Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, after a nice lie in snuggled up with boy kitten. Girl kitten was on the floor at the end of the bed instead of get in with us 🤷‍♀️. They've both had breakfast & are exploring the back hallway & downstairs loo again.

Dd2 and her friend are, surprisingly, up already after their sleepover! I can hear their rather loud chatter. Dd1's sock-on, and probably will be for a while yet.

Today's a nothing much kind of day here. The kitchen needs straightening up, and fridge needs re-organising, plus there's washing and washing up to be done (when isn't there!).

I'm going to spend the day crafting & doing a few bits for work. I want to start painting some peg dolls, finish laminating & hopefully get to the videos I need to watch for my lessons.

I imagine the girls will just mooch - I know the two youngest wanted to do their history homework together. Dd1 has A Level work to be going on with too.

Tea is a help yourself type affair for the next couple of nights - I may have over bought on cheese 🙈🤣 so that needs eating. Or there's whatever else they fancy that they can sort.

Later on it's my usual Self Care Sunday scrubby everything shower, but I might swap it for a hot bath with my book. Then an early ish night ready for nipping out tomorrow morning.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning all Smile am in a bath with second coffee - frequent baths at the moment as they ease a strained back muscle. Amazingly i dont seem to be hungover after night at a friend's house. No sign of DS yet (wouldn't expect it) but I should think he will go to the gym. Off to see my mum in the nursing home soon, then later on out to visit dp's aunt for tea. Still resetting after Christmas but I'm working all week so it will feel normal.

RabbitsRock · 29/12/2024 09:44

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. In bed having not long finished a cuppa. Left a coffee on the landing for DD16’s friend but I think she went back to sleep. I was going to an out of town shopping centre to exchange an M & S jumper but I’m not feeling 100% so will go tomorrow instead. No doubt it will be heaving today anyway. Need to peel spuds for roasties as we’re having beef tonight. Also doing Christmas tree shaped Yorkshires, petitpois, bought cauliflower cheese if I can be bothered to get some & maybe sprouts for DH. The dishwasher needs loading/unloading. I put a load of washing on when I made the tea. Keep saying it but really must go for a walk!

RainbowWife · 29/12/2024 09:48

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

Having a quiet cup of coffee while DW has taken the dogs out. Will have an 'everything' shower shortly- Self Care Sunday usually happens on an evening but we've got an empty morning so will make the most of it. We always stick facemasks on every Sun evening too, got some nice ones now to use.

Online church at 11- this is new for me, I'm going through something- then off to take Grandma out for lunch, location her choice as always every Sunday, she just likes to get out and about. She's been wanting to go to Costco but she's 90 and that's a lot of walking so we'll see!

No plans for the rest of the day which is nice so I'll give the house a really good scrub as we took down all the decorations yesterday and I like it fresh for New Year.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/12/2024 09:52

Good morning @lucysmam ! Your sleepover guest arrived very early yesterday - are you expecting her to be with you most of the day?

I had another brilliant night's sleep, the second in a row, and I slept for a few hours in the morning and in the afternoon yesterday as well. I am now recovered from the indisposition that landed me in hospital on Friday but it obviously left me exhausted, judging from how much sleeping I have been doing!

This morning I am relatively bright eyed and bushy tailed. There is a lot of laundry to catch up on - with the sheets and towels from the guests over Christmas and the usual stuff, so I will get some of that done. DH cleared up everything downstairs from their visit on Friday morning when he still thought we would be having my other daughter and her family over, so downstairs is lovely and tidy. I expect I will give the bathrooms a swish round, but that won't take long. Any deep cleaning I leave for our cleaner, but she only comes fortnightly and isn't due until the 8th, so mini cleans will definitely need doing in between.

We have a garden gift voucher to spend, but I think I'll leave that until next week. If I stay well I will be going swimming tomorrow morning, and I have an oncology appointment and eye screening on Friday, so Wednesday possibly. I can't usually do more than one 'thing' a day so I try to space them out. My local daughter mentioned inviting us round in the New Year, so I'm looking forward to that. They usually come here.

Crunchymum · 29/12/2024 09:54

Hello lucysmam and the Sunday crowd (had to check my day there!!)

It's just myself and DC1 home as the girls had a sleepover and DP is pricing a job. DC1 is still asleep so I've been up for a good hour on my lonesome. Wanted to get some chores done but I've been mumsnetting and drinking tea instead.

Girls will be home in an hour, plus 3 additional children (nephew and nieces) and I'm taking 6 kids to see Moana 2 at Midday. They range in age from 12 to 6 so should be interesting!! We'll pick up nibbles and popcorn on route to the cinema.

I'm having everyone back here for a playdate and the kids who aren't mine will be collected before dinner as they have plans this evening.

I'm doing us fajitas later. Will be a lazy evening with board games and toys. I'm working tomorrow so want us all tucked up nice and early.

lucysmam · 29/12/2024 09:55

@DilemmaDelilah she did! And yes, she'll probably stay most of the day too. The girls both have certain friends I don't mind mooching here, and others who are "small doses only" 🤣. Dd1's best friend has an open invitation to just show up if/when things are too much at home.

lucysmam · 29/12/2024 09:57

@DilemmaDelilah I meant to say, I get you with the one "thing" a day, thing. I tend to be alright doing one thing, maybe two if they're back to back or I can nap in between. But once I stop, that's usually it & any more is a push to do it.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/12/2024 09:59

@lucysmam that's nice. I worked split shifts when my girls were young, plus we were totally broke, so they never had friends over but I wish they had had that opportunity. The youngest now has friends that I am very happy for her to bring with her when she stays here and I'm pretty sure they feel comfortable here, but I know my children missed out.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 29/12/2024 09:59

Having a lazy start to the day, enjoying a cup of tea and watching the birds on the feeders in the garden - currently a group of long tailed tits on the fat balls and a pair of chaffinches loitering on the ground, awaiting their turn!
Once I am motivated my plan is to get the ladder out and prune the large apple tree and, hopefully, by early afternoon, get back to the project, which has been ongoing for a few days, to strip off the gypsum plaster (which has caused so much damage to my house) on the stairwell, repoint the exposed stonework with lime mortar and replaster, with lime plaster, the patches of 'cob' which have been incorrectly plastered with gypsum. The joys of old houses!

