Cat has weed on Christmas presents

😭

As above. Fuck! They were in a suitcase and I was packing and I went to another room to get my clothes. So now I need to buy replacement Christmas presents for 6 people aged between 1 and 75 at Kings Cross tomorrow morning. All while carrying a million bag lady bags because my big suitcase is out of action due to the wee. Thank goodness I'd hardly put any clothes in I guess! What a start to Christmas!

But no one be nasty about my beautiful girl she is old and doddery and a bit gross but is utterly perfect.

One of our cats had cystitis and peed all over my sofa and carpet. Once he was sorted bought a new sofa and carpet as it stunk, first thing he did was pee on the new sofa, and every now and again he'll do the same.
Spent thousands trying to find out why and basically he's a arse, but we love him so he's staying

Our, legend cat, ate all of our cooked Christmas turkey one year. Not quite as bad as it sounds because, to be accurate it ate the left over turkey on boxing day. We had gone out. However it was a huge turkey and as my mum pointed out, enough for many more meals. We were really grateful it had scoffed it. It saved us from turkey sandwiches, Turkey risotto, turkey pie and turkey soup.

Op I’m in Australia not UK but had to do a last minute ship for ex dh family so my little boy can gift people. I was on a very tight budget,

I found the least stressful thing was to go to a department store. There were many discounts on candles & chocolates & Christmas bears so it wasn’t much more expensive.

It was the least stressful thing.

For the presents that are ok but the packaging is not - could you say they were under your tree and you over watered it and it leaked?

This did actually happen to me last year so not out of the realms of possibility?

Patienceinshortsupply · 24/12/2024 07:09

We could never put a suitcase out in our house or leave a plastic bag around as our late cat would happily piss on them. He didn't have bladder issues either, he was just being a bastard.

I miss the old bugger though.

LIZS · 24/12/2024 07:10

There's a Hotel Chocolat at Kings Cross or St P if that helps, also M and S and Waitrose foods.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 24/12/2024 07:11

And this os why I won't have pets🤢

My late greyhound pooed on my bed as revenge when I told him off for going into a room he knew he wasn’t allowed to. He really hated being told off, not just cats that are a nightmare. Diva dogs too. 😅

(In my defence he was extremely well trained, but need a very soft touch, the difference between saying “Rover please don’t do that” softly to “Rover stop that right now you naughty dog” in a cross voice was a poo on the bed.

One of mine is 15 this year and she can do no wrong in my eyes. She can sit anywhere, have anything she wants, sleep in my bed or the couch as she pleases, slap and hiss at her little sister if she's being annoying, and I've converted her favourite windowsill into a self-heating bed. 😅Its a bit ridiculous but she's been with me almost my entire adult life.

Her little sister is also quite indulgent, but she does get timeouts/evicted from a room if she's being mental/stealing food/trying to destroy something.

@oakleaffy , thank you for checking.

She had full vet check and bloods in October so pretty sure she's fine, just a little bitch. I don't think stress induced cystitis is the cause at the moment, but will use Cystaid over the next few days just in case and have spritzed some Feliway on her igloo in case she is feeling worried.

To be honest she's just always been a bit of a pain picking an odd place to wee. I've got it sorted over the years as have found a litter she likes (keep her shut out of the spare room which is her main target and no longer have a doormat) but still have a mishap once or twice a year. I just hadn't thought the suitcase would be a target!

There’s a more relaxing spray on amazon that i use in my room as my cat has horrendous anxiety and cystitis.
it’s baephar herbal calming spray.

bouncydog · 24/12/2024 07:32

Two of our kittens jumped onto our waterbed whilst I was changing it and chased around on it. Cue holed in several places from their very sharp claws. I patched it up with a cycle repair kit in panic and remade the bed. When DH mentioned it was wet on his side the next morning I tried to convince him he must have wet the bed! Unfortunately he didn’t buy it and we had to buy a new mattress!

UndeniablyGenX · 24/12/2024 07:36

I remember the year I bought my cats a Christmas stocking each in early December, carefully hid them away.

Came home from work a couple of days later to find they'd found the stockings, opened them and eaten most of the contents 😃

Oh god yes, any shopping, carrier bags, shoes, luggage, boxes, piles of papers, laundry, corners of rooms ... all the pee and vomit and drool. And we loved her. Still do, actually, though she's been gone a while.

Cat ownership (whichever way round it works) is not for the faint of heart.

Lovecat · 24/12/2024 07:40

@Mummyoflittledragon did our dogs come from the same litter? Mine (KCS) thinks all white things left on the floor are for him to wee on.

Not the pee pads, though, oh no 🙄. Now he's old enough to know better, it's discarded post (looking at you, DD) or important letters that need replying to (glaring at you, DH). And any carrier bags he can find (all of us 😬)

It's a very good job he's cute...

Zylkene capsules are very good too. You open the tablet and mix the powder in with their food. Good for fireworks night etc.

It's a safe milk protein that somehow acts as a kind of cat valium.

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 24/12/2024 07:48

Good luck op. What exactly are you trying to replace and we can give suggestions.

Having done some last minute shopping there last week I would say that Hamleys offered false hope that soon turned to bitter disappointment. Just full of plastic tat.

Oliver bonus is often good for an emergency present.

Lush has a pop up wicked themed stall on the concourse

If you have more time Coal Drops yard might be worth a visit.

Good luck!

Phase2 · 24/12/2024 07:54

You'll be fine there's a smiths a boots and a marks and Spencer as welll.

Gremlins101 · 24/12/2024 08:00

If it was wrapped in cellophane I really don't think that's an issue.

Obviously things that actually got pee on them you will have to bin.

Yes. A joke. Hilarious. Keep your day job

SillyShoes · 24/12/2024 08:12

Good luck op. Please let us know how you get on with the presents. I've got loads to do today but am currently stuck on the toilet because my cat jumped up and curled up on my knee. Obviously I can't move.

coolkatt · 24/12/2024 08:12
