I felt really tired at the start of the week and now I’m sniffly, scratchy throat and headache. The office has been full of people with heavy colds etc and I can tell it’s getting me just in time for my time off and the celebrations! Anyone else?! Any tips of quick cures much appreciated!

I am. I've been really ill, shivering and lethargic the last couple of days; and only a week or two ago I had a really bad cold, which lasted much longer than the "three days coming, three days staying, three days going". There's a lot going round.

Damekitty · 18/12/2024 08:58

Yes, I’ve woken up achey all over and my skin feels sore to the touch! Weird.

I work in a school so feel like I'm dodging bullets last week and this. Today is my last day in the office but this morning I've woken up feeling v tired and headachey šŸ˜ž

marthaisintheway · 18/12/2024 10:03

Yes, me. I've got a sore, scratchy throat, cough and a headache. Feel generally yeuk.
My DH had it last week and it didn't last long,so fingers crossed.

BabyPudu · 18/12/2024 10:52

Yep, second cold in 5 weeks! Yesterday was horrible, shaking with cold, all bunged up, feeling sick. DP had it last week and he seems ok now soā€¦šŸ¤žso much to do but on the sofa under 3 blankets, dozing and shivering!

Cloud44 · 18/12/2024 11:10

Sorry to hear others are feeling ropey too. Any ideas how to shake it off quickly?!

Youngest getting over it, I'm halfway through it and eldest son just starting..... happy Christmas!!:🤣

samarrange · 18/12/2024 11:13

We've come a long way. A couple of years ago it wouldn't have been the lurgy, it would have been the c-word. Which is still around, of course. But nobody seems to be rushing for the LFTs, which is probably a good sign...

Zippedydodah · 18/12/2024 11:19

I’m in bed with the worst cold I’ve ever had, I had a flu and Covid jabs so presumably isn’t’ either of those. I feel really nauseous, no appetite and I have just fallen asleep in the bath for the first time in my life!
My throat’s like sandpaper and my headache is awful.
Misery me šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

losingweightandgainingconfidence · 18/12/2024 11:58

Throat is scratchy but that could just be the fact I've been eating like crap lately.

I'm going to eat about six oranges after work and hope that helps 🤣

You can still get both those things when jabbed. It just means the symptoms are less severe supposedly. Hope you’re better soon.

Alittlebitfluffy · 18/12/2024 12:13

YES

Feeling very sorry for myself.. took a big dose of vitamin C so hoping it helps see it off..!

Squirrelsnut · 18/12/2024 12:16

Me! I feel achey and a bit sick, scratchy throat, but the worst thing is the dizziness!

BrieAndChilli · 18/12/2024 12:16

I'm just getting over another bug. Was ill with a nasty cough bug a month or so ago.
This time I had a horrible scratchy throat which resulted in me losing my voice over the weekend. accompanied by a banging headache and tiredness.
Back in the office today after working from home.

frecklejuice · 18/12/2024 12:19

Last week I felt like I was fighting something off it I've had my flu jab and have been necking echinacea so maybe that helped? I still don't feel 100%, can't wait for the kids to finish school so we can get away from all of the germs.

MiddleAgedDread · 18/12/2024 12:24

oh i'm waiting for it, a week to go to Christmas means I'm due to be struck down with a heavy cold in the next 3 days if previous years are anything to go by!! It's as traditional as turkey for Christmas dinner. I don't think I've had a cold all year so it's due to be spectacular.

Cloud44 · 18/12/2024 17:15

It’s rubbish this close to Christmas!

My jabs were several months ago. DH had a cold last week and he’s always very generous when he’s ill!

Crunchymum · 18/12/2024 18:06

I started 6 days ago so am hoping I feel better soon.

Just hoping noone else succumbs (3 DC 12yo and their schools are rife!!)

Cerialkiller · 18/12/2024 18:11

Fuck, this thread just appeared like it was thought manifesting into words. Yes. All four of us have been sniffy on and off for a few weeks. Yesterday both DH and I started to feel worse. Achy, tired, sore throats. DH, like an idiot went to his Christmas lunch, barely ate anything then left early to come home and more or less collapse into bed. He's up there now literally groaning in pain hurting everywhere.

Theres still time for him to get better though so I live in hope. Just glad it's different from his long COVID symptoms and might be the flu instead which is a weird thing to hope.

WinterCrow · 18/12/2024 18:13

I've been ill for days. I'm immune-suppressed so have had all known jabs this year, and I've been testing for covid and it's negative. Can barely swallow tablets.

Haven't eaten for over two days.

DP's really fucked me off today as well. It's nice to have MN on days like this.

WhenDoISleep · 18/12/2024 18:26

Yes, I felt a little off yesterday as the day went on and then woke up this morning feeling worse, with the added delight of being very dizzy when getting out of bed and had to sit on the edge for a good few minutes to feel right again. I'm really hoping that it is just a standard cold and that I will be over the worst by the beginning of next week.

Typically we have a lovely Christmas outing and dinner booked for Friday, so I'm going to load up on all the medicine I can and power through as this is the one thing that my youngest has actually asked to do this Christmas and next year he will probably be in the midst of full on teen angst and not want to do anything.

GiddyRobin · 18/12/2024 18:41

Yep. I've been off work and in bed all day. Sore throat, sore stomach, blocked nose. This is following a weekend of vomiting out of the blue. We're off to DH's home village in Norway in a few days and I am hoping to fuck it clears by then.

There's so much left to do! And DH will absolutely sort it, but there's stuff I'd wanted like a goodbye for the season with my sister (we do it every year, we wouldn't see each other anyway as we do our own Christmas thing), visit my brother and his partner, go shopping for last minute treats we can't find in Norway where live when there. Plus when we get there, we immediately decorate the house and go out to get a tree.

Just URGH. Chugging lemsip by the gallon. I commiserate with you all.

OH and to make matters worse, I snapped at my amazing, wonderful DH for cleaning my bookshelves and moving a few bits around in the library. He did nothing wrong and it's fine, but we never argue so I feel like a Grade A cunt. He didn't even snap back, just apologised and made me a cup of tea. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø
