Worth £6million, apparently. The prizes are getting more and more valuable.

I haven't had a chance to have a good look yet, but will be back with my thoughts when I've done so.

What's the verdict, Omazers?

Not for me. My £10 is quite safe on this occasion and will be staying with me!

DiscoHippo · 17/01/2025 07:33

It looks like it belongs to a plantation owner; I wonder if you get the slaves thrown in. Also, the lawn looks so daggy. I'd be happy if I won it, but only to sell it on. I much preferred Bliss Blakeney - this one is like something from House & Home circa 1996

Wasn’t this built by the same guy that ‘donated’ the previous Norfolk house to Omaze (‘Bliss’ Blakeney)? The air bnb party house one that was on the market for ages & still didn’t sell? If this new one is the one I’m thinking of (between Morston & Blakeney on the creek side of the coast road) it’s in a lovely location but there was a lot of fuss locally about it being built on or adjacent to an SSI. It’s one of 2 on the plot. Not sure where they got a £6 mill valuation from!

Was that Bliss? I didn't know that had been a party house. I loved that so much; the guy who won it had only played three times with a tenner subscription, too - though I can't hate him; he seemed like a lovely bloke.

LandSharksAnonymous · 17/01/2025 07:39

The Norfolk one has been on/off the market for a year at £3million or with the option to buy it, and the house next door, for £6million.

It’s right on a busy main road with two houses really nearby and has no land. Even at £3million it was grossly overpriced (hence why it’s now on here).

You can get way more for your money in Blakeney than that monstrosity!

Notgoodatpoetrybutgreatatlit · 17/01/2025 07:46

I like it! I'm from East Anglia these are my preferred geographical features, trees and hills are not a patch on odd spooky watery half land half sea places.
I love that coast they have seals.

Bumcake · 17/01/2025 08:22

It’s interesting that a few posters have said it’s been for sale for half the price Omaze are stating.

I love the landscape, but the house leaves me cold. I also have no use for three garages and a tennis court, and the pool probably won’t see much action given the weather/ exposure.

flyinghen · 17/01/2025 09:07

Definitely not worth 6 million, only 3 bedrooms. Bad layout design!! It's huge how has it only got 3 beds.

I personally don't like this one!

tanstaafl · 17/01/2025 09:42

What I found interesting with this house is the collaboration with the BBC.
The draw is live on as part of BBCs Red Nose Day.

On the plus side it’s a raffle, so someone wins but for me now, it’s expensive and the odds too great.

Meant to add, the £6m valuation comes from the extra land and facilities surely?

WorriedMom24 · 17/01/2025 09:42

Anyone else find the website isn't great on a laptop? I can never see the floorplans properly as the Omaze logo covers half?

Other than that it's a nice house but 3 bedrooms is silly. I also think they need to use a new interior designer as they decorate all of the houses the same regardless of the age of house.

Edited

The draw is a month after the close of the draw, which is quite weird for Omaze; it’s normally a few days later.

I quite like the designs in some of them but yes, it is a cut & paste with a shift in colour scheme for each house. The first Norfolk house was stunning as it was; they took a lot of the character away

SharpOpalNewt · 17/01/2025 11:17

£6m in Norfolk? Is it for the entire county?

I adore Norfolk, don't get me wrong, but seriously.

ShyMaryEllen · 17/01/2025 11:24

Is this the entertainment room? It's from the estate agent link upthread. It might be the sitting room - it's hard to tell. Given the commission on a house that price I'd want better photos and better labelling of what is where. It doesn't look as though it's in a £6m house, does it? The ceiling is awful, and they haven't chased the TV cables, for a start.

That Norfolk house is not worth £6m.
Someone is being very creative with their figures. It's way too close to the sea and any potential floods.

WellThisIsStupid · 17/01/2025 11:51
at least I think it's the same house
Mirabai · 17/01/2025 11:57

It’s like an American kit house plonked down in the middle of a desolate Norfolk marsh reminiscent of Great Expectations.

Not saying I would be happy to win but I wouldn’t live there if you paid me.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 17/01/2025 12:15

In a bizarre way, I like it better for knowing it only has three bedrooms. My gut instinct was that it was ridiculously huge and I didn't really look further.

I find it hard to contemplate that I might not win the Bath one😆- but should that travesty occur, I'd take this graciously. I could work from it quite a bit, do some holiday lets, and then either sell it dirt cheap and still be happy with teh windfall, or not be any worse off if (when) it falls in to the sea.

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/01/2025 12:21

The Bath one is on the High Street through Batheaston on the outskirts of the city and the back garden goes down to the River Avon (known to flood anywhere between Bradford on Avon and Bristol). Not my choice.

It looks to me like this room is in the currently for sale house next door to the Omaze house?

FaeryQueen · 17/01/2025 13:06

What on earth would I do with a house like that?

I wouldn't want to live in it so it would go up for a quick sale immediately for whatever I could get for it - probably a lot less than £6m!

I know the Bath one too - that would also be up for sale very fast. Horrible position, public footpath through the garden and would cost a fortune to run. No thanks!

Aaach, the garden looks well sloped down to the river. I'm not letting this (doubtless realistic) problem spoil my daydreaming. I'm never going to have to deal with it in reality.

OnceMoreWithAttitude · 17/01/2025 13:28

I actually love the location of the Norfolk house - if it is beyond the pavement to the village there is a surfaced coastal path that is very lovely and goes straight to Blakeney Quay.

It is quite a way above the marsh, I have never known those houses or that area flood.

Blakeney has flooded very rarely - what does happen is very high tides that cover the road for a couple of hours. All the locals know about the tides and it and it isn't a problem.

The area in front of the house is salt marsh and in RL very beautiful if you like that sort of thing. You also get views over to Blakeney Point and along the coast. The marsh is covered at very high tides - the creeks fill at normal high tides - the ecology of a salt marsh. It isn't a 'bleak' location, it is a short walk to a bustling village with a small supermarket, fish shop, deli and touristy gift shops, galleries and cafes.

However, it is pretty hideous and I can't begin to think how it got planning permission,

SkyGrant · 17/01/2025 13:36

Does anyone know how much it was on sale originally?

TragicMuse · 17/01/2025 13:37

3 bedrooms for £6m? Nope!

I don't really like it, it's too...six-milliony iykwim. No character, nothing to excite or tease.

I like the summer house though.

You could buy all of Narborough Hall for £4.5m. 8 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 16th century...

There are some gorgeous houses in Norfolk, this ain't one.

Half of Bath is entering the Bath raffle (not that I would want to live on Batheaston High St, next to the river)!

The Lake District house was won by two local teachers, who went public last week.

I wonder why the Norfolk house just bothered to have 2 1/2 bedrooms?
