The Christmas tree is down!

ILikeMySuitcase · 26/12/2024 12:42

Just taken down the main living room tree, absolute workout getting it back in the box and as usual I found a couple of stars once I'd packed away the decorations.

Trying to get all the trees down today so I can deep clean the house before New Years.

Anyone else just want their space back and taking decorations down today?

We have gorgeous Christmas tree decorations, very special to me as my grandmother kept them safe through the occupation during the war but I still don’t want the tree up past Boxing Day.

Why would anyone have decorations they thought were ugly?

@ObtuseMoose @Parker231 @IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos , I agree, why would people put up decorations they don’t really like year after year? But they obviously do, as I hear many people moaning about how sick they are of them even on Christmas Day, and if you’re putting up things that you like and that don’t overwhelm you or your normal decorating style, I just don’t see how you’d be spending the day after Christmas taking everything down.

I maintain that this phenomenon is easily explained by the amount of people who I see with strobing seizure lights flashing in their living rooms while I’m out walking. It sickens me (meaning physically sick and uncomfortable, not morally outraged) and I’m not even in the room.

People put up decorations and get fed up with them because they put them up as soon as Halloween is over and then moan they’re sick of seeing them/ have no space in the house/ want to get back to normal. If they didn’t put their tree up so early they wouldn’t be so desperate to take it down on Boxing Day. I would feel the same if I’d put my tree up almost 2 months too early regardless of if I was using a real tree or not. People here are not saying they hate their decorations, they are saying they are fed up with the ‘me first’ mentality from those who have to be the first to put up their tree and post about it and also be the first to take it down and post about it. Nothing to do with their taste in decorations. If they didn’t like their own decorations then they wouldn’t have bought those decorations in the first place surely!

How are you personally impacted by someone putting their tree up before you or taking it down before you?

Or, it could just be that it's extra to the normal decorating style, and people want to get their "norm" back. We have one tree, a star and a couple of window stickers in our living room for our DD. It's all stuff that means something to us, it's nice things, nothing flashing or neon. But it's still extra. It's more than is normally there. And in our fairly small house, with a three year old whirlwind, I like the space we do have clear and a bit more minimal than it is right now.

So I can understand the want to take down the cards and the extra decorations and have the living room corner back from the tree. As much as I like my decorations and they aren't overwhelming, I like my normal too.

I’m obviously impacting you with my comments because you keep replying to them asking the same question over and over again 😂 Just going to ignore you now as if answered your pathetic question yesterday but you keep on asking the same question again and again! I swear you and the other poster are the same person 😂

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 27/12/2024 13:30

I’m horribly judgey and snooty about this sort of behaviour. I think people who put decorations up ridiculously early then take them down on Boxing Day are of limited intelligence or don’t understand what Christmas is due to a lack of basic education. I imagine they will be putting up their ‘Easter decorations’ forthwith (including some sort of plastic straw door wreathe with pastel eggs on) and setting out their special springtime sofa cushions and all the other shite they have bought from Home Bargains.

What about those of us who put their decorations up two weeks before Christmas and take them down on Boxing Day and don’t decorate for Easter. Will you also be critiquing my education and intelligence?

What? Which "pathetic" question did you answer of mine yesterday? If I recall correctly, you just talked about how people post things for validation and then moaned that people told you not to bother commenting if you thought that, because it gives them the validation you think they're desperate for.

And yes, we must be the same person, because two people couldn't possibly wonder how insane you are, independently from one another.

You kept saying why open the thread if I don’t like it and asked how is it bothering me! I told you the thread was there for public view and I will open it if I want to! I also said that the amount of attention seeking by having to be the first to put up a tree and take it down all while posting about how proud they are of doing so is attention seeking. I also asked why you kept commenting on my posts if it bothered you so much but you still continue to do so!

And resorting to insults now are we by calling me insane! 😂

You are boring me now so I’m not responding to your same question replies. Goodbye

I was talking to a different poster, who you quoted the same comment twice to say basically the same thing. You've then replied to my comment to someone else to tell me you're not responding to me...again.

I know what I did and my replies have been to that poster and to yourself! I commented twice on the same post because I wanted to? What’s your issue with my comments and how are they impacting you? 😂
You’re making a mountain out of a molehill just for the sake of commenting and trying to get one over on me 😂

You won't answer a question that was reasonably asked about how what someone online impacts you, tell everyone it's all about validation, comment on said post you believe is seeking validation, giving the attention you think they are after, and yet I'm the one that's making a mountain out of a molehill??

Again? How are my comments impacting you?? That’s the sort of question you keep asking people on here when they have a different opinion to you! And yes you are making a mountain out of a molehill and so much so that after yesterday you still come back to comment on more of my posts to the point you’re derailing the thread 😂

Yes. I'm the one derailing. You're absolutely right. I'm the one who won't answer questions about the opinion I've given and duplicate replies to posters saying the same thing.

No...wait...

Bye.
