The bravest of the brave .
Her courage, her determination, her insistence of seeing this through.
May her c*nt of a husband and all the other filth rot for what they did

It's the bravest thing I've ever seen a woman do. I wish all possible comfort and peace for her. A true heroine.

Agreed I haven't ever seen such bravery and we have Steven Lawrences Mum. Still campaigning for the love of her son. When we want to as women we can help change the world.

WillowTit · 20/12/2024 05:10

to go to court every day and face these men, listen to their excuses, was extraordinarily brave i agree

Itsalwaysfools · 20/12/2024 05:19

It was discussed on Radio 4 yesterday. I had to turn it off. I wanted to listen, as I wanted to show her the respect of hearing her story but it just chills me and horrifies me in the most visceral of ways. What men are capable of never ceases to amaze me.

Bixterret · 20/12/2024 05:41

What I find sad is the fact she had to tell her children, and in turn her grandchildren will know.

How do you tell them? She is my woman of the decade, I hope she has found peace.

Clarice99 · 20/12/2024 05:56

Gisele Pelicot is an amazing woman - courageous, resilient, determined and dignified.

CurlewKate · 20/12/2024 07:29

@niadainud "I find it mind-blowing that someone did this to their wife. The person they are supposed to love."

Honestly- your post needed to stop after the 9th word. "I find it mind-blowing that someone did this"

Didn't know that, but they at least gave a decent sentence whereas the sentences for rape In the UK are a fucking joke

I wonder if the publicity across the world (thanks to giseles bravery) has ensured he got the maximum sentence.

EmpressaurusKitty · 20/12/2024 07:37

I was chatting about this with a couple of people last night. The woman knew all about it. The man was vaguely aware. I was really shocked by that, maybe I shouldn’t have been.

babyproblems · 20/12/2024 07:42

dollybird · 19/12/2024 18:54

I just read that one of the men is HIV positive. I watched the channel 5 documentary. The whole thing is horrific, but Gisele is unbelievably brave.

He was HIV positive and knew it when he raped her several times without a condom. He also discussed drugging and raping his own mother with Dominique Pelicot. Evil evil evil.
What a heroic woman she is, I hope she finds peace. Agree the sentences absolutely aren’t enough for any of them. Shameful

I can edit my own posts, thanks.

Of course what DP did was utterly horrific, horrifying, etc., and would have been in any context. That goes without saying.

The documentary on Channel 5 is a hard watch, both DH and I said we felt quite distressed watching it because it's just so awful. But I would recommend everyone watches it. Her story is horrific, but needs to be heard. Although when one of her rapists was making his excuses and calling himself a victim I did want to throw something at the TV.

Her bravery is amazing. To waive her anonymity, to have to walk past 50 of her rapists every day in court. It was she who insisted they play the videos of her being raped in the packed courtroom with everyone present, including the media. And even the brief description of those videos from the journalists in the documentary was utterly chilling.

She is an inspiration.

On top of what Gisele has gone through, the fall out for the whole family has been terrible. Apparently, her relationship with her daughter is strained as her daughter feels unsupported by her mother, one of her son's marriages didn't survive the photos taken of his wife. It's not as if the whole family will be able to walk into the sunset, arms round each other, having reached closure. I find this so sad. He has ruined so much .

MancMa · 20/12/2024 07:47

Someone on the news commented that if her husband could find that many ( i won’t call them men , they are disgusting animals) willing to participate in this depravity within a short distance of their home, then what does that say for the rest of France? Or anywhere else I suppose.
He should burn in hell long with the rest of them and Madame Pelicot should receive the highest honour France can award, but no doubt won’t.

What with this and the sentencing of Sara Sharif’s father, I despair for the future of women’s rights , quite depressing how low some men are.

I don't know how his daughter even begins to process what happened to her. I agree with her that it's likely he raped her, but she will never know exactly what happened and that must be haunting. It is dreadful that he essentially threw a grenade into his entire family.

Fabulouslyunfabulous · 20/12/2024 07:54

She is amazing. I admire her hugely.

I can’t imagine how shocking this has been for the whole family.

@User346897543 you can say cunt loudly and proudly on mumsnet without blocking out letters. He is an utter cunt.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 20/12/2024 07:55

My heroine.

NewMe2024 · 20/12/2024 07:59

She’s a phenomenal woman who has done all women a huge service by going public even as she is managing this massive trauma. She deserves absolute heroine status.

20 years is laughable in light of what he / they did.

Startingagainandagain · 20/12/2024 08:08

Magnificent, courageous woman.

I truly hope this will encourage more victims of rape/sexual assault to report it to the police and push the justice system to better deal with these reports and achieve more convictions.

For me it is a good reminder of how many men still see women as nothing but sexual objects that they can use as they wish. The fact that a small community had 50 and more men willing to do this and not a single one that showed concerned to her welfare is damning.

I think we need to stop indulging the 'not all men' and 'what about the men' whinging that immediately starts every time women challenge male violence.

Unless society accepts that there is an epidemic of toxic masculinity, degrading porn and sexual violence then women and girls will continue to suffer.

BringMeTea · 20/12/2024 08:08

Brave woman. May she find a way to a peaceful and long life. 💙

ChristmasPudd1990 · 20/12/2024 08:14

I have no words. What an amazing woman. One thing I can't get my head around is that for some of these "men"🤢their partners have stood by them. Even filmed kissing them goodbye before they went into court!! How can they, knowing what they've done?!? 😡

At least one of her grandchildren is an adult. Her grandson - looked to be early twenties - was in court with her yesterday and had his arm round her as she left.

Jellycatspyjamas · 20/12/2024 08:18

She is by an measure an incredible woman, brave and dignified.

There are 11 other depraved men featured on the videos that the French police failed to identify and were not prosecuted.
🤞they will be named and shamed identified and charged soon also.

I hope a widely read French paper or magazine publishes the names and photographs of each and every man involved in the depravity.

Gisele you are one strong woman ⭐️

Apologies.
Apparently there are at least 21 other rapists who have evaded prosecution.

All men have it in them to rape. They pretend they don't, but they do.
We all know this.

In fact, as a woman, getting married increases your chances of getting murdered quite considerably.

This woman is taking them all on. Amazing.

What a ridiculous post.
