can be no argument, it's got everything - weird music video, Bonnie's hair, makeup and fashion.
And the pure power ballad vocals 👌

Agree?

But there are soooo many genres from the eighties!

Yes! That's the beauty of it.
It will mean different things to us all.

Believe me when I say it we rehash this question more often than anything else here, and some of us get into a strop about it 😆

There are so many!
The one I was singing to myself yesterday that I love is 'Sun Goes Down' by Level 42.
It's so flipping cheesy but I adore it!
Livin it up, Livin it up, I can feel it...🤣

Blue Monday by New Order.

Just perfect synthpop. Everyone I know at school had a copy of the 12". If it is played today it is still guaranteed to fill the floor.

Living on a prayer...?

Final countdown by Europe

I personally don’t like the song, and I love lots of other 80’s songs but that one is the one that just comes straight to my mind when anyone says the 80’s

You've just reminded me of a happy memory, on my 11th birthday in 1988 I was given a radio cassette player, that was the first song I recorded onto a blank tape.
Also Duran Duran, A view to a Kill, best Bond theme.
I've recently decided Nik Kershaw, The Riddle is a good one, also the video.
