Does anyone remember these books from 90s ( I think).

I've always been an avid reader and during the 1990s I was a fan of a school series but I can't remember what they were called or the author. I think they were written in the 1990s or maybe late 80s. I just remember they were first person narrated by a girl who was quite accident prone and things tended to go wrong for her. It's possible she was called Michelle. I think there was a girl called Fleur too. I don't think it was a boarding school, just a standard day school.

Does this ring any bells? I'd love to know what they were called. They're definitely not by Enid Blyton and not Chalet school or anything like that. Not Grange Hill or Mill Green either.

I don't think it is but what about:
Jenny and the Syndicate - Martyn, Harriet

It's boarding school though. I think Jenny is arriving with lots of older sisters who have all done brilliantly, and has a number of incidents while she tries to prove herself. I think one of her older sisters has a friend called Fleur.

Hmmm. Sounds vaguely familiar. Were they set in the UK?

Puddlelane123 · 31/12/2024 21:33

Were they teenagers or primary school aged?

I think they had just started secondary as they were aimed at young teens from what I can remember

This is ringing some bells for me. Did they go on a ski trip in one of the books?

Needmorelego · 31/12/2024 21:40

Early 90s there was a couple of school series that I read.
One series was by Mary Hooper and the other Jean Ure.
I think they were both set in all girl secondary schools.

Quite possibly unless I'm mixing up books. A ski trip does sound familiar in a vague way

These were the two series I was thinking of.
Peter High by Jean Ure and School Friends by Mary Hooper.
Edit : the two schools seem to have the same uniform going by the covers 😂😂

I'm not sure they were written by either of them but I will check those out and report back if so.

I think you're thinking of Anastasia Krupnik? The girl who accidentally posted a dog poo bag in the post instead of a letter?

Lemonmelon1 · 31/12/2024 21:46

Sweet valley high?

Needmorelego · 31/12/2024 21:46

@lifebyfaith I read quite a few Mary Hooper books.
There was one called Lexie that I loved.
Mary Hooper still writes books I think.
I loved Jean Ure too who wrote similar books.

JetskiSkyJumper · 31/12/2024 21:54

The Mary hoop one. I recognises the cover too, fleur is the one with the dark hair?
