Most frequent dream

rosemole · 09/01/2025 22:02

Just chatting to DD about dreams and started thinking about mine - I think by far my most frequent dream is being out somewhere and realising I don't have anything on from the waist down. The waist up never features, it's always, always waist down and having to navigate getting back to wherever I'm going with minimal embarrassment (impossible).

Do you have a recurring dream?

This thread has no purpose other than being nosey curious.

I dream that I've bought a second house, obviously without looking into it first because I'm exploring it and it's shabby and often sinister.

XenoBitch · 09/01/2025 22:28

Trying to find a toilet, and they are blocked, broken, or have no door.

Echobelly · 09/01/2025 22:34

I have a few common themes:

  • Needing the loo, but I can't find one that works properly, or they're too disgusting to use, or they just have a sink or a chair in the cubicle, or have no door 😳
  • Trying to catch a bus or train but the bus keeps going past the stop or the train platform keeps changing and then I miss it trying to find it
  • A recent one that's only come on in the last few years involves making loads and loads of food in a situation where you can't possibly eat it or tidy it all up, like on a final day on holiday and about to leave an airbnb
  • Having to perform suddenly in a show that I did years ago, or in something really inappropriate, like a girl band on an X-Factor style show when I'm a lumpy 40-something mum of two who can't dance and can only sing classical music

I think the first two are quite common themes, the latter maybe more specific to me

Jollyjoy · 09/01/2025 22:41

What does your dream mean to you, op? Or others? That's what intrigues me. I rarely remember dreams, only really if I get a lie in and snooze a bit in the morning. And nothing recurring that I can think of. I'd like to have more, to analyse!

rosemole · 09/01/2025 22:50

I'm crap at dream analysis so apart from obvious common themes here such as anxiety, panic, shame, embarrassment, I really have no idea why I dream that. I'm not particularly embarrassed about my body (but obviously wouldn't go out half undressed 😂).
I'd love to know what others think.

My recurrent dream is my exh coming back after he left for OW, me being deliriously happy and then he leaves for her again 😢

Iloveyoubut · 09/01/2025 22:59

I keep dreaming I’m arguing with my mum. She died 3 years ago and I miss her and I think the arguing is because we could safely have a right old ding dong argument and be fine ten minutes later and I’ll never have that safety to do that again. I love when I have the dream though even though it’s sad when I wake up.

OldTinHat · 09/01/2025 23:12

Like other PPs, needing the toilet but they are filthy, blocked, have no doors, no privacy. Same with trying to have a shower but no privacy.

TonTonMacoute · 09/01/2025 23:15

I also have dreams about being half dressed but it's always my top half! I'm always amused by red carpet photos of stars with just a jacket on - my stuff of bad dreams. Also get the loo dream, I always try and say 'you need to wake up and go for a wee!'

Another regular is I have to type a really long and confusing password into a tiny gadget, god knows what that's about.

I also often dream about going back to my old flat in London, and discovering a whole extra area I never knew about, new rooms, once a rather nice garden.

toffeeappleturnip · 09/01/2025 23:20

My most common dream for 20 years used to be that I was in some sort of rubbish car, like a toy car, or something with no floor like in the Flintstones, or I'd have to peddle hard to get anywhere.
It was always a shit car.

Now my dreams are really random and crazy - big journeys, epic events or just really vivid strange end of the world stuff.

CammyHammy · 09/01/2025 23:21

I dream about my old workplace every single night, very vividly. I left there 12 years ago and it still haunts me for some reason.

I never think of it during the day so I have no idea why it pops into my dreams. It was a pretty toxic working environment and I felt "trapped" there for a while, so I assume that's the reason why.

