Cat has weed on Christmas presents

😭

As above. Fuck! They were in a suitcase and I was packing and I went to another room to get my clothes. So now I need to buy replacement Christmas presents for 6 people aged between 1 and 75 at Kings Cross tomorrow morning. All while carrying a million bag lady bags because my big suitcase is out of action due to the wee. Thank goodness I'd hardly put any clothes in I guess! What a start to Christmas!

But no one be nasty about my beautiful girl she is old and doddery and a bit gross but is utterly perfect.

Oh No! I don’t have any cats. My little dog is rather cat like in nature and a little sod. Maybe she was a cat in a former life. She was trained by the breeder on puppy pads and anything white for wee was a target for years. But not puppy pads in my house. Oh nooo she never used one of those. Her party trick was pooing on the white sofa. She is walked every day btw and when she was a puppy I would put her outside to go to the loo and she formed a habit of coming back in not having done it and making a beeline for the sofa when I was distracted. I had to then catch her in the act to stop her doing it. Any white washing left next to the washing machine was a target for a few years. When she was 3 she we’ed on a duvet without a cover.. a duvet I’d just washed and dried no less. She seems to have grown out of that, I least I think. But 2 days ago she puked on the mattress protector after I’d stripped the bed. She is such a messy little sod. But like your lovely cat, I love her too. Will be sticking to male dogs I think next time!!

Oh god. They're a nightmare yet amazing aren't they. Ours were all over various items. And poo too. Usually in nice soft clothes my DS had left on the floor so you'd be sniffing trying to find it. Thank goodness for London and you sound like you can afford it hopefully. It'll be a legendary story so enjoy sharing that

There are a couple of cellophane wrapped things that look like they might be ok now out of their cellophane and wondering if I can gift without the wrapping e.g. box of chocs, candle. The thing is, I couldn't explain why I was gifting without the wrapping without totally putting people off the gift!

Buy some cellophane ( florist?) and do a sort of oversized wrap gathered in a ribbon.
If you’ve a couple of things that could go together to make one gift put in a small basket or box —- card shops sell fancy boxes with lids—- with some shredded paper.

Poor kitty! Possibly a protest wee? Have you displeased her? Maybe get some Feliway to appease her.

I don't think you can gift cat pee presents to people who don't already have a close relationship with the cat, but the station has lots of shops and if all else fails just get people gift cards with a note from the cat saying "I peed on your actual gift. Merry Christmas."

UmopapIsdn · 24/12/2024 05:48

You know you’re tired when you read the thread title and think 'where'd the cat get weed from?'

Sorry about the presents, OP!

ToriTheStoryteller · 24/12/2024 06:06

I was feeling sorry for myself last night after ours projectile vomited approximately 3x the volume that she'd eaten for dinner, all over the Christmas TV magazine. I hadn't even read any of it!!

But I got off lightly (after we had to freeze for half an hour with the windows open to get rid of the smell).

Good luck today 😹

She’s right about Richard Osman to be fair.

This was my exact thought 🤣

Autumndayz77 · 24/12/2024 06:26

sympathies OP my dog had cushings and over his last year we had lots of wee accidents. Too late for now, but I recommend the dr Beckmann pet stain and odour remover!

MyrtleStrumpet · 24/12/2024 06:27

If you have time to pop over to King's Cross, there's an Oliver Bonas (good for candles) and a florist.

LittleMosIron · 24/12/2024 06:27

Last minute shopping in London on Christmas eve? Well op if you have nothing else, you have my condolences.
Holding my presents a little tighter this morning.

Godspeed.

Awww bless her! Mine do that kind of thing, but like yours they are old
and doolally and leaky. Sounds like you’ve got a good plan for replacements, good luck!
(PS we have to put presents under the tree after breakfast on Christmas Day, ready to unwrap then and there, or one of the furry wee bastards is guaranteed to piss on as many of them as he can reach before being stopped 😂)

Mine, god rest their precious souls, used to unwrap everything.

DaisyDando · 24/12/2024 06:30

My cat was as good as gold for many years and then when he got elderly, he made a few strategic wee decisions.
He also weed in an open suitcase, all over clothes. Luckily I was unpacking, rather than packing but I assumed he considered it to be a new luxury litter tray. Forgave him, obviously.

RubyRobin1 · 24/12/2024 06:34

Not the same, but my old guinea pig weed in my exes shoe.
He was annoyed.
I’ve kept guinea pigs ever since.

Good luck with present buying O.P. Your cat sounds adorable. 😻

Lemonadeand · 24/12/2024 06:35

This has happened twice in my life- once when I was a kid and once to my boyfriend. Is there anything you can wash and rewrap?

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 24/12/2024 06:42

It's a plastic suitcase,

That didn't surprise me. It is probably the plastic which attracted her. There's something about plastic and cellophane which triggers that.

Good luck for today's shopping.

LennyRaven · 24/12/2024 06:43

Be aware next time and keep the door shut or your cat in another room while packing.

I imagine op has thought of this

Itsgottobeme · 24/12/2024 06:44

Don't forget as an owner and lover of said animal you will smell the intensity even less! Do not give. Cass piss honks.
There are actually hell a lot of shops at kings Cross. But I hope you have no budget!

Gift bags are your solution!

MinnieBalloon · 24/12/2024 06:47

You absolutely CANNOT give any of the gifts that animal has pissed on. The fact that you are even considering that is vile.

They need to go straight in the bin.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 24/12/2024 00:11

My late cat shat on my wedding dress.

(Was in a box on top of my wardrobe and she was clearly having some stomach issues).

I loved her so I was (mostly) okay about it.

But I do share your frustration.

"box" that was where you went wrong... cats can't resist

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 24/12/2024 06:51

@turnsout well at least you will all have a laugh around the dinner table when you recount the story of why they all got crappy presents!!!

Ophy83 · 24/12/2024 06:54

Good news is you're going through St Pancras! As well as fortnum's, hatchards etc there's an oliver bonas, whistles, fat face so hopefully you can replace most of the gifts you bought with something fairly similar

FeegleFrenzy · 24/12/2024 06:55

St Pancras has more shops than King’s Cross so try there as well.

sympathy, I have a rogue wee cat too, mainly seems to be my bed though! Sometimes the sofa!

Neeenaaw · 24/12/2024 06:58

Oh god. My cat did this to the presents under the tree once and we didn’t work it out until I was handing the gifts out. Yuk. He still got xtra Christmas snuggles for being the cutest little smushy mushy though. Hopefully some of yours are recoverable
