I'm just finishing my first brew, in my usual kitchen spot. It's nice and quiet down here at the mo but dd2's awake, and dd1's about to join me for a brew before we dye her hair, ahead of her birthday celebrations next weekend.

Once her hair's done, we're meant to be having a walk to Lidl for some top up bits and bobs, but my dad has just text to tell me that he's picked up some cat litter for us & see if he can drop it off late morning, so Lidl may wait til later 🤔

Somewhere in the day, I really need to work out a way of making cake sized barricade fences 🙈 for dd1's birthday cake, and think about sorting my lesson for tomorrow! If there's time, I'll list a few things on Vinted too, although haven't sold much lately so it's probably time to take some older bits off too 🤷‍♀️

Tea is bangers & mash with veg and gravy, and we have a chocolate gateau from Christmas in the freezer that I'll take out to defrost later on 😋

Tonight it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, followed by a couple of hours with my book, and then an early night ready for a stupidly busy week 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam.

I've crept downstairs to the sofa, as per usual on a Sunday! But at least I slept until 8.30. DH and DD still asleep.

We were meant to be going to my hometown for fish and chips and a beach walk today, but DD is shattered and I've got sparkles in my eyes which tends to herald the start of a migraine.

The alternative is a day at home and an easy tea of tempura chicken and chips. Will see how DD feels when she gets up. It's been a very long week so maybe a duvet day wouldn't hurt!

Kim82 · 19/01/2025 09:14

Good morning. Just me, dh and dd10 awake so far here. I slept terribly so I’m hoping for a quiet day today. We need to do a tip run really but might leave that til next week.

We’ve no real plans for the day, dd17 is working this afternoon til 5.30pm but when she finishes we’re going out for a curry for tea as it’s dh’s birthday tomorrow so we’re celebrating early.

merrymelodies · 19/01/2025 09:16

Actually, I'm just about ready to go to sleep.

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/01/2025 09:17

Morning! Feeling rubbish with a horrid cold - slept really badly 😞 - so bit of a duvet day here I think.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 19/01/2025 09:18

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and a slice of toast. I'm looking after dgs2 for a couple of hours this morning so I'll need to get moving soon and empty and load the dishwasher. I have a chocolate cake to ice and lentil soup to take out of the freezer for his lunch. This afternoon I'll visit mum. Have a good day all

FlorencenotRatchet · 19/01/2025 09:19

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Sunday.
Good luck with the cake, that sounds challenging!
I've been absent from this thread for a few months due to a personal event which has tipped my life off its axis. Normality is now a different thing for me and I've really missed being able to share the simple things that I'm getting up to. I've still enjoyed following the thread and wondering if I'll ever be able to contribute again.
I'm slowly picking myself back up and today am off to the cinema with some friends.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Sourisblanche · 19/01/2025 09:21

Morning, I’ve just been downstairs to do the dishwasher and make some coffee and toast to have back in bed. Just me, two kids (asleep) and ddog so very quiet.

i have a zoom call this morning - highly unusual! Then dropping ds off for his football match, it’s a home match so I’ll go back just before half time to watch the second half. I don’t enjoy the atmosphere a lot of the time (shouty parents) but like to support ds and chat to some of the other mums.

I’ll need to warm afterwards with lots of tea and a Pilates video online. Don’t know about dinner yet, something with potatoes and broccoli. Perhaps a stampot which is a winter Dutch dish, with sausages.

Happy Sunday everyone.

shitshow1976 · 19/01/2025 09:24

Morning, I love these threads. We're at our caravan for the weekend in the peak district. Just having a cuppa in bed. We're going to have a cooked breakfast, get showered and drive over to carsington water for a walk.
Heading home this evening to get ready for a full working week......

TortillaTam · 19/01/2025 09:25

Morning @lucysmam and Everyone!
I've had my shower and two coffees so now ready to take on the day! Dcs (x3) are watching a movie and having bagels for breakfast, DDogs snoring on the sofa and DH is away with Work. Shortly I will round everyone up for a Long walk, a National trust likely.
After DDogs will be taken home and I'll take the DCs out for Sunday lunch somewhere. Then Home for baths / bed and School uniform ironing for Me alongside an audiobook. Half way through 'Wintering' by Katherine May which I'm really enjoying.
Have a great day all Flowers

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 19/01/2025 09:27

Knitting and drinking coffee in bed. My sons are still asleep, my husband is reading the news and my cat is sleeping next to me.
Very very dull. But I like it.
Later on I have some work to do but I will probably take a nap before I start.
Such an exciting life I lead.