Sorrento2014 · 09/01/2025 23:26

I often have a dream that we have a dog (we don't!) and I can't remember the last time I saw him or fed him, or have I left drinking water for him! I wake in a real panic and have to calmly work out who lives in our house and that we do not have a dog! It takes me about a minute to work it out and calm down

mylovelyboycat · 09/01/2025 23:30

My dreams:

  • Being on an aeroplane that is struggling to take off. We go along the runway but don't manage to lift off, so this huge aeroplane ends up driving around the streets trying to get enough power to get up into the air. Sometimes the plane manages to rise into the air, but never quite high enough to get anywhere (... I suspect this represents my life!)
  • Lifts, escalators and spiral staircases!! I've had this dream theme for over 25 years! I'm always to scared to go up the stairs or escalator because it's perilous (but other people are passing me by with no worries), or I'm in a malfunctioning lift which is falling to fast towards the ground.

-the seaside, beaches....normally warm calm waters, but occasionally I dream of terrifying tsunamis!!

Cattenberg · 09/01/2025 23:33

XenoBitch · 09/01/2025 22:28

Trying to find a toilet, and they are blocked, broken, or have no door.

Or the toilet is in the middle of a large room and there are other people in there.

mylovelyboycat · 09/01/2025 23:37

Also on the aeroplane theme..... I have a repetitive dream of being on a plane that is struggling to land in Cyprus. Sometimes it overshoots the runway and we end up travelling around the streets in the plane. Sometimes it abandons the landing and I end up in a completely different country. Often in the Middle East 🤷‍♀️ (I have been to Cyprus in real life, it was a nice holiday, but nothing remarkable that should make it keep reoccurring in my dreams).

Cattenberg · 09/01/2025 23:43

I often have dreams where I’m trying to catch small creatures such as rodents and baby birds before the cats get them. The number of small creatures seems to increase during the dream.

I sometimes spend my dreams completing boring, fiddly and nonsensical admin tasks. Then I wake up and realise all my hard work was for nothing. 😆

Nicer dreams include the ones where I find beautiful places near my home and I think, “I must come here more often” and the ones where I eat vast amounts of (calorie-free) food, especially cake.

TiffanyIceberg · 10/01/2025 00:15

I find a lot of extra rooms in the basement of my house, sometimes they're nice, sometimes they are awful.
Walking and looking for a place I have been before (in real life) but never finding it.
I'm sure there's some deep psychological reason behind them.

Lots of hugs :(

Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 10/01/2025 00:45

Locking my front door but people with bad intent can still get in...have had this dream for years.

Tormundsbeard · 10/01/2025 00:50

Trying to find a working toilet.
Having extra rooms/wing in a house that I know about but never use.
Recent recurring dreams about a small green frog..

tobee · 10/01/2025 00:52

  1. needing the loo and finally finding one on a corridor with no door and loads of people about to walk by.

  2. trying to get somewhere far away with lots of things going wrong - having to get a bus not a taxi, boat being late, phone boxes not working (had this before mobiles originally), being in danger of missing flight etc.

  3. buying/renting a house with loads of baths everywhere in unlikely places (top of stairs etc). Sometimes the tub is carpeted inside Confused

  4. needing to leave a self catering holiday place in a few minutes but neglected to pack up properly.

I think these all have a connected theme. Probably also a Freudian analyst's dream.

tobee · 10/01/2025 01:05

Most of these dreams outlined on here are anxiety dreams but I suppose that's the type we're likely to remember. And travel is a theme.

Just mentioning this to Dh and he says he doesn't think he's had the needing the loo and it being inappropriate, unclean etc. That got me wondering if men are less likely to have that type because they are more used to going to public loos that aren't private - urinals etc

Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 10/01/2025 01:10

Remembered my other one
It's having to phone 999 because of someone violent at my door and keep being cut off or no answer.
Always have to take a minute to come round from this as it wakes me up.

Andoutcomethewolves · 10/01/2025 01:21

I have sex dreams about my predatory sex offender neighbour. No I don't fancy them. It makes me 🤢

And I thought my dreams were bad ,that's awful.
The human mind is bizarre at times.
