DH and I went to Morrisons at 9am. Spent nearly £200.
Went straight through the checkout and home for 9.45am.
Off to the farm shop for meat in and out in 40 minutes.

I went to M&S food hall at lunch time, queue to get in and an hour's wait to get to the checkout. I was so lucky as they directed me to the cafe checkout and I was done in about 35 minutes.

Nothavingfunrightnow · 23/12/2024 14:55

About an hour in M&S, but then I shopped only for me and one other person.

ThewrathofBethDutton · 23/12/2024 14:55

25 minutes in & out M&S.
20 minutes in & out Aldi.
Parked , done and dusted, home by 8.15am.

gladwhiskers · 23/12/2024 15:19

Served straight away in Home Bargains and Farm Foods.

Auntieoftheyear · 23/12/2024 15:21

Almost two hours at Tesco during which I was contemplating starting a juice fast tomorrow to avoid the queues :D

mitogoshigg · 23/12/2024 15:22

Nipped to Lidl at lunchtime, in and out, no queues at the self checkout

ThisWeeksGripe · 23/12/2024 15:26

In and out of Tesco in about 25 minutes at 9am this morning. Very quick and easy, but the carpark was definitely filling up fast.

ShortyShorts · 23/12/2024 15:27

In and out of Morrisons at 2pm and very surprised.

LittleBitAlexa · 23/12/2024 15:28

In and out of M&S to pick up order in 10 minutes. I was dreading it as I'd seen milions of TikToks about people queuing round the block for hours.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 23/12/2024 15:30

25 minutes in Aldi. 15 minutes around shop 10 minutes to get through tills.

35 minutes in Morrisons. 15 minutes getting the stuff. 20 minutes to get through the tills!

Got some stuff a few days ago though - been staggering it, because of the sell by dates. Spent about the same time in each shop then.

No idea how much we have spent. Not a lot. Around £100 altogether on the 2 trips. Excluding booze. Spent about £40 on that.

Bambooshoot · 23/12/2024 15:33

We were in and out in twenty minutes (at 6:45pm this evening) - and they were happy to do home delivery for the heavy stuff tomorrow morning. Not crowded at all in Hong Kong, even though Christmas is very much celebrated here too!

DilemmaDelilah · 23/12/2024 15:38

Wish I had been at the supermarket! It took 3/4 hr to get to the hospital this morning... Usually 20 minutes tops, but for some reason traffic was at a standstill so we had to wait for a gap so that we could do a U turn and go another way. Then an hour and a half waiting to have blood taken. I

Going to the supermarket would have been a doddle!

dottydodah · 23/12/2024 16:00

Experience has taught me over the years to get there early.Up at 5.40am in SB 6.20! Got out 8.00 .Lots of Turkeys to choose from ,Plenty of veg .Home 8.30 had breakfast ,Fell asleep for an hour .Feel quite pleased!

RabbitsRock · 23/12/2024 16:08

Arrived at Asda around 7.45 am & reckon we were about 2 hours but then we did have DD16 with us who is a serial shopper! Long queues at the till - we struck up a conversation with a lovely couple in front of us. Spent about £150 - I had a Rewards voucher for just over £20. Already got the turkey which was £58. About another 30 mins in Tescos for bits we couldn’t get in Asda plus stocking fillers for DH then Aldi for smoked salmon ( hoping for the Bucks Fizz one that they had last year which was to die for but sadly it’s not available)I also treated myself to some white roses & a bar of pistachio nougat.

Toottooot · 23/12/2024 16:09

10 minutes from arriving at Markies carpark to then gettitng back in my car after shopping.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 23/12/2024 16:12

Not this morning but yesterday, there were queues trying to get into Tescos. DH dropped me off at 10.45am I spent 5 min trying to find a trolley. I spent just over an hour taking my time, lots of congestion at certain aisles, meat aisle was 4 deep so I squeezed in and grabbed a gammon, it was the only meat I could reach. I then spent 20 mins wondering around the toy aisles as they were quiet, DH text to say he was queuing for parking so I went and grabbed the ice creams we needed and walked straight up to a check out even though all the other checkouts had massive queues no one thought to work their way down to the checkouts next to the basket and trolley shops as they were empty. DH arrived just in time to pack the shopping.

Ive never been one to complain about families going shopping together, we usually have our DCs with us and like a family shop but I really didn’t get whole families shopping together yesterday, it was crazy as it was, but then there were families complaining that it’s busy when there are 5 of them, with trolleys, prams and additional kids. DH took our 3 to do an activity while I shopped and picked me up after. I think I’d have lost the plot if all 5 of us had attempted to shop together.

Did Tesco at 6.30am, then on to Booths then home by 7.30. Really quite and peaceful. Went back to bed for an hour.

didistutter56 · 23/12/2024 16:15

45 minutes in Sainsbury’s at 6am this morning, but I was struggling to find what I wanted. Nice and quiet though. £130 spent.

hattie43 · 23/12/2024 16:18

Marks and Spencer's , arrived at 9.30 and left about 10.30. We only bought a few last minute bits so not battling our way around for too much stuff

bifurCAT · 23/12/2024 16:19

Lidl was actually no busier than usual.

ghostbusters · 23/12/2024 16:52

Morrison's. Arrived about 9.20am this morning. Just really needed to do my usual weekly shop as I collected the Christmas day food from the butchers after Morrison's. I was hanging about the till at 9.53am with booze in my trolley (I'm in Scotland) waiting for 10am along with at least 3 or 4 other shoppers 😂 Had to go to 2 other shops on my way home and the town centre was madness. Queues of cars in all directions, in and out of all car parks.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/12/2024 17:37

Picked up my click and collect from Sainsbury's when I finished work at 7am with no issues at all. Needed to pick up a couple bits for DM but used the handheld scanner and was out in 15 minutes, although the place was absolute carnage.

A colleague who took over from me at 6.30am had done a Tesco shop beforehand for some last minute bits, and described it as the worst she's ever seen it 😲

Trumpetoftheswan2 · 23/12/2024 17:41

Left home at 7.30am, back by 9am, £200 lighter but the weekly shop and Christmas shopping done in relaxed and quiet environment.

Starzinsky · 23/12/2024 17:43

Went to Sainsbury's at 1pm this afternoon. Was queuing for almost an hour to pay.

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/12/2024 17:44

Went out about 9am. Sainsbury’s first, then Aldi for something Sainsbury didn’t have, then Marks. All pretty easy with no more queues than say, a typical Saturday.
