Anyone else have a stinking cold today?

Caught it at the dentist on Friday. Weekend in bed unable to move for tiredness, and fever and chills…. fever broke Sunday. Felt more alive yesterday and ate something and was up a few hours. Finally slept last night. Today, was able to walk in the garden for 10 minutes to feel the sun and now coughing. I’m hoping tomorrow to feel more decent and maybe by the end of the week go on a small outing.

I wish all fellow cold-sufferers as merry of a Christmas as you can have and speedy recovery.

Me. It doesn’t sound as bad as yours but I haven’t been ill all year and suddenly I’m ill on my three days off over Christmas. Sympathy, get well soon!

I’m on my third week of it now. Still have a sore throat and cough and so, SO thirsty! Hoping I’m nearly through it? Hope your recovery is swifter than mine!

Mine started Sunday evening. I was meant to be travelling today but Christmas is postponed. I’m feeling more human now though & actually haven’t coughed for a couple of hours.

Mine started yesterday , ( DH birthday ) non stop sneezing , no appetite and total exhaustion
A bit better today , sore throat , head ache and still shattered

Aw. I’m sorry to hear it started on your DH’s birthday. That’s no fun at all. Glad to hear though it sounds like you are gradually on the mend.

Thanks @BeAzureAnt, glad your appetite’s coming back! I’ve graduated from the bed to the sofa & I’m thinking about heating up some soup.

I’ve been eating a lot of warm mushy oatmeal but I’m a little tired of staring at the Quaker on the box 😀 Soup is always good. When I was little I would be given flat ginger beer if I had an upset stomach.

Enjoy sitting on the sofa and sipping that soup!

Me too OP, this is day 7 or 8 I think...I was hoping it would be gone by now but the cough and phlegmy throat just keeps going - if I lie down to sleep I just keep coughing. I've a headache as well, probably because of the lack of sleep.

Thankfully I'm not hosting tomorrow, and still have an appetite, also I still have a week or so before I'm back to work so can just relax for a while. So fucking over it at this point.

Me. We broke up for the holidays on Friday and I woke up coughing on Saturday - teacher’s curse. I met my friend for lunch on Saturday but haven’t been over the door since. We’re hosting tomorrow 😬

Mine started with a dry cough on Sunday, soldiered on through yesterday but felt achey and cold last night so we to be early

Today everything aches, my throat is like razors, my ears are both unbelievably sore and the cough makes my lungs feel
like they’re on fire.

we’re supposed to be hosting the in-laws tomorrow and one of them has surgery scheduled for the new year. I’ve asked DH to try to put them off but I’m pretty sure they’ll still come.

Hope you can get the relaxation time in, and it lifts and you can get some sleep. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Oh boy. Hosting takes a lotta energy. Would the people coming over understand you are ill and help you out?

well, I’m not sure how you can host if you are ill, and do they want to get sick esp since surgery is in the cards? I’d tell DH no, if even for the sake of the health of his parents frankly. Hope you feel better soon. The only thing I found helped my cough was Ricola cough drops.

Lunch is going to be easy (thanks M&S!) so we could easily take them a plate round (they’re 5 minutes away) but they’re very stubborn and think they’re bombproof having got to their 80s with barely a hitch….

Eh, I’d have DH take them a plate and say they can’t be sick before surgery. They want to get to their 90s don’t they? Better for everyone.

Me started on Saturday evening and I've been floored since. So disappointed because christmas eve is my absolute favourite day of the year. I'm off work until the 6th Jan so I'm hoping I can recover and have my Christmas next week.

Thanks @BeAzureAnt I'm just devastated that I have a fridge full of delicious Christmas food (pre-arranged delivery) but no appetite or sense of taste!

Aw…well, lets hope you get to have some that with your taste intact very soon. I froze some of ours so I could enjoy it later. Nowt wrong in the New Year nibbling on some mince pies then, is there? have a good Christmas and hope you feel better soon.

Well they came, FIL is full of whatever this virus is too. They didn’t think to tell us 🙄

DH started coughing last night and went downhill fast. He’s in bed now.

Fingers crossed we can all shift it quickly.
