What film last made you cry?

I watched for the first time last night The Green Mile (I know. I know. It’s an oldie and it’s a shame I had never seen it before)

I sort of knew the storyline, not the whole lot, but enough to know that I would cry. I did not expect to be a sobbing mess though. I still have a headache this morning from crying last night.

I don’t think I can watch it again. Amazing film. Amazingly well done but what a tear jerker

I haven’t watched that, or dumbo since I was a kid cos I know I will sob. Dumbo being worse now cos I have kids of my own

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.
I shed a few tears in the last 20 minutes of the film but when the credits rolled I started to sob. Not because of the film but for the loss of a great artist.

Society of the snow. I've watched it 4 times and cry my eyes out each time at the ending where we're shown the real photos taken.

I was going to say the same Op! Watched it for the first time a couple of weeks back and cried buckets.

Fraaances · 31/01/2025 14:56

@Soubriquet I refused to let my kids watch those and Pinocchio when they were little. They thought I was terribly mean. My DD2 watched Bambi when she was about 17 and said that she totally understood where I was coming from.

Some nonsense called The Last Bus.

I only watched it because it starred Tim Spall.

But I cried at the end.

I tend to cry easily at anything but we watched Hotel Mumbai the other night and the truly shocking nature of it and the brave hotel workers really got to me.

spacepies · 31/01/2025 15:40

I cry with laughter.
Im just not an emotional person that crys over a sad story or a film i think oh thats really sad but never been the crying type.
Or have huge emotions over things i may sound odd to some.
Even if someone has a go at me i dont get over upset with it i say my peace and walk off sometime just leave i dont like drama.
You could chip ice of my heart.

Really i cant bring myself to watch it.
My neighbour cried over the shape of water i found it boring.

MrsSethGecko · 31/01/2025 15:51

Cargo, and I'm very unemotional when it comes to sad films. Cargo is the only one that's made me sob. (I had recently had a baby when I saw it, in my defence.)

CatchThatPigeon · 31/01/2025 15:52

when I read the title of this thread the only film that came to mind was The Green Mile. what a film. and its the same scene everytime.

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 31/01/2025 16:00

Toy Story 3. Watched it again at Christmas, and the incinerator scene reduced me to a sobbing mess as it does every damned time.

Manchesterbythesea · 31/01/2025 16:04

The new Florence Pugh one 😢

sunshinechaser · 31/01/2025 16:07

I rarely cry ever but I shed a tear when I watched The Holdovers recently. Also cried a fair bit when I watched The Intouchables (the French one) for the fifth or sixth time 😂

I have seen the green mile a billion times it always gets me every single time I cry.

I watched Bohemian Rhapsody last week and had a little cry Rami Malek was perfect as Freddie Mercury.

I can’t watch Dumbo without sobbing my heart out. It’s the scene where is mum in cages and rocking him in her trunk through the bars the the song Baby Of Mine is playing. It makes me think of all the women who are in one way or another imprisoned whether it’s by grief, trauma, abuse… a multitude of things who all want so much better for their babies and are doing their best even though they’re shackled themselves. It honestly breaks my heart,

Puppupandaway · 31/01/2025 16:28

Last Christmas (with Emilia Clarke). When the twist came, it made me sob!!
