Not enough people listened when we were told Brexit would increase prices.

It’s not always Brexit. Farmer here. It’s not Brexit that’s upped the cost of our products in the supermarket. Its feed costs, mainly a hangover from the uptick of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Energy costs have gone through the roof. Constant increase in red tape. The supermarkets know our coatings and pay us an effective guaranteed margin. So if our costs go up so does the price we get. That’s then reflected in the shelf cost.

I keep saying it time and time again on here but when the minimum wage increase goes up in April, the fertiliser tax begins to bite and Employers NI goes up this is only going to get worse.

@WhitegreeNcandle - l understand this to a point. But hasn’t red tape been increased by Brexit? And, l don’t think we should always see red tape as a bad thing. It helps to ensure standards and is why we are no longer sending boys up the chimneys.
