Hotel stays family friendly with pool, 2hr from London

Looking for a hotel for a weekend away with DH and DC (age 5).

2hrs radius from SE London, so Suffolk would be ideal, or Kent etc.

Would really like an indoor pool that our child would be allowed to use, plus grounds with scope for nature walks, and room service. In a nice area where we can have an afternoon out in the car.

Has anyone found anywhere that fits this criteria please?

A lot of the Hilton hotels have indoor pools and do winter bed, breakfast and dinner options. Or just look on booking.com and filter for an indoor pool.

Places up to two hours from SE could be Bournemouth, West Sussex like Chichester, South Downs, Chilterns in the other direction or Kent coast or Suffolk (Southwold is nice).

Elmers Court in the New Forest. Some years since we went there but was perfect with a 4yo & 2yo. As well as generally pottering around the New Forest, we went to the Beaulieu Motor Museum and Peppa Pig World/Paulton's Park.

Thank you. Elmers court looks nice but I think it's about 50 minutes too far for us for a weekend.

Since you don’t mention a budget… Four Season Hampshire

bunnypenny · 13/01/2025 12:39

Woolley Grange or the Ickworth?

januaryblues83 · 13/01/2025 12:42

I looked at the Ickworth but was put off by the terrible Tripadvisor reviews. These were really bad and included reports of insect eggs in the bedding 🤢

Woolley Grange is near Bath? That will be too far for our drive from SE London after school on the Friday.

De vere estate in Windsor might suit you

januaryblues83 · 13/01/2025 12:50

@InTheRainOnATrain just looked up Four Seasons - oof! What a place! I've bookmarked it for the future but it's too much £££ just now unfortunately. The cheapest room they've got is £800 a night right now.

Following as would love to know!

The Hilton near Arundel has an indoor family friendly pool and you can drive into Arundel or other nearby towns.

We do love the Cotswold Water Park as it has everything on our list, but it's a 4hour trip so no good for weekends sadly.

What about this one:
https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/gb/en/shepperton/lonsh/hoteldetail

It has a heated pool, 11 acres of leafy grounds including a natural meadow and pond.
Close to Windsor for lovely walks, Legoland, and Thorpe Park Resort and Chessington World of Adventures.

Family have stayed here when visiting us and really liked it.

Erm, Butlins?! In the hotel.

HPandthelastwish · 13/01/2025 13:48

Butlins would be my shout too, yes it's a child centre holiday but you won't get a better pool.
The Shoreline Hotel is great too and a massive selection of choice at the buffet restaurant or character meals if little one is in to that.

Crèche and spa for adults.

Tots weekday holidays are great.

YourNimbleOchrePoster · 13/01/2025 15:19

Woburn Center parcs.

Mirrorxxx · 13/01/2025 15:26

Not a hotel but CABÜ by the sea is nice. It has a heated pool for the warmer months

Crikeyalmighty · 13/01/2025 15:29

Crown inn plaza - Marlow

HEIHEI23 · 13/01/2025 15:31

Not a hotel but Highfields spa air b and b. You get a private pool, hot tub and sauna as well as games room and two bedrooms. We went for our mini moon and it was amazing!

biscuitsandbooks · 13/01/2025 15:31

What about Center Parcs at Elveden?

januaryblues83 · 13/01/2025 15:52

Thanks. That CABU place looks nice, and I've bookmarked it for later in the year when we would want an outdoor pool.

Definitely a no to Centre Parcs. The accommodation is not comfortable and the food is rubbish, plus the "nature" is so anodyne.

Crown inn plaza - Marlow

We’ve visited this hotel a few times and then went for a river walk or hired a boat for an hour and one year we went to Cliveden House.

When my DC were younger I found any hotel with an indoor pool worked well, we could always find something fun to do in the area.

Tynley Hall.