JingsMahBucket · 19/01/2025 09:27

Morning @lucysmam and everyone. This is my second waking as I woke up a little before 6:00am and fell back asleep around 7:45am. Still in bed though.

Today really needs to focus on getting my taxes done. The bedroom is a hovel though. I may let myself have “breaks” by doing 10min of cleaning here and there just to make some cleaning progress.

Dinner tonight will be homemade chicken and mushroom ramen noodle soup. I’ll marinate the boneless skinless chicken thighs this morning as a bit of prep. If I have time tonight, I’m going to bake some pumpkin bread for the cake tin. Have a good day everyone!

Paradoes · 19/01/2025 09:32

Hi Lucy .. I have now made sat night scrubby shower (plus a bit of light tan) as thought it was a good idea to have a set day/ routine (plus I look a bit less scruffy today with hair mask and tan results 😂😂😂)

today we’ve church then steak dinner (I am starting a diet so it’s a small bit for me with a poached egg and veg)

I bought a journal to record three good things that happen each day, going to do a walk each day and going to record what I eat)

then later I feel like a bit of Netflix and relax a bit / tough week

Crunchymum · 19/01/2025 09:34

Happy Sunday all.

It's birthday week here too (DC2 and DC3 birthday a few days apart) but we're celebrating this weekend.

Yesterday was a party for DC3. Such a hectic day I didn't even have time to post 🙃 but fun was had by all.

Today I'm taking DC2 and a few friends for lunch, bowling and then ice cream. DP is taking the other 2 kids to a big adventure playground and then a roast at his parents house.

Just doing some quick chores now (bathrooms and a hoover round) before everyone arrives at 11.30. We have a table booked for 12.30 so hopefully x4 10yo girls can't create too much mess in less than an hour!!

I can't wait for bed already. We'll have a light dinner later (probably a bowl of pasta and sauce or omelette) and then we'll settle down for a few more episodes of Young Sheldon!

Holibobby · 19/01/2025 09:36

Morning everyone, my DD (9) fast asleep next to me, love a Sunday lie in. DD has been invited over to her friends house for a play date so I’m dropping her there this morning. Im due to submit my PhD thesis this year and have a big deadline in 3 weeks so Im going to be working on that this afternoon! Although I do feel as though I should have some time off as I’ve been working on it constantly. I might do a few hours then put my headphones on and go for a walk. Might try to squeeze some yoga and meditation in, take car the car wash. Then meal plan for the week, prep for the week ahead by writing to do lists and getting organised. Not sure about tea yet might have a look at slow cooker receipe and start that early. Have a lovely day all

Simonjt · 19/01/2025 09:36

Good morning, we’ve got my husbands grandma and her friend coming round for dinner so we need to tidy a bit more than usual so they don’t risk tripping on any toys.

I went for a run this morning in my new shorts, I have big legs and I had a bit of chafe so instead of longer baggy running shorts I bought a pair of fitted running shorts as longer baggy ones would be annoying. They’re a biscuity colour, I got home and realised they’re so close to my skin colour it looks like I’d gone for a run half naked.

I need to start getting bits ready for dinner soon, if we don’t eat at exactly 5:30pm there will be moaning, but if I’m largely cooking while there here before dinner they’ll also moan.

frozendaisy · 19/01/2025 09:37

Good morning all,
About to make coffee and put school shirts on to wash - they only take an hour in tumble to dry and that's it for the tumble today

Have persuaded H to go through admin and shred shred shred so might strike whilst the fire is hot (I know hold yourself back with the excitement........but it's January I don't want mind numbing jobs outstanding once Spring springs and we can be out or in the garden)

Sunday roast pork dinner later. We didn't get round to marmalade yesterday so the seville oranges are still in kitchen. So will research with a coffee and make a plan (i can ponce about with inedible oranges whilst H goes through old pension forecast papers ......again hold back the excitement).

And a whole heap of homework about computer networks and WW2. So I might do some drawing at the same time.

