Do you regularly wear matching bra & knickers?

I have plain black thongs and black bras. Not part of sets but you can't really tell.

Just wondered what everyone else does.

Would wearing a nice matching set help make me feel sexy again ?

I 'might' have the odd matching set in my very early 20's when I was naive and believed the crap at the bra/underwear stores at the time.

Mid 40's now and wear bras that actually fit from M&S and random pants from, umm, no idea? 😆

Weekdays the colour will match but they might not be a set. I pick my outfit for the day, which determines which bra I will wear and will grab a thong that matches the colour of the bra.

Weekends are a much slower pace so will have more time to co-ordinate my whole outfit (including socks) just feel more 'me' on a weekend

I gave up when I hit GG cups.

👙

Only in the sense they're both beige, old, and past their best. Just like me!

WomanWhoSitsByTheWindow · 26/01/2025 23:55

In my late teens and twenties I did. Today, I didn't even match my socks.

NattyTurtle59 · 26/01/2025 23:55

Most of my knickers are black, and I wear black bras in winter, but that's as far as it goes.

PinkTonic · 26/01/2025 23:56

I wear the underwear that the outfit needs but I wear the same colour bra and pants. I only buy black and nude.

Ginkypig · 26/01/2025 23:56

Well they match in that they generally are the same colour black but they are never from a set.

but the truth is I find it so difficult to find a bra I like nowadays that if I find a bra that I think fits well and is comfortable to wear and for a price I want to pay I don’t care what colour it is I’m buying it! I literally don’t care if it is lime green with purple spots and yellow flowers. I will wear it with my black knickers and I wouldn’t give a shit! 😂

speedling · 27/01/2025 08:14

Colours match but often not sets.
My husband used to say I was "wearing Tuesday with Saturday" if I mixed them up which always made me laugh

SparklingSpa · 27/01/2025 08:17

I only have black bras, white bras, black knickers and white knickers so I usually match in colour unless I’m wearing a really dark bottom half and light top half.

MaryGreenhill · 27/01/2025 08:17

Never

Boredlass · 27/01/2025 08:18

No. I pick whatever comes first in the drawer.

30 bras! I only ever have about five.

Thank goodness it’s not just me that only has about 5😂. I’m a 32H so mine cost a lot to get anything decent that fits, there’s no way I could afford 30 😂😂

PerambulationFrustration · 27/01/2025 08:40

I used to then I learned that neutral bras are the way to go if you're a light/white shirt and t shirt fan so now all my bras are neutral and pants are not.

Flipnflop09 · 27/01/2025 08:44

I only have 2 black bras and 1 white bra ! the white bra is hardly ever worn as most of my outfits are dark.

I need to buy more bras !

Until first pregnancy I wore actual sets every day for 20years.
in the ten years since pregnancy I have fallen into the black kidney warmers and black teeshirt bra combo.
i doubt i will turn back now.
the matching sets weren’t for the male gaze, they were because i liked being put together on the inside even when dishevelled/wear site work clothes on the outside.
so in a sense things are the same, my pants and bras are a close fit colour and style wise. But less creative/exuberantly coloured

I just don't like having lots of anything, it seems like clutter when there are too many, whether it's clothes, shoes, toiletries etc. I have one double wardrobe and four drawers for clothes. I have about 12 pairs of shoes.

I do actually have more clothes but rotate them in April and October for winter/summer and keep the others in the loft. It makes me have a look at things though and if I haven't worn something in 12 months it goes to the charity shop.

namechangeGOT · 27/01/2025 10:23

My nanna, bless her, always told us that you should wear clean matching underwear everyday. Not to entice your man or to be sexy, but incase you get run over by a bus. It seems nanna thought emergency services might put more effort into your CPR should you be matching! 🤣 However, I always, every day, wear matching underwear - despite never being along a bus route!

chargeitup · 26/01/2025 23:06

But what if you need pants that are cut a certain way to avoid VPL but then a bra with a racer back cut ?

I don't buy clothes that will give me VPL or need a racer back.

Redglitter · 27/01/2025 10:29

Never. First bra & first pair of knickers that come to hand

LaurieFairyCake · 27/01/2025 10:29

I've got at least 30 bras, all RED

And the pants are the same colour but not the ones that come with the bra as they're overpriced. Instead I buy the M and S multipack in red mix

Red is the only colour you can't see under white trousers/shirts (even nude can be seen on me)

I have a couple of black bras but I don't really wear them much

Plaided · 27/01/2025 10:32

No, I haven’t worn a bra since lockdown!

If I'm going out somewhere special, the yes I do wear matching undies, generally it's whatever I pull out of the drawer though!
