What film last made you cry?

I watched for the first time last night The Green Mile (I know. I know. It’s an oldie and it’s a shame I had never seen it before)

I sort of knew the storyline, not the whole lot, but enough to know that I would cry. I did not expect to be a sobbing mess though. I still have a headache this morning from crying last night.

I don’t think I can watch it again. Amazing film. Amazingly well done but what a tear jerker

Aww yes it Is good

God yes. Unfortunately I watched this on a plane. Most embarrassing.

I cry easily and one guaranteed to set me off every single time is the Shawshank Redemption. Agree with PP on Toy Story 3 but I was worse at the end when Andy goes to college. That had me literally bawling my eyes out.

Last one was The Wild Robot. I watched it with DD and the pair of us were sobbing while also laughing at each other crying at an animated robot and goose.

I just came out of the cinema after watching Loveable, the Norwegian contender for Best International Film at the Oscars. The last 20-30 minutes were heartbreaking. Especially if you have complicated family relationships.

A man called Otto..... really sad ending. But I get tearful at sad stories on call the midwife so 🤔

Justsaywhatyoumean123 · 31/01/2025 20:13

The Robbie Williams movie embarrassingly

CyprusRescueDog · 31/01/2025 20:14

Aftersun. Really wasn't expecting my reaction as I'm not much of a crier. But this made me do big snotty sobs 😭

Flossi24 · 31/01/2025 20:16

The film of The Green Mile made me cry but oh my goodness... The book made me sob over and over again!! Both excellent.

EggandStress · 31/01/2025 20:23

I cry at most films but the most recent one was Maria.

RunVelma · 31/01/2025 20:25

A Man Called Otto. Beautiful film. Tom Hanks stars in it and his son plays the younger version of him.

GrandTheftWalrus · 31/01/2025 21:13

When i was 15 I was on a plane to gran canaria reading the green Mile and was crying my eyes out. So I thought because I'd read the book I'd be okay at the film. Well boy was I wrong!

Then the 1st watch after Micheal clarke Duncan died i was a mess again.

On a really embarrassing note I watched dear santa the other day and cried at the end.

marmiteloversunite · 31/01/2025 21:22

I cried at the end of Better man, the Robbie Williams film, too!

ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop · 31/01/2025 21:27

The ending of The Father, when he asks for his mummy. I don't cry much but that really got to me.

Having said that, The Green Mile and Dancer in the Dark are two films that I will never watch again because they were just too viscerally upsetting.

MamaBobo · 31/01/2025 21:33

We watched Le Meilleur Reste à Venir last weekend and I was in bits at the end. Before that it was A Man Called Otto.

Abracadabra12345 · 31/01/2025 22:03

@ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop

What a fantastic, clever and moving film The Father is. One of the best films I've seen. And Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption are incredible

For me, it's the end of Last Christmas 😢

Wendolino · 31/01/2025 22:11

One Life. I saw it at the cinema, there was communal sobbing at the That's Life scenes.

LoafofSellotape · 31/01/2025 22:20

The Green Mile - watched it once, brilliant film but I can never watch it again.
Up - love this film but I always shed a few tears.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 31/01/2025 22:24

The wild robot and IF both had me sobbing.

PrancerandDancer · 31/01/2025 22:27

Every bloody time I watch that I end up a snotty mess!

DeepestDarkestRiver · 31/01/2025 22:31

Bridges of Madison County. Watched it with two friends. We're in our 50s. I cried when I watched it in the early 90s, but I CRIED this time. Snivelling, heaving crying. We were all emotionally exhausted. Wonderful movie.

menopausalfart · 31/01/2025 22:31

I rarely cry. The last time I can remember was when I watched, Up, with the kids.

Inastatus · 31/01/2025 22:33
