Toast obsession

On my second round of toast with butter and marmite and feeling like I could eat at least an entire loaf!

Is it just me or is toast the best invention ever? Seriously considering going for my third round now.

Strangely, we've been eating a lot of toast lately too.
Never was a thing until we found a great bakery that does thick-sliced, whole wheat Italian bread; tastes A-mazing toasted; eat way too much of it with coffee.
Don't know about the Marmite though...think it would ruin it for us. Enjoy!

Bittercup · 29/12/2024 14:44

I could happily eat 'something on toast' for every meal.

Exactly how I feel. I could have toast for breakfast, lunch and dinner and be quite thrilled honestly!

That bread sounds excellent! I make my own bread every week but it's generally just a basic white loaf. I might have to branch out!

My DS can make anything with toast! He makes a great tasting pizza, toast doesn't even get soggy, don't know how he does it, but I'm glad he does, saves me cooking tea every day!

MadamDicey · 29/12/2024 14:48

Love toasted sourdough, buttered when warm , then let it go cold and add more butter with a sprinkle of sea salt .
All day, every day, if I could .

I haven't made my own bread in years, but even with COL the bread prices at the bakery, although higher, aren't too bad, not when you can do so many things with it!

I've built up a tolerance of marmite over the years and I spread it THICK nowadays. Can't get enough!

I’m obsessed with toast + salted butter + honey. It’s more addictive than nicotine.

springbulbssoon · 29/12/2024 14:57

How about a toast banquet
Starter
Toast with marmite
Main
Toast with peanut butter
Desert
Toast with Nutella Grin

I hope that one day they’ll find a cure for your severe infliction.

Affliction! I’m just thinking about Marmite and it’s already making me go funny. Such are its evil powers.

Good for you OP, and I do mean 'good for you' cos it is, very good with many B Vitamins, ( B12, B3 ( Niacin), Potassium and Magnesium, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Folate; all good things.
Maybe worth me trying it again, it's been many years since I last spat it out in disgust! :)

I can't stand peanut butter so I'd have to swap it out for cheese on toast? Or maybe houmous on toast!

I wouldn't take it if they did! It's too good and good for me as another poster has pointed out!

Thank you @252833z

Toast with butter and marmite is fabulous. I managed to get to six pieces. The last one had blackcurrant jam instead of marmite as the pudding course! I've kind of got out of the habit recently. My new obsession is bagels. 🤣

OooPourUsACupLove · 29/12/2024 22:24

We've got a 6-slice toaster in a 2 person household. Toast is important!

JohnTheRevelator · 31/12/2024 18:02

Toast and Marmite is my ultimate comfort food! Before I started on weight loss injections,I have been known to eat 8 slices at one sitting! Now I can just about manage 2.

JohnTheRevelator · 30/03/2025 22:54

Marmite on toast is my ultimate comfort food. If I've been ill and not been eating,it's always the first thing I crave.
