How's your Friday evening shaping up?

lucysmam · 07/02/2025 17:58

& how's your day been?

My best friend's just left after calling for an after work brew, and I've just poured a second glass of wine 🍷. She surprised me with a Creme Egg she picked up on her way 🥰 & brought her ds along (he's 17). Dd1 joined us too & it was nice to sit and chat, and hear what the kids are up to.

Dd2's just got in the shower after staying later than usual at school completing a looong ass mock exam. When she's done, I'll get a quick shower, then we'll order an Indian takeaway 😋

I've had quite a nice day...apart from it being both my break and lunch duty in the cold 🧊. My 1:1 was in a great mood all day, I got to have a proper chat with the other classroom TA, and my kitchen radiator has finally been replaced with a much newer one 🥳.

I'm just going to tidy up under the sink before I shower - it's driving me nuts!

How about all of you? Has your day been ok? What are you doing with your Friday evening? 😊

I'm relieved not to be at work any more, it's been a hard week. I've just had a cuppa and dh is cooking dinner. The kids are upstairs entertaining themselves and it's warm and quiet. I'm ignoring the pile of A level mocks that need marking for now!

OldTinHat · 07/02/2025 18:05

Oooooh, hello there on a Friday evening @lucysmam!

After a day of more dog training, chatting to DM for many an hour, I'm wondering if I can justify ordering a takeaway.

I have my impulse purchase, coveted for about 30yrs, sprawled in my kitchen, I'm thinking throw it all in the air and get that takeaway!

Great to see you on a Friday!

TickingAlongNicely · 07/02/2025 18:06

Kids with grandparents for weekend.
Tonight we are having takeaway, tomorrow night its a pub for the rugby (plus making use of a random perk of DHs job... City centre accommodation in a castle for a very small fee....)

I'm currently chilling out with a boom and wine instead of chasing DDs and DH out to rugby and Scouts.

lucysmam · 07/02/2025 18:06

@WonderingWanda I half thought our week was headed that way on Weds, but it's been ok.

Sorry it's been tough, you do right to ignore that pile of marking for now!

@OldTinHat I'm curious about your much coveted purchase? Get the takeaway & enjoy it 😊

@lucysmam it is really cold this evening! I'm wondering if it will snow.

lucysmam · 07/02/2025 18:12

@WonderingWanda dd1 did say it was forecast to snow! My weather app says not though 🤷‍♀️

It's our weekend without the DSC so we've just poured a drink, chatting and listening to the radio in the kitchen (although 1 DSD is coming over soon to pick some stuff up they want for going out with friends)
We'll curl up with the dog on the sofa after we've listened to Michelle Visage (and I've done some dodgy dancing with DH laughing at me 💃🏻)
I have some charcuterie in the fridge if we fancy something to eat

VenusClapTrap · 07/02/2025 18:18

Evening. I’d ringfenced today to work in the garden - so much to do - but it was freezing cold, rained all day and the wind was biting. So I popped over to see DDad for a bit, and have then spent the last hour or so browsing property for sale in the Canaries. Found a place I quite like for a million euros, although it doesn’t have a pool, so pros and cons.

I’m not actually moving to the Canaries.

Going to the pub with Dh for dinner, as both kids are out and won’t need picking up till late.

MillicentMaybe · 07/02/2025 18:18

Just had early dinner, cooked by my husband, vodka beforehand while he crashed about the kitchen - dinner was delicious. Now settled down, catching up on emails, and wine being quaffed. Maybe a movie later.

Every day, I count my blessings.

catin8oots · 07/02/2025 18:21

I've had a shit week had a rotten cough and cold and I never really get ill like that.

Every single person at work has been a nightmare. DS2 is sending me to despair.