Paradoes · 29/12/2024 10:02

Hi lucysmam and everyone!

we had a v v quiet few days but heading to the city to large shopping centre. I’m getting me hair done (blow dry) as party tomorrow and kids want to go to the Lego shop

dh is making a cooked breakfast before we head off

DilemmaDelilah · 29/12/2024 10:03

@lucysmam I'm always very impressed with all the stuff you manage to do! I feel like such a wimp compared to you. A short trip round the garden centre will wipe me out completely. I'm on some meds which cause 'extreme fatigue', so when I finish them in August I am determined to start doing more. I'm really looking forward to that!

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/12/2024 10:06

Off to "Big Tesco". Been reliably informed by my OH we have a £173 in club card points to spend.

New toaster and bed sheets are on the list. To be fair, our toaster is 25 years old, so has done well. Will have a look at what else we need, but don't know it yet.

We will then nip in the cafe for a coffee and a cake.

May not be a super exciting trip, but I do like a "Big Tesco".

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 29/12/2024 10:18

Good morning Lucysmam and others. The sun has just popped out which is probably a sign to get dressed. I was at a friend's house last night. It wasn't a late night nor was I drinking, however I slept really badly. So today will be mainly lazy. I'll visit mum later. Enjoy your day

ellebelli · 29/12/2024 10:28

I'm about to go and have a shower, then we will take the dogs out(me,husband and 10yr old) Eldest Son (17) is still in bed with his GF(first time shes stayed over)
After Dogs have been out we will go into the nearest town for lunch.
Later Husband and Youngest will go on a bike ride in the local forest and I'm going the gym.
Prepped tea yesterday for today which is turkey, leek and stilton pie,so just need to add the pastry top, having with carrots and sprouts.
Later tonight will probably eat more cheese and have some wine.Back at work monday so starting to feel a bit more normal, instead of a continuous loop of eating and drinking.

lucysmam · 29/12/2024 10:29

@HelpMeGetThrough I like a trip to the big supermarket too 🤣 !

I can't possibly move now, girl kitten is stretched out on my lap again! Sure it won't last but she's not usually snuggly so I'll stay put for now 😊

Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm having a cup of tea and then I'll have some lunch. This afternoon I'm going to make pizza rolls to stick in the freezer for work lunches as back to work tomorrow, and this evening I'm going to cook the first dinner since Christmas as we've been living off leftovers up until now.

DS is across the road playing at the neighbours', unfortunately its too slippery for the boys to play outside today, ice everywhere with the top layer melting is an accident waiting to happen - almost fell over when I walked him across the road!

DD is still asleep and OH is trying to deal with the bank as he got scammed at some point last month and just realised a dodgy company has been taking money from his account twice and attempted a 3rd time, 60 euros each time.

OneLilacEagle · 29/12/2024 10:38

Good morning all! A quiet one today, I think. Waffles for breakfast and now we're off to a sauna at a local beach. Then catch up with some house stuff, maybe some baking or board games, later. Fajitas for dinner. A slow day.

Thislittlekitten · 29/12/2024 10:48

Morning everyone.

Had a we lie in now having a cup of tea and bacon roll in bed! Everyone is awake and having breakfast. DDog is lying next to me hoping for crumbs. Dcats are having a sleep. Getting stormy sounding outside.

We plan to take the kids swimming today, so working up to that.
Managed to catch up a bit round the house yesterday but still mountains of ironing. Will try do a bit more.

I am trying to think about tea, maybe pasta. Fancy something un Christmassy.

Will be a quiet night here. Read more of my book.

Iamnotaloggrip · 29/12/2024 11:28

Morning all. Up early for park run this morning, then home for a bacon roll and shower. Off out for a walk this afternoon then over to my parents’ for tea.

Have a lovely day everyone!

terracottacountryfarm · 29/12/2024 11:34

Morning!!! We've had a real lazy day today. I cant seem to get up before 10am at the moment, feeling exhausted. Seeing some family today (wish I wasn't) then taking down the Xmas decs. Would love a chilled day otherwise!

DilemmaDelilah · 29/12/2024 11:37

@lucysmam your girl kitten looks huge compared to my elderly little lady!

@HelpMeGetThrough you have reminded me we have some nectar points to spend... so a trip to the big Sainsbury's may be in order!

lucysmam · 29/12/2024 11:41

@DilemmaDelilah she's only little in real life. She was all stretched out there.

She's moved now...I still haven't moved. Dd and her friend have joined me for a brew & chat 😊

I’ve just woken up in the car - DH is driving us all to Cornwall for New Year. Board games and walks on beach when it’s not raining! I feel very lucky!

devildeepbluesea · 29/12/2024 11:47

Just waiting for DD to get here from her father’s then we’re off to the winter wonderland to go skating, followed by some food at Pho.

Tonight will be TV and an early night, I expect.

username299 · 29/12/2024 11:49

I'm decluttering the house. Have a charity collection booked in January and am going through drawers and cupboards every day.
