Most frequent dream

Just chatting to DD about dreams and started thinking about mine - I think by far my most frequent dream is being out somewhere and realising I don't have anything on from the waist down. The waist up never features, it's always, always waist down and having to navigate getting back to wherever I'm going with minimal embarrassment (impossible).

Do you have a recurring dream?

This thread has no purpose other than being nosey curious.

Recurring dreams featuring 3 x ex-boyfriends.. I've been married over 20 years...

VoltaireMittyDream · 10/01/2025 01:33

My top 3:

  • I am on a boat in Istanbul! I’ve never actually been to Istanbul, but in my dream it is always the same place, and it’s stunning and completely psychedelic, like if Dr Seuss had tried to draw Venice. I go to the same parts of this dream landscape every time. I love it.
  • I forgot to go back for my last year of university and have to sneak back in, 30 years later, and try and take my exams and hope nobody notices I’ve been away. And my door card doesn’t work and they’ve rearranged the library.
  • There’s a room in my house that I never knew about! But it’s full of puppies I’ve completely forgotten to feed or walk, and they’re all dying in puddles of their own waste 😳

All three at the same time??

Andoutcomethewolves · 10/01/2025 01:37

Most of your dreams are far more wholesome/normal than mine!

VoltaireMittyDream · 10/01/2025 01:39

I get the ‘oh no I’ve forgotten to wear some of my clothes’ dreams - but it’s always shoes and socks! It’s always that I’ve turned up to work barefoot, and feel like a complete twat because who forgets to wear shoes?? The shame is not about nakedness or exposure but my outsized flakiness.

I have two frequent dreams.

  1. Im accused of a crime or act doing something terrible eg adultery and nobody believes me.
  1. I know something bad is about to happen and have evidence but nobody will listen.

I think I feel ignored 😂

I often have a dream that we have a dog (we don't!) and I can't remember the last time I saw him or fed him, or have I left drinking water for him! I wake in a real panic and have to calmly work out who lives in our house and that we do not have a dog! It takes me about a minute to work it out and calm down

Oh yes I've had that a few times - we do have pets and when I wake up I panic I've starved them to death (very much not in danger of being starved cats may be using mind control)

MidnightMeltdown · 10/01/2025 02:00

@Cattenberg haha! I've had a dream like this! In my case toilet was randomly placed in the street with people walking past! For some reason, in my dream I didn't realise that people were walking past until I was already sitting on it 😂

I woke up needing the toilet, so I think it was just my body trying to signal to my brain that I needed to go! I also tend to dream about drinking something if I'm thirsty.

Magamom · 10/01/2025 02:02

I have a lot of flying and time travel dreams. My favorite reoccurring one is when I go back in time to a tall strong handsome knight who married me and we live in his castle. He rescued me from being raped and from servitude.

WayDownThere · 10/01/2025 02:09

Recurring dream for over 20 years now. At some point in the dream there will be an aquarium, there will be an issue with the fish/water and I'll be focussed on trying to save fish/clean the water.
I've looked at various dream analysis guides but none mention this particular one. I'm not particularly anxious in the dream, just faced with the task of trying to make it right. Who knows maybe it is just an anxiety based dream.
Most analysis guides put dreams as having either an anxiety or a wish fulfilment root/basis.

MarkingBad · 10/01/2025 02:11

Lying on my front in the mud, lots of chaos and screaming with people running past and loud explosions and gun fire. It's cold but I'm not and I'm past caring.

Had that one and other being a soldier ones from different ages since I was a child.

I'm a woman.

MidnightMeltdown · 10/01/2025 02:18

I've also had the dream about forgetting to feed animals a few times. Usually caged animals like birds, rabbits or guinea pigs (animals that I don't actually own!).

Also dreamt about having a human body hidden under my bed that I need to dispose of before it starts to smell, but I don't know how to do it without anyone finding out.

Both of the these dreams were extremely stressful. Honestly, the level of relief when you wake up and realise that you don't have a corpse to dispose of today! 😂. I don't know what this says about my psychology...

EBearhug · 10/01/2025 02:19

Running away dreams (tells me I'm stressed).

