What film last made you cry?

I watched for the first time last night The Green Mile (I know. I know. It’s an oldie and it’s a shame I had never seen it before)

I sort of knew the storyline, not the whole lot, but enough to know that I would cry. I did not expect to be a sobbing mess though. I still have a headache this morning from crying last night.

I don’t think I can watch it again. Amazing film. Amazingly well done but what a tear jerker

Coco. It gets me every single time as his great grandmother reminds me of my nan 😭

ThatFishingTrip · 31/01/2025 22:36

Betterman - and I'm not embarrassed to admit it! Sobbed throughout it all

And not a film but 2 tv series... After Life, and This is Us.

IdaPrentice · 31/01/2025 22:39

A Real Pain at the cinema - beautiful film that made me cry - but also quite funny

Who will love my children

Copious amounts of tissues required 🥹

ooooohnoooooo · 31/01/2025 22:56

The first part of 'Up'. I was a mess for that. Ellie 💔

Aftersun. Really wasn't expecting my reaction as I'm not much of a crier. But this made me do big snotty sobs 😭

Oh my god yes! Incredible film.

Is that the one with Jesse Eisenburg,(sp) and Kieren Culken ? I've seen them promote it and it looks really good,

BiggerBoat1 · 31/01/2025 23:02

A Real Pain is beautiful. Kieran Culkin is stunning in it and it’s genuinely moving.

stayathomer · 31/01/2025 23:03

Don’t laugh but just watched Knight and Day (Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz) and thought the genius they were trying to protect had been shot

I always cry at Goodbye Mr Chips, Dumbo, Goodnight Mr Tom.
I sobbed but was also haunted by Sophie’s choice.

I went to see the opera Othello at Covent Garden and cried.

Bridges of Madison County. Watched it with two friends. We're in our 50s. I cried when I watched it in the early 90s, but I CRIED this time. Snivelling, heaving crying. We were all emotionally exhausted. Wonderful movie.

One of my favourite films. That scene at the traffic lights when she’s having a wobble. 😭

sunshineandshowers40 · 31/01/2025 23:30

The Wild Robot made me cry when I saw it at the cinema. The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption gets me every time; Last Christmas too (all watched in the last 6 months).

Urgenthelplease · 31/01/2025 23:48

I saw We Live In Time last night by myself in the cinema. I cried throughout. The 2 min trailer made me cry. I have personal experience with cancer but even without I'm not sure there would be a dry eye. The acting was incredible.

notmyrealname101 · 31/01/2025 23:50

Another one here sobbed thrice during Betterman. My 18 year old didn't know who Robbie was and sobbed more than me!

I haven't seen this for years but I also cried and I rarely cry at movies, it was the part where they're at the traffic lights in the car and the indicator is on. The only other film I can remember sobbing at is Brokeback Mountain

I can’t watch Dumbo without sobbing my heart out. It’s the scene where is mum in cages and rocking him in her trunk through the bars the the song Baby Of Mine is playing. It makes me think of all the women who are in one way or another imprisoned whether it’s by grief, trauma, abuse… a multitude of things who all want so much better for their babies and are doing their best even though they’re shackled themselves. It honestly breaks my heart,

Mine too. I had forgotten it was so upsetting and put it on lately for dc. Everyone was dobbing and ut had to go off.

I also cried at Guardians of the Galaxy recently.

Yes! That scene, and Brokeback Mountain as well.

Elvis The Movie

Was that at the end when they showed real footage of Elvis on stage singing and playing the piano?
I cried at that. It was so emotional.

Nitw1t · 01/02/2025 07:57

The Wild Robot.

DS(10) reached over and patted my hand in the cinema and just made me cry more. 😭