So I'm drinking some Christmas wine I found and I've put 20 nuggies in the air fryer 😀

PiastriThePastry · 07/02/2025 18:22

Evening all!
DS had a swimming lesson this morning then I took him in the attached soft play for a bit, then this afternoon, DH and I have been for a growth scan (just under 35 weeks) which was all good, baby is 6lb6 apparently. Home again now and DH and DS are playing tractors. Nice chilled out day really.
This evening, Harry Potter and a bar of Dairy Milk before I inevitably fall asleep on the sofa at a pathetically early hour 🤣

mrsfollowill · 07/02/2025 18:29

So glad it's Friday and my working week is over! At home with DH and adult DS.
Pizzas and burgers ordered and will be here in 45mins
Wine and vodka has been opened and going down a treat- although I will put money on us all dozing off within an hour of eating- it's felt like a long week for everyone. Looking forward to long lie in tomorrow Grin

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 07/02/2025 18:32

Pretty good here! Dh has just found out he got the job he was interviewed for yesterday, so we have a takeaway on the way and a bottle of fizz in the fridge. It's been a crappy few weeks as we've all had the lurgy, bit we're all feeling better finally, and it's nearly half term!

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 07/02/2025 18:34

Work was good, now waiting to go out to training for a few hours.

It's freezing though!

I'd rather be curled under a duvet, but know I'll enjoy training once I get there.

Very glad it's the weekend, I've been travelling with work the last couple of weeks so looking forward to some time at home with my husband.

On the sofa with a hot water bottle, blanket and my cat. Just looking on my kindle for a book to download.

Congratulations to your husband!! What a great way to start your weekend.

Bliss!

Im a teacher and it was my break duty today- so cold wasn’t it!

My boyfriend is away this weekend and my mum is coming to stay tomorrow. I’ve just sat down with my cat, electric blanket, bowl of creamy tomato soup and huge French stick slathered in butter, and I’m very excited to just have a relaxed night to myself watching trash tv!

  • Edited to say I don’t know how/why I ended up quoting someone else’s post- didn’t mean to!
Girasoli · 07/02/2025 18:40

Really nice, as I've finished a busy week at work (did an extra day) and can finally chill.

DH (who would usually be at work) made us all meatball pasta and now he's tidying up, DS1 is watching cartoons on Netflix, DS2 is drawing and I am just sitting and not thinking about spreadsheets or emails or my giant to do list.

hby9628 · 07/02/2025 18:40

Shopping trip this morning. Got some lovely bargains in John Lewis.
Quiet afternoon then a bath & glass of wine. Popping to see my friends for a catch up & food shortly.

Puppypower90 · 07/02/2025 18:40

DD is at her dad's till Sunday night. It's been a bit of an adjustment (court ordered) and miss her a lot but I know it'll get better..

I've just put on "Des" on Itv player and snuggled up with my electric blanket. Love a bit of true crime!

Chickoletta · 07/02/2025 18:43

Chilling in my room with MN for a bit before making the DCs’ tea. I’ve been off work with a nasty cold today but feeling much better after a decent rest. I’m a teacher too. Had a parents’ eve last night and the thought of struggling in this morning feeling crappy was too much.
We were supposed to be going to a black tie dinner tonight (boring work thing which I wasn’t really looking forward to anyway) but have cried off sick. The sofa, wood burner, PJs and Death in Paradise make for a much more appealing offer.I picked up a Sainsbo’s £12 meal deal when I went out to pick up DS so DH and I will have that - steak, chips, chocolate pud and wine. I’m making chicken burgers for the kids.
How lovely that your best mate can just pop round after work, OP - I’m very jealous as mine now lives at the other end of the country.

soupmaker · 07/02/2025 18:44

DD1 away competing in her sport of choice this weekend so just me and DD2 tonight as DH at work. We've decided to go get some takeaway, watch tv and coorie in as it's baltic here.

Meadowfinch · 07/02/2025 18:45

I'm feeling deflated and need to eat to cheer myself up.

I've spent three months trying to sort the marketing of a small division, at the request of my CEO. I've arranged ads and email campaigns, transformed their reporting, generated leads and tried my hardest to sort out a lot of legacy issues.

I thought we were making good progress, but today had a call with their md who basically rejected any initiatives, refused all help and is clearly determined to undermine and belittle every effort. I don't understand why, I pose no threat to him. Just feeling a bit fed up.

I shall cook a lovely creamy seafood risotto with veggies and a touch of tabasco. And I'll watch another episode of Strike. 🤗 My mood will lift

lucysmam · 07/02/2025 18:47

@catin8oots there's nothing wrong with nuggies in the air fryer! Quick, easy, fill you up 🤷‍♀️ ! Fine imo!

@AllProperTeaIsTheft well done to DH!

@CandyCane457 I only do one of each a week usually because I only work half days. It felt colder at lunch than on my walk this morning!