Going through a house with a lot of rooms, usually a complicated layout and sometimes a hidden room.

Water dreams - Sea, river, pool. Might be sunny and calming,or dark and stormy. All depends.

All these themes can mergeeinto each other.

I've only had a dirty toilet dream a couple of times and in recent years. I have often dreamed about being half-naked or naked, but that's not a stress thing, I'm usually quite pleased with my dream body and happy to show it off. Similarly, being barefoot is my preferred way of being, so running barefoot in a dreams isn't really notable.

UnctuousUnicorns · 10/01/2025 02:23

I dream that I'm going up this endless staircase, in the middle of nothingness, leading up and up to I've no idea where. One side is open, and as I ascend, the treads get narrowerer, so I have to cling onto the other side for dear life, terrified I'll fall off into the abyss. I've had this dream lots of times.

Another recurring one is where I'm in my house, or another place familiar to me. I go up to the landing or loft, and suddenly discover - even though I've lived there for years - another passage (I often have to crawl through as it's very low) leading to a room or rooms that I never knew existed until then. A bedroom or two, with a bathroom, all furnished with bed linen on the beds, curtains etc. I can't understand how I didn't know these rooms were here all the time I've lived in the house.

Another one is where I'm visiting my old school, only in my dream it's at the top of a hill, with craggy sides, and a single road winding round and round it. Sometimes there's a stream to one side of the road. In reality the school is on flat ground, so I've no idea why I keep dreaming of it this way. 🤷‍♀️

Another one I've had a few times, is where one day, I look under my bed to find that there is some sort of container holding water that has some sort of aquatic creatures - maybe turtles, sometimes other fish or animals too - living in it. They've been there for years, and I've only just discovered them.

iamnotalemon · 10/01/2025 02:30

Mine is having a shower. Don't know why or what it means!

Andoutcomethewolves · 10/01/2025 03:42

rosemole · 10/01/2025 01:43

Dare you share what they are!!!

Essentially the only dream I ever have is a sex dream about my sex offender neighbour

It's gross and I have no idea why

Actually I do also have random night terrors with screaming and stuff (so my husband tells me) so maybe the two are related??

HumphreyCobblers · 10/01/2025 07:40

Every night for about five years I went to sleep easily only to wake up ten minutes later in a total panic shouting about forgetting to feed a cat and finding it dead. Dh used to carry on reading and say loudly 'There's no cat, just a dream' and I would go back to sleep. Every night for five years. It has stopped now.

Apart from that my dreams run the usual anxiety rollercoaster that most pp have detailed. My sister once had a dream with end credits that rolled up "this dream was brought to you by DSIS' etc Grin

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 10/01/2025 07:41

Dreams about having to sit A levels in subjects I never studied.

Dreams about losing my child on a tube platform and not being able to get to them in some way.

MrsSethGecko · 10/01/2025 07:43

I'm at a school which is meant to be my sixth form college, and I've got an exam that I haven't done any revision for and I haven't done any coursework. It's always maths.
I didn't even do maths in real life.

IWanderedLonely · 10/01/2025 07:49

I used to have frequent dreams about my teeth falling out, very vivid.
These days I always dream about the sea, sometimes I'm swimming, other times I'm trying to get to it but there are big cliffs and stormy waves so I can't get there. No idea what it means.

elliejjtiny · 10/01/2025 10:13

The toilet dream, always get that one when I need the toilet in real life.

I have a dream when I'm out shopping in town and I find a secret passage that leads to a small shopping centre. There is an amazing cake shop, a chocolate fountain cafe and a bathroom like the prefect bathroom in Harry potter.

elliejjtiny · 10/01/2025 10:15

Forgot to add I've been having one lately that I've been trying to cook bacon by putting it on a radiator and then getting frustrated when it takes ages!

NotTerfNorCis · 10/01/2025 11:07

Interesting how we all have the same recurring dreams: toilets, teeth, travel, public nudity, retaking exams, lost people (or animals) coming back, scary lifts and stairs! I have all those, plus driving anxiety dreams as I only just learned and am not confident!
