Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I've only been up about twenty minutes & am drinking my first cuppa of the day, with boy kitten on my knee.

We'll be moving soon though - tomorrow is dd2's 15th(!) birthday so I need to sort her cake, find the decorations and wrap her gifts. Also need to blitz the pigsty house, paying particular attention to dd2's room since she's having a sleepover 💤

Dd1's best friend is calling soon to exchange Christmas gifts, too 😊.

We'll pick our way through the day with assorted party food/nibbley bits, followed by what's left of the trifle for afters 😋

And, if there's time, I'll make a start on the couple of bits I brought home from work. Probably not though 🤷‍♀️

Tonight, I want to read today's chapter of Christmas Chronicles & then some more of my latest book so I can get to my Christmas gift - thankfully it's one of The Works Christmas ones, so really easy reading!

What about all of you? 🎄

Taking DS into town to pay his Christmas money into the bank, going to the post office to send something that's being exchanged, maybe having a nose round a couple of shops and a coffee, then home for leftovers sandwiches and a film or a few episodes of the current boxset binge (9-1-1). At some point I need to do a proper 'stocktake' instead of just checking that we're not out of crisps before doing the weekly shop tomorrow and getting back to normal meals.

EvilNextDoor · 27/12/2024 10:20

The kids want to go out and pick up some bits they want.

DH is looking forward to playing on his game.

I need to pop to Tesco to see if a prescription is in..

Other than that a lazy chilled day with a dog walk thrown in and I am going to make a turkey and leek pie which I forgot to do yesterday 🤦‍♀️

Popfan · 27/12/2024 10:21

I'm doing very little today, sitting in bed with a cup of tea currently. Plan is to tidy the house and find homes for all the new things. I might even kick start the new year declutter I have planned... this is fairly unlikely though!

Morning,

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas day and Boxing day 🙂

We went to the cinema yesterday to see Sonic 3, so today is the day for finding homes for all the new gifts and a good clean up and tidy. I only got up at 9:30am. OH was up at 8am so heading into the town for fresh bread and milk and the boys are still in bed 😆 I'm sat with a 2nd cup of coffee and no energy to move yet lol

Hedjwitch · 27/12/2024 10:29

Still in bed having slept until 9.30!
Have the house to myself so just a general tidy up and then maybe a short walk.

HPandthelastwish · 27/12/2024 10:31

Well I'm gutted, I've woken up with a shitty migraine and it's 'our' Christmas today as teen DD was at her dad's for the 25th.

Fortunately we do it at my parents who live just down the road and I won't need to lift a finger, we have a 'picky' and left over meal as DD doesn't like roast and I helped mum cook and prep stuff yesterday. But I'm annoyed I feel sick and the light is hurting my eyes and ibuprofen doesn't seem to have touched it

Mindymomo · 27/12/2024 10:33

We are off to see local pantomime tonight and getting some food beforehand. Had food delivery as adult son and gf are arriving tonight to stay until New Year. Dog has had one early walk and I will take him for a walk before we leave, my brother is popping round to sit with dog for a while as he loves spending time with him.

Peridot1 · 27/12/2024 10:36

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

I’ve been up ages. I seem to wake earlier and earlier and once I’m awake I’m awake. So dishwasher is already on for the second time today. It went on first at 7.05!

General plan is to move furniture around in spare bedrooms as my sister and her family are coming to stay on Sunday. So need to juggle things around to get the trundle bed into the bigger spare room. Also want to clear the landing which has a few boxes cluttering it up. If I get the beds made up too that would be a bonus.

Other plan is to finish building the Lego Christmas tree DH got me for Christmas. And read some of my book.

Turkey and ham pie for dinner. Mince pie and cream for dessert. Turkey and stuffing sandwich for lunch. Had a ham sandwich for breakfast around 7.30!

DH is planning food menu for when my sister is here and doing the Ocado order.

Also told DS I’d go for a walk with him if he wants so might end up doing that.

troppibambini6 · 27/12/2024 10:37

Morning @lucysmam and everyone. We have just got up too. So lovely not having to rush. We have sporty kids so most weekends are spent travelling round to different matches/events so especially nice to have days totally to ourselves.

We are going for a walk to our local national trust place with the dogs and the two youngest. Dd1 still in bed she worked late last night and dd2 is off to a sleepover/ birthday party at lunch time today.

That sucks. I suffer with migraines and it's awful. Put an iced cloth on your forehead and back of your neck. Tends to help it disappear quicker.

Topsy44 · 27/12/2024 10:41

Sat on the sofa with a tub of Roses watching tv and scrolling. DD12 has got a cold bug so is sitting next to me playing her new game that she got for Xmas.

Hopefully, a day of doing very little after a busy few days of Xmas prep and then looking after my elderly Mum over Xmas. We are off to more relatives on Sunday for an overnight stay so just trying to decompress while I can!

JingsMahBucket · 27/12/2024 10:46

Morning @lucysmam and everyone! Thanks for the thread. 🙂 I hope everyone has had an easy past few days.

