I think its worked out quite well really. I had the Tesco vouchers and also aldi vouchers. I did put 11.00 towards the Tesco shop and 8.00 towards the aldi shop . I done a morrisons shop that had the alcohol and soft drinks. Which my older kids have basically paid for . I don't think that's bad based on 9 people.

£70

Alcohol, you bought alcohol when you’re receiving vouchers for your kids lunches - how very dare you. You should be drinking wholesome water with every meal - stick a slice of lemon in it to feel festive (and it’s one of your 5 a day).

Just getting in there before the mumsnet moral massive comes along 😉

Il probably get it handed to me for my opinion..

I could be wrong here, but Im assuming the £60 voucher was a gov funded free school meal voucher??Schools send these out to lowest income families (which is extrememly generous) and im all for it.
Without sounding like a stuck up cow, i personally think it would have been great to use to put towards the family meal as opposed to so much UPFs. Junk food is so expensive!!!!

Im not judging in anyway and hope you all enjoy your xmas. I would have put it towards feeding everyone an actual meal. Afterall its meant to be towards feeding your kids and help with food poverty.

Not trying to offend you OP. Sorry if my comment has done so.

You are judging though, aren't you?

Your absolutely right . I feel so ashamed. I will edit the shop right now. I shall put fresh lemons... is lime OK?

OP posts:
Jellycatspyjamas · 20/12/2024 10:53

Yes, lime is fine but can’t you just pluck your fresh citrus from the tree in your garden?

ForeverinBJ · 20/12/2024 10:53

Surely it would be cheaper to buy a bag of potatoes and roast them yourself??? And they'd taste loads better

I just reread the quote. It said about having the kids a proper meal . So is Turkey, roast potatoes , Yorkshire, veg . Pigs in blankets. Not a proper meal. Do people think we are having prossed cheese cake for dinner

It also takes a fuck of a lot longer. Maybe @I4gotmyname has other things she's rather be doing with her time?

To be honest I would love to escape to the kitchen but I can't 🤣

My God, OP only asked how much you reckoned her shop cost. She didn’t ask for recipes for home made cheesecake or judgement on what her kids are eating over Christmas and who the hell wants a couple of Jaffa cakes for pud rather than a nice slice of cheesecake? This place is nuts.

Do you seriously think my kids won't have lunch.

Ok

catphone · 20/12/2024 12:53

I’m autistic and it’s only just occurred to me that you were joking about not affording lunch for your children.
Your children can’t have gotten their autism off you

You made lots of assumptions. I can only reply /respond to what you say.

Autism could have come from me or their father maybe both .

You need social and communication deficits to be autistic

You said you couldn’t buy lunch for your children in one comment. That’s why I replied. I don’t know what you’re talking about

Of course they could have got autism from OP. Autistic people can still make a joke you know.

I can’t work out whether the real issue with other MNs is the shop bought cheesecake and ready prepared roast potatoes or the fact that OP had a £ school meals voucher
What is really upsetting MNs here

No ones taking the piss out of you. You was happy all the time you were posting judgemental things directed at me . No one had taken the piss been nasty to you in anyway shape or form.

You did not get the joke that's fine. You could have simply said . I think i misunderstood the joke. And leave it at that. I would have simply replied that's fine MN can be confusing

Yes, well we know don’t we. I mean I’d be the first to complain if OP had spent her voucher on fags and booze but some nice treats and ready to go Christmas dinner so the kids can have a lovely Christmas? You’d have to be a special kind of snob to find offence in that.
