DH and I went to Morrisons at 9am. Spent nearly £200.
Went straight through the checkout and home for 9.45am.
Off to the farm shop for meat in and out in 40 minutes.

Experience has taught me over the years to get there early.Up at 5.40am in SB 6.20! Got out 8.00 .Lots of Turkeys to choose from ,Plenty of veg .Home 8.30 had breakfast ,Fell asleep for an hour .Feel quite pleased!

Fuck that I'd rather starve 🤣

Dinodrivingacar · 23/12/2024 17:52

I was at Asda for 8 and it was busy but did the scan and go thing, so didn't have to wait ages, scan and go checkouts were pretty clear. Got pretty much everything I wanted. Took about an hour all in. I went Sunday for a customer at work and it was crazy busy. Popped into m and s to pick up my order and was first in line!

FeliznaviDogs · 23/12/2024 17:53

M and s. Forty mins including queueing time - at 10.30 am. However it was heaving and one particular woman kept following me with her trolley and ramming my arse. There was literally no where to move to - the security guards were directing shoppers like traffic!

Appalonia · 23/12/2024 17:58

I wanted to buy some nice handwash in TK Maxx this afternoon, but there were about 30 pp in the queue so I walked out!

I'd rather starve than fight my way around a supermarket later in the day and queue for an hour to pay. Getting up, getting out early and getting on with it makes it a hell of a lot easier. Plus everything's in stock. I'd been to Asda, M&S and the farm shop by 7.30 this morning.

ForgottenPasswordNewAccount · 23/12/2024 17:59

Aldi 30 mins total including travel time

Knittedfairies2 · 23/12/2024 18:01

We waited an hour for a click and collect at Asda this morning; the app wasn't working.

notnorman · 23/12/2024 18:01

It was grid lock in m and s this morning and the shelves were empty. Utterly ridiculous

DBriana · 23/12/2024 18:03

At 8, 45am, M&S madness, I didn't go in.

Went to Booths instead, very quiet, no queues. Staff still filling the veg aisle.

Laughingravy · 23/12/2024 18:07

At M&S just before 8am, 15 mins tops for a few 'naice' bits and no queue to pay. Then Morrisons for everything else and back in the car at just gone 9am. All good until I checked one pack of Morrisons nibbles - BB 17th!!! Fuck sake. Can't be arsed going back but six days out of date ain't good.

Ohmych · 23/12/2024 18:08

I went into Aldi at 9.30am yesterday and was out in amy hour was very busy though so many people. Went to Asda after and that was the same. Had to pop in to Asda today for stuff we forgot and omg that was a hundred times busier than yesterday. Every single space in the car park was full I had to drive around for a space. I have never seen the carpark so full.

leakycauldron · 23/12/2024 18:12

I got to tescos for 4.30am... I sat in warm car and refused to join the crazy people queuing at the door in the cold!!
Doors opened at 5am and it was pandemonium! They'd put a pyramid of veg right in the entrance so everyone was stopping at that and blocking the entrance.
Loads of packing crates left in the aisle making it impossible to get to both sides! Thankfully the crowds thinned out about halfway through and it was somewhat more manageable. Saw 2 people I know so felt less of a crazy person for going so early and everyone was in good spirits!
By time I came out at 6am the car park was rammed. Home and done by 6.30
Dread to think what it was like later in the day!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 23/12/2024 18:18

Had to drop dd at work for 8 this morning. She works at M&S.
parked in the big Waitrose next door. In Waitrose for 8, scanpaygo and out for 8.30, into M&S to grab a few bits and change a drrssing gown as got the wrong colour. Coffee in Gail’s and home for 9.30.
queues to get in to both car parks by the time we left and still a huge queue when I went to pick dd up at 4. Queue so bad for the car park, I asked her to come to the car park the other side of the underpass so I could park up.

Elphamouche · 23/12/2024 18:18

Got to Tesco at 6.20am, left at 7.40 £250 lighter. It was empty when I got there, heaving when I left!

DH got to M&S at 9 and walked back out, he was not going in!

allmybooksarefromthelibrary · 23/12/2024 18:19

Went into M&S food hall this morning to get a few bits we'd forgotten - it was quieter than normal and no queue to pay, which there quite often is on a normal day!

Bigboysmademedoit · 23/12/2024 18:32

Sainsbury’s at 7am for click and collect - only person at the desk! Quick shop for general groceries and no queue at all for Self Service. Off to M&S (2 minutes away) for 8am Click and Collect and last minute impulse buys 😂 - paid on my phone so no queueing and home for shortly after 8.30am. DC has a Christmas job in M&S so took them up for 2pm start - carnage!!!! Queues, no parking - took me 10 mins to even try to get out of the car park!!!

gladiator12 · 23/12/2024 18:43

Aldi about 2,30 this afternoon, Surprisingly empty, no empty shelves though. no queues at tills, took about 45 mins in all and got everything I went in for,

QueSyrahSyrah · 23/12/2024 18:49

About 40 minutes at Waitrose with Scan & Go. I parked on a residential street nearby, a friend queued over 35 minutes just to get into the car park.

Lifelover16 · 23/12/2024 18:50

Waitrose when it opened at 7am. Almost empty, in and out in about 40 mins. Glad I went early, queue to get in the car park at 9.30

Hope you got yours.

I did Sainsbury's delivery on Friday!!! So glad. It was last minute.

£450 worth of food for 3 days for 10. I definitely over bought but hoping to freeze.

I needed wrapping paper and milk etc today but went to a petrol station.

Noooo way am I going to a supermarket or into town!! Haha

Sunnyside4 · 23/12/2024 18:59

Car in garage today into tomorrow, so ended up getting some things on foot around teatime - £13. Took approx 10 mins. Will go out for an early walk tomorrow and get the rest. It's only fresh things I'm getting, as have bought things I'm not cooking/baking in advance, as well as gravy, hollandaise sauce, pickles etc.

fussychica · 23/12/2024 19:03

Super quick, walked into town 9.45. Traffic was OK but car parks busy but no queues to get in. Still glad we didn't take the car.
Lidls 10 mins, only one in front of us at the checkout. Our store doesn't have self checkouts.
Walked over to Waitrose, picked up turkey and a few last minute things left on the list. No queue at the self checkout so out in another 10-15 minutes.
Went straight to Zumba at 10.30 and DH took the shopping home.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/12/2024 19:05

We were at M&S when it opened at 7, just for turkey, fresh OJ and a few bits. Didn’t even have to queue to pay - out within half an hour.