I’m still lying in bed contemplating whether I should go back to sleep or not. Eventually I’ll get up to menu plan and make a shopping list for a holiday friend dinner we’re hosting on Sunday evening. Then I’ll take myself off to M & S and Morrisons to get the required items. Hopefully I can snag a few discounts too. After that we’ll also be clearing the living room of leftover wrapping and boxes.

I’m not sure what’s for dinner yet. I made a beef, vegetable, and barley soup last night but we have some nice roast sirloin beef leftovers that need to be eaten. It may be another hodgepodge dinner / eating day TBH.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 27/12/2024 10:48

On my first cuppa.
Full of cold unfortunately.
Will have cold meats and chips for lunch
Start a jigsaw this morning
Lemsip up and off to watch football tonight with a few beers and a pie.
Am loving time off!!

OldTinHat · 27/12/2024 10:51

Morning all! I had to double check the day, there, for a minute!

My DS and DIL are staying atm. I'm waiting for them to get up then it will be bacon sarnies and taking the dog to the beach to go hunting for dinosaur footprints.

We're getting a takeaway later (hooray, a break from cooking!) and then we'll resume our game of Monopoly.

Enjoy your day all!

MysweetAudrina · 27/12/2024 10:54

Feeling good. Having a lazy morning with a cuppa and the dogs in bed. Have the first of 3 yoga workshops at 12.30pm so looking forward to that. Had a bad flu and lots of family hurdles in the 2 week run up to Christmas so it is nice to be the other side of that and to have managed lots of meaningful, enjoyable moments in between the stresses and strains.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 27/12/2024 10:57

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I'm lying on the couch watching Star Trek (the original and very long film) and contemplating getting dressed. I've had a very quiet and lazy day yesterday and today will be similar. Smoked salmon on crusty bread for lunch and gammon with salad for dinner. I don't expect any visitors, so I might delay getting dressed. 😂 Of course, then the world will call in. I enjoy time to myself as I'm usually busy. Enjoy your day all

Meadowfinch · 27/12/2024 10:58

Washing, hoovering, making a pasta sauce with some left-over Christmas duck, making soup, going for a run.

In that order 😊

Natsku · 27/12/2024 11:04

Did a bit of tidying up when I got up and made DS tidy up his mess. Then he went across the road to play with the neighbour's grandson that is visiting again, but he's just come back for lunch. This afternoon we'll go to the swimming pool as his school gave him a free swimming ticket to be used before the end of the year. Looking forward to relaxing in warm water and the sauna.

OH is playing guitar in the basement and DD is fast asleep, I don't expect to see her emerge from her room before late afternoon at the earliest Grin then she'll want to play Just Dance with me and maybe will even play with her little brother. I'm sure the neighbour's grandson will be over here at some point too.

BondStreet · 27/12/2024 11:07

I’m getting my hair done today (it’s a long process, not a natural brunette and have long ass hair!) and then will be taking the DC out on their new bikes.

I do need to figure out what to feed the DC tonight, meal plan always seems to go out the window during the festive period.

mondaytosunday · 27/12/2024 11:11

Not done much other than feed the animals! But for some unfathonable reason I went to bed last night at 4am!
So about to drop DD to train as she's off on a sleepover, then I'll walk the dog and then, and then, even if I kill myself doing it, I have to do my taxes. Not complicated, not hard, but time consuming (the three to four hours feels like three weeks) and depressing. I usually get it done in October/November but I just haven't been able to.
Then leftovers for solo dinner and Strike on TV.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/12/2024 11:12

Lazing around today; reading new books, watching favourite films, and drinking an extraordinarily large amount of tea, no doubt.

Making cream of turkey soup for supper later, and I may or may not make some sausage rolls to go with it.

brbg2g · 27/12/2024 11:16

Good morning.

Normality has resumed here DH back to work. Kids up and dressed, playing with their toys. Took a break from playing to go and collect the grocery ordered. Meal plan done for the next week, some normal eating resuming too as we didn't have too much leftovers. Dh has taken the last of them for his lunch later. We still have plenty of chocolate and biscuits to make our way through so will crack on with those today. 😋

Today I'm washing all the bedding and just playing with the kids, building their Lego sets, playing doctors and kitchens and trying our new board games.

Iamnotaloggrip · 27/12/2024 11:19

Lazy morning playing games and drinking tea. We’re meeting friends for lunch and exchanging gifts, then ILs popping over later to help us eat the leftovers!

NessaSmith · 27/12/2024 11:29

My favourite thread, I'll miss these when it goes back to weekends! Good morning @lucysmam and others! I like reading through them and getting snippets into peoples lives.

I'm still in bed! DW brought me coffee and breakfast and my laptop, so I've had a very lazy morning. She's gone to walk the dogs and I'm going to jump in the shower now and do a bit of diamond art.

We have absolutely masses of gammon leftover so will need to have that for lunch and tea I think!

Baneofmyexistence · 27/12/2024 11:37

Had a bit of a tidy round this morning and the kids have all had a bath each with christmas bath bombs! Got a food delivery soon then DS is desperate to play his new Harry Potter Cluedo so we’ll do that after lunch. DH will be home from work about 4 so then tea, bed for the kids and watch the big fat quiz. Very chilled!
