When did you last have soup

I think about two weeks ago I had an instant soup. They're okay but they are so salty and watery - i.e. in lacking in flavour, not "thin" - that they don't feel like "proper" soup. Can't remember when I last had proper soup.

Think I might make some cock-a-leekie this week.

When did you last have soup?

Last week, but we tend to make soup every week.
It's a great way to use up whatever roast we had , or left over vegetables, plus adult DS like a bowl of soup for breakfast.
We are having roast chicken tomorrow, so will make chicken taco soup the next day.
Ham will be pea soup, left over ribs becomes beef and barley, that sort of thing.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/02/2025 22:54

Today, for my supper.
I love soup. Always home made.

Thebusinesswilljuststealyoursoul · 02/02/2025 22:54

I have digestive issues, so almost every day. My favourite is the proper broth I do in slow cooker, with gammon/ham hock and big chunky veggies. There's nothing nicer on a cold winter day !

Thursday, but it was a sachet of itsu miso soup for lunch. A week before we had home made pea and ham for dinner with cheese and ham toasties.. I make batches and freeze. The freezer currently has one mushroom and tarragon, one butternut squash and three pea and ham.

DairyLeanne · 02/02/2025 22:55

Usually at some point during the week. Only minestrone soup though. Not a fan of tomato, vegetable or oxtail soup. Only minestrone.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/02/2025 22:55

Funnily enough at lunchtime today when we made cream of mushroom soup (from scratch). It was very tasty.

Mangoesintoapub · 02/02/2025 22:55

Today. I have homemade vegetable soup for lunch most days- really easy way to get some extra veg in.

theduchessofspork · 02/02/2025 22:55

Can’t remember, it always slightly makes me feel like I’m in a hospice or something.

But by instant do you mean like a cuppa soup ?! I didn’t know they still existed.

Waterboatlass · 02/02/2025 22:55

Today, root veg, leek, herbs

Yawningisinfectious · 02/02/2025 22:55

I was going to make a carrot, lentil and potato soup today but remembered at the last minute I didn't have any potatoes in the house. So I'll buy some tomorrow and make it.
I agree with you that tinned soups are really salty and I really dislike them. So it's only home made soup I eat now.

MumChp · 02/02/2025 22:57

We gave soup and homemade bread on Mondays.

barstar · 02/02/2025 22:57

About 3pm.

HowardTJMoon · 02/02/2025 22:58

I make soup every couple of weeks over winter as it's easy to do and I take it in to work. Last weekend it was roast butternut and ginger. Next weekend I've got a hankering for minestrone.

PickAChew · 02/02/2025 22:58

Earlier this week. I eat it quite regularly. Easy lunch.

mathanxiety · 02/02/2025 22:59

Last night. Homemade mushrooms soup.

Yes, ours is normally soup and toastie Monday. Easy after the horror of the first working day of the week.

OneLilacGuide · 02/02/2025 23:00

I have soup almost every day for my lunch in winter. Easy, warming and gets the veg in!

@Thebusinesswilljuststealyoursoul does having soup help the digestion? Your ham soup sounds nice have you got a recipe please?

catin8oots · 02/02/2025 23:01

What's with all the soup threads today? Is it a marketing thing?

WilmaTitsDrop · 02/02/2025 23:01

Last week.

I was saying on the other soup thread that I'm lucky enough to work next door to an old fashioned tearoom, where the lady who runs it makes delicious soups.

She does a tomato, roasted pepper and basil soup that I could literally live on! But all her soups are gorgeous.

Yes, that sort of thing. Empty powder from sachet into mug and add boiled water.

Oh that sounds delumptious! (Or very tasty if you haven't read Enid Blyton 😂)

Home made soup not for ages because nobody else in the house will eat it and I don't have freezer space. It irritates me because I was brought up on soup! i absolutely bloody love home made chunky vegetable soup.

I have bought myself a fresh pot of soup from tesco for lunch tomorrow....

Jobdilemmaz · 02/02/2025 23:04

Used to have it at least once a week but haven't for a few weeks now, think I got a bit bored. My 3yo only likes 'orange' or 'red' soups so I can't make my favourite mushroom soup very often!

alexdgr8 · 02/02/2025 23:07

I have stocked up on Lidl tinned soups as they were on special offer last week.

My favourites are mushroom. lentil. And carrot which i had last week.