I hope everyone else has a more exciting day planned. Hard not to really.

TribulationPeriwinkle · 19/01/2025 09:39

Morning!
@FlorencenotRatchet That sounds traumatic. I hope you’re doing ok.

I’m on the sofa with my second cup of coffee. DP’s pottering upstairs and DD’s playing in her room.
We’re having to rethink plans for today as DD’s usual Sunday club is cancelled - loads of staff off sick. She’s very disappointed but we’ve promised her a trip to our local country park instead.
I need to have a shower so we can get going.
Homemade pizzas for lunch and will have to rustle up a salad of some description as DD’s a stickler for veg with every meal 😁.
It’s freezing here, so I reckon the afternoon will be spent on the sofa, swathed in blankets and bracing for the week ahead!

TribulationPeriwinkle · 19/01/2025 09:41

Oh, and we’re going to look at Motobility cars online later. We haven’t applied for Motobility before, so any top tips gratefully received!

Darby3785 · 19/01/2025 09:45

Good Morning All,

Nothing much going on here today!
DH is on a 13 hour shift today so he won't be back until 8pm. My DS is at his Dads, so he will come back in a bit. So I'm just having a slow morning doing the washing and tidying up whilst I've got the house to myself, before the week starts again! Just having a little tea break, it's a bit chilly this morning here!

Me and DS are going to see my Mum later this afternoon, but that's all the plans we have, then home for some tea and just chill this evening. Might find something to watch on Netflix in a bit.

Hope everybody has a lovely Sunday!

lissie123 · 19/01/2025 09:46

Good morning everyone
Woke early to DH leaving the house for his cycle ride with his mates. Crept downstairs so as not to wake DD who’s home for the weekend. Made a cuppa and played with the dogs before making some breakfast. Just sitting quietly in the kitchen having another cup of tea before I head out to walk the dogs. No real plans for the day. DH organising dinner.

Whattheduck · 19/01/2025 09:49

Morning all
Still in bed here Dh is visiting friends he’ll be back later today Dd has come home from university for the weekend she’s still in bed
Once up I’ll have a coffee and a croissant (my weekend treat ) then have a tidy up downstairs and put a wash on
Going to cook a roast dinner today so will listen to a podcast whilst preparing that
Hoping Dd joins me for a dog walk this afternoon before she heads back
No plans for later today probably just tv / reading and an early night
Have a nice day everyone

gingercat02 · 19/01/2025 09:49

I'm just finishing my coffee before I go to PiYo.
My doing nothing yesterday was a spectacular fail as my mum rang to ask if I would help her with some admin stuff. Took all blooming afternoon.
I need to call in on my way past with some printing in a few minutes.
Today, I need to do a bit of washing, make food (fajitas for tea), and hopefully relax. Really crap nights sleep so could do with a quiet day.

Topsy44 · 19/01/2025 09:52

Good Morning Lucysmam and All

Had a bit of a lie in this morning, was woken by DD12 at 7 as she wasn’t feeling well with her cold, gave her some medicine and then went back to sleep for a couple of hours.

Just had a cuppa and about to get some breakfast. DD is next to me on the sofa watching Dr Who bundled up under blankets.

Will call my Mum this morning for a good natter and need to get the school/work stuff in a wash and a bit of a general tidy up. This afternoon will watch a film with DD on the sofa and easy tea for this evening with Call the Midwife.

ChristmasGrinch24 · 19/01/2025 09:54

Not much today, both me & ds9 was sick yesterday but seem okay today just tired.
So far I've got downstairs to the sofa with my heated blanket on, took the steaks out to defrost and now watching downton abbey.

OneLilacEagle · 19/01/2025 10:10

Morning all! Just trying to find the impetus to get organised. Was out at an art class all day yesterday so lots of house stuff to get done today. DH is finishing off a job for a friend - he's a joiner - but should be back pretty soon. DS has scooted to Lidl for jam and has a friend coming over later. I'm going to work on the to do list then might get a bit of knitting done later. Chicken and rice soup and sticky toffee pudding for dinner. I was feeling a bit anxious this morning for no reason whatsoever but writing this has helped me see what a gentle day I've got ahead and there's nothing to worry about. I hate random anxiety - stupid middle-aged brain!
