By this Saturday at 12.00pm. What does that even mean?

Why would Hamas not release the hostages

What's stopping them?

Hostages are probably deceased .
The released ones looked in very poor condition.

TheNoonBell · 11/02/2025 16:51

Release the sausages!

TheNuthatch · 11/02/2025 16:53

TheNoonBell · 11/02/2025 16:51

Release the sausages!

Oh my! I'd forgotten about that 🤣

MushMonster · 11/02/2025 17:09

In the case of Gaza, I do not think Trump is bluffing.
It has been great to see hostages finally freed and reunited with loves ones. And a glimmer of hope for a proper peace process. But I have lost hope now. I think it will return to full on bombing.

tobee · 11/02/2025 17:12

I'm a middle class lefty. I'm not Jewish. I absolutely think the Israeli hostages should be released.

I'm so sick of the virtue signalling and making out there's only one side suffering. BOTH sides are suffering. Yet only the Palestinians suffering is what counts.

Where's people's humanity if they can't see both sides?

tobee · 11/02/2025 17:15

dairydebris · 11/02/2025 13:53

Just release them then. No annihilation.

Hilarious that you think there was no annihilation before the hostage situation happened, and will be none it they are freed? Israel has been annihilating Palestinians in Gaza on an almost annual basis. The hostages are a distraction and excuse to allow Israel to massacre with impunity.

We all want the hostages released, that's why so many people are pissed of at Trump and Netanyahu for screwing it up.

tobee · 11/02/2025 17:18

Oh well that's a handy reason to keep them @Sixpence39 👍

tobee · 11/02/2025 17:22

But you rarely hear people commenting that it's both sides @MissyB1; and they are rarely challenged. Netanyahu is a war criminal and Hamas are terrorists who's stated aim is kill all Jewish peoples. Both are running their countries and both their people have suffered.

Aliflowers · 11/02/2025 17:24

dairydebris · 11/02/2025 13:36

Hang on. You think the Palestinian people should get something in return for returning the hostages?

Yes for Israel to stick to the terms of the cease fire which they’re not doing.

Oh hello!
I don't find any of this hilarious and am surprised to hear that you do.
I'm not sure you understand the word annihilation either? If they've been annihilated then surely we don't need to worry about further annihilation as they've already all been annihilated?
I'm also surprised to hear that you think the hostages are a distraction. Would you be prepared to say that to the families faces?

Your post is too riddled with misunderstandings of this situation to properly engage with.

The point remains. Gaza is now being threatened with annihilation. Why not release the hostages and avoid more annihilation? Or do you think Hamas should keep the hostages to help them avoid further annihilation?

TheWitchwithNoName · 11/02/2025 17:27

TheNuthatch · 11/02/2025 15:18

No, absolutely not. I want to see them all released. But I recognise that the hostages are the only shield the Palestinians have left. Hamas are revolting but the palastinian people are innocent. They are facing annihilation or displacement.

What about the 2,000 that entered Israel with Hamas? They’re not innocent

Oh I agree Hamas and the Israeli Government are two cheeks of the same arse as far as I'm concerned. It's innocent civilians I'm concerned about.

Israel has been annihilating Palestinians in Gaza on an almost annual basis.

What do you mean here? That Israel had made repeated attempts to annihilate Palestinians in Gaza, before 7.10?

tobee · 11/02/2025 17:36

I hate what Netanyahu is doing

I hate that there's (sometimes) an unspoken addition to that from some people "... so a few Israelis being held hostage is not worth worrying about"

Trump is a dreadful man too and he's not going to make the situation in the ME in any way better. I wish the world could concentrate on sticking together against him and his treating his presidency and the rest of the world as a great business opportunity which is beyond despicable

bombastix · 11/02/2025 17:43

I think there is a fair chance the remaining hostages are in a very poor state or dead.

Trump is saying produce them or be obliterated. He's not bothered about international law. Hamas have a US president who doesn't give a damn about the two state solution, who would rather allow Gaza to be razed to the ground like Aleppo and then he can build a casino on it.

Hamas are finished anyway, but this is just the fig leaf to allow US occupation.

OwlInTheOak · 11/02/2025 17:47

I don't think hamas have any more left. They said they didn't have 40 alive during discussions before, and the last 3 looked in a bad enough way, I can't imagine there's many or any more left alive. I'd assume trumps worked this out too but obviously sounds like he's got plans that he's working towards.

DancingButterflies · 11/02/2025 17:49

Aren’t Hamas a terrorist organisation? Why do they deserve diplomacy? They should absolutely be told to release the hostages, no ifs or buts.

Anyway, I’d see this as indirect diplomacy, a last chance, or increased pressure and Trump letting some bad people know what side he’s on.

Exactly. How did we get so ass backwards?

Hamas have been vowing to annihilate the Jews for decades. To remove every last one of them. But you don't mention that do you?

If Israel had truly wanted to annihilate the Palestinians of Gaza do you think they could have?

TheNuthatch · 11/02/2025 17:54

What about the other 2 million?

dairydebris · 11/02/2025 13:36

Hang on. You think the Palestinian people should get something in return for returning the hostages?

They do. On Friday three hostages were released by Hamas. As part of the ceasefire deal on the same day Israel released 183 Palestinian prisoners.

EasternStandard · 11/02/2025 18:35

@oakleaffy maybe, that is very sad

At some point they would have to admit this

It seems like they won't do so

snookiesnax · 11/02/2025 18:50

International laws that can't be enforced are laws that don't exist.

It's in Netanyahu's and Trump's plan that the ceasefire should fail so that the bombing can resume. They want to flatten Gaza so no one can possibly be able to live there. They want all Palestinians gone. All they see is land. The people who lived there are incidental and ultimately disposable.

Agree on the terrorist part

Is it sometimes forgotten on here
