A very nosey question but if you receive a bonus in work what is your job and how much is your bonus?

I work in retail so I never get bonus- it's not a thing for shop floor staff I don't believe

Between 10 & 30k performance based

Mylittlebobble · 29/12/2024 21:48

NHS too. As stated previously, I supply my own stationary and tissues. In conversation with my family this Christmas, I did say that we get access to boiling water like it was some sort of perk. Not going to bash the NHS though - I could go private but I choose to stay.

IKnowAPlace · 29/12/2024 21:48

I do but it's usually about 5% or less. I put it into my pension now. I appreciate the extra money but never expect it.

ZoeyBartlett · 29/12/2024 21:51

Yes. Usually 150 - 200% of my salary depending how company has done.

Notateacheranymore · 29/12/2024 21:51

Work for local County Council. So, no. Last job was for a poultry company. Still no. Execs only. 🤬

Heatherbell1978 · 29/12/2024 21:52

I work in a big retail bank. The majority of employees aren't eligible for a bonus. The ones who are (at my level) are eligible for up to 25% but most get between 0 and 20%.I always assume £0 as it's non-contractual. I got around 8% last year.

Hoplolly · 29/12/2024 21:53

I get roughly 8.5% of my annual salary as a bonus.

Noseylittlemoo · 29/12/2024 21:53

I work in retail and have been with the same company for years. In the early days there were bonuses for all staff if certain targets were met /exceeded. The best bonus I had was quarterly and we made the targets in all 4 quarters and got a 10% bonus in each . But there havent been any financial bonuses for about the last 5years except for management 🙄

warmbath · 29/12/2024 21:54

I get a bonus as a lawyer in an in house role, usually about £14k before tax. I never become blasé about it, I used to work in retail, a psychiatric hospital, hospitality, and lots of other similar jobs when I was younger. We use it to pay for a holiday and save the rest.

These threads make you feel proper shit if you work in the public sector. 🙄

And we still get told we are greedy for asking for pay rises in line with inflation! 😂

Sheknowsaboutme · 29/12/2024 21:58

Heck no! Local government worker , imagine if i did, the local rag would go wild!

i make up for it in pens, envelopes, post it notes and taking in my stuff for the shedder and popping it in the confidential waste.

klimtchakra · 29/12/2024 21:58

I'm NHS so nothing, but I did get a voucher for a small £2.50 coffee for getting my flu/covid jab though.

strangeandfamiliar · 29/12/2024 21:58

Public sector, so no. I do get 33 days paid A/L though, as a long service thing, on top of bank holidays. Would be great if I ever got the chance to take it!

Exactly! My new leave year starts on Wednesday and i have 6.5 days carry over. So many days I’ve cancelled 😡

Ontobetterthings · 29/12/2024 22:03

Yes I get 2 bonuses a year. Work as an Analyst in the private sector

H0TDAY · 29/12/2024 22:03

£50 Sainsbury's voucher - work for a not for profit organisation

Frangywangywoowah · 29/12/2024 22:03

Nope. Have worked in social care for last 22ish years. We even pay for our own Christmas do.

DrCoconut · 29/12/2024 22:04

Education. We've had a few ad hoc bonuses after pay negotiations but after deductions, pro rata reduction for PT and loss of universal credit I can just about treat myself and the kids to a McDonalds.

creamsnugjumper · 29/12/2024 22:04

I run a small business TO below 500k and give profit shares to my team, they all got 3k bonus this year and I'm going to review in April as well and see if we have profits to give another 3k.

Tequilamockinbird · 29/12/2024 22:05

@SlinkyDog1 yes, I could do. Most of my colleagues do. But I'd rather use it for holidays. I'm not quite ready to 'adult' and be sensible yet 🙈

RachelCarew · 29/12/2024 22:05

Me too re AL, I’ve got five weeks to carry over, agreed as work pressures mean I haven’t been able to take them. I had 40 days in the private sector. Always took them all.

I’m desperate to leave the public sector.

Ponderingwindow · 29/12/2024 22:07

I work for a nonprofit. It’s barely competitive salaries and not a bonus in sight

EllieRosesMammy · 29/12/2024 22:11

We used to, pre-covid. Since then none of us seem to receive a bonus anymore, eventhough the bonus scheme is still in place. I reckon our company is trying to claw back their losses so are purposely finding reasons not to pay us our bonus'

The place I work for is a very large, popular pub chain. We have the opportunity to earn 19% of our wage in bonus' every month and every quarter - based on how well the pub performs overall (profit, cleanliness, inspections etc). We all used to get bonus' but everytime we get close to receiving one now they move the goalposts 🙄

RebelMoon · 29/12/2024 22:13

I think it's time we stopped calling some of these bonuses, they're often just part of the overall package. I'm in the process of changing jobs and there's a contractual 5% "bonus". Not really a bonus at all if it's guaranteed is it? Just part of my pay.

I agree with this. 'Guaranteed bonus' makes me laugh - especially when paid out monthly 😂
