Prompted partly by another thread, how would you feel about seeing a woman who’d had mastectomy as a result of breast cancer and chosen not to reconstruct topless on a beach?

MrsSethGecko · 26/01/2025 22:11

I'd think, I'm glad she's alive and well enough to be on a beach in the sun, or some version of that, and then go about my day.
I have had a lot of friends and family die of cancer.

mashingwachine · 26/01/2025 22:12

I wouldn't feel anything, why should I?

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 26/01/2025 22:14

I probably would want to not stare so that I didn't make them feel uncomfortable. Beyond that I probably wouldn't think anything it's none of my business.

I don’t know, that’s the point.
It’s me, don’t want to perturb anyone.

I would think, wow, what a woman. Braver than I am.

This. Although much more likely I wouldn’t even notice. But if I did then this!

RitaFromTheRanch · 26/01/2025 22:20

I would think what a brave women if I thought anything but mostly I'd just be reading my book and being oblivious to others.

Moier · 26/01/2025 22:20

My friend has had one. Sunbathed topless.. no one battered and eyelid.. well not in front of us.
This was in lefkas.

HollyKnight · 26/01/2025 22:22

If I even noticed I wouldn't think anything of it.

From looking at other threads here, you'll be fine as long as you shave your legs and don't wear a thong bikini.

stayathomer · 26/01/2025 22:25

You won’t worry anyone, everyone on the beach is either enjoying themselves, worrying about their kids or paranoid about something there’s no need to be paranoid about. Hope you have a lovely time op x

Ketzele · 26/01/2025 22:26

I'd think, Go warrior woman! I wouldn't find it st all perturbing.

40andlovelife · 26/01/2025 22:27

I feel distaste to anyone who sunbathes topless, no matter what their boobs look like.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 26/01/2025 22:29

I would feel admiration for that woman.

The point is that women who have had mastectomies don’t have boobs. Thank you, though. Every opinion is helpful.

@ByQuaintAzureWasp I prefer to be known as an agent for the ' Breast FEDs' but thanks!

creamsnugjumper · 26/01/2025 22:39

I'd potentially not even notice, but if I did glance I'd think bloody ell what a fab woman.

I suppose then my first thought would be that I am glad the person is well after experiencing such trauma in her life. I would then tut for all of 4 seconds, at every female who is topless because I just don't agree with it! But that's just me. I do of course respect everyone's choice to do as they please ( within the law), including going topless. Mastectomy or full boobage.

My point I suppose is that I wouldn't feel any different about seeing a woman with a mastectomy than I would about a woman with big/small/saggy/ perky boobs .

Heyheyitsanotherday · 26/01/2025 22:44

I’d think “warrior. Hope she’s ok now and enjoying her holiday” then I’d get back to my book and not give it a second thought 💕

Gizmosgremlins · 26/01/2025 22:46

I would think "good on her, what a strong woman and I hope she's having a really lovely holiday"

Sadtosaythis · 26/01/2025 22:48

I would feel very happy for you that you were living your life and were able to be on that beach. I would not have one single negative thought just pure admiration and respect.

Giggorata · 26/01/2025 22:49

I would admire you from afar, and be glad that you were enjoying the sun.
