What's your current work gripe?

Come on, let's get these work frustrations off our chests!

Here's mine...

One of my colleagues is incredibly lazy, he completes work in the fastest time possible, but has zero attention to detail so the person who picks it up ends up spending more time correcting it than he did creating it.

He also never takes any accountability for his faults and is always looking to blame something/someone else, whether a computer failure, a technical glitch, not getting clear instructions.... argh! Not only that, he's constantly complaining about his work and personal life and is just a drain.

He keeps saying he wants a higher paid role. I wish he'd hurry up and find one.

I sympathise with you regarding lazy colleague. My gripe: senior manager won't authorise something (can't say as outing) that is a reasonable request. No policy or process, rhyme or reason to justify their decision. Pure jobsworth behaviour but I am seriously re assessing my above and beyond commitment to this employer, (extra hours unpaid and workload ++). Asshole. Asshole. Asshole
Thank you and as you were

Not enough staff, too many patients. Not enough money for bank staff… staff get burnt out and run down, staff off sick… not enough staff. And so it goes on…

Marshtit · 16/12/2024 19:57

toxic,
favouritism
management make bad decisions

twinkletoesimnot · 16/12/2024 19:58

Another SEN child joining my class with significant needs..... head wasn't honest about degree of needs.
No extra help and I'm barely coping with more than 50% SEN in a mixed age class.
I cried at work today.

TheChosenTwo · 16/12/2024 19:59

At the moment it’s that everyone seems to be putting URGENT in the subject line of their emails as if shouting at me to get their request for whatever they want done first.
Then when I look into what they want doing I realise it’s not that urgent at all.
Not enough staff so we are being told to prioritise. Everyone wants everything signing off before they log off for Christmas and there is just too much to be done in the hours. I’ve made my peace with the fact that some things just won’t be done.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/12/2024 19:59

No-one informed us that Father Christmas (scouse, real beard though) would be causing chaos visiting the classes today.

Trying to keep a lid on the excitement and behaviour of the kids in an effort to get through the last week in one piece so it would really have helped to know it was on the cards!

Absolutely this. If I see one more red exclamation mark on a very definitely not urgent email I will 100% kick off.

MissPobjoysPonies · 16/12/2024 20:02

Waiting for a response from our useless head of HR.

Ive been waiting since MAY, I’ve chased on multiple occasions but they just don’t bother with even a holding email.

Being head of HR I have no one to escalate to apart from the Board directors. So 2nd Jan I shall be doing just that!

How does he get away with it ?

Sunhatweather · 16/12/2024 20:03

When there is one bad manager in the otherwise lovely charity organisation, and unfortunately she’s very senior.
All the other managers are so empowering and considerate, yet she’s the type who does her best (and fails) to try and highlight how people aren’t doing their job….she equates being shrill and bossy with being a manager. It’s so much more than that.
I’d like to complain, but she’s likely to be an interviewer if I apply for a promotion. Grrr.

bluebalou · 16/12/2024 20:05

Having to raise stuff via team coach who thinks she fucking precious and starts waving her arms around at me , so wanted to punch her in the face again today ! She like mrs bouquet on steroids with a voice to match ...

Sinkintotheswamp · 16/12/2024 20:06

Shit data. Quantity over quality.
Muggins here is sick of tidying up other people's mess.

Same company by any chance 😂 my job is exactly that and it's a shit show every day

CyanPeer · 16/12/2024 20:11

Terrible induction, no strategic direction (so no way to prioritise), too many stakeholders, everything's a priority, too much work, not enough people.

Shall I go on?

leia24 · 16/12/2024 20:13

Misogynistic sneaky environment where the culture is sweep it under the carpet and pretend senior management don't know about it

Scottishskifun · 16/12/2024 20:16

When work colleagues are going off on holidays and rather then either complete their workload in advance or hand it over to another team member they simply send it in an email to the group and say can someone pick this up the deadline is Christmas eve...... Christmas period is my busiest time at work and had 3 colleagues do this exact thing!

Microgal · 16/12/2024 20:16

People who come to a meeting and literally know nothing!! And respond to all questions with… “ I’m not sure I’ll have to come back to you on that one!” IT’S YOUR JOB TO KNOW!!!FFS! Stop wasting my time!

Lovelynames123 · 16/12/2024 20:28

Having to repeat myself about the most basic of things, so in the end I snap about something like sugar sachets, and then having to explain to supposedly experienced staff that's it's not specifically about the sugar...whilst they seem to think they're doing me a favour coming to work and doing the bare minimum. I'm overdue a break and can't wait for Christmas closedown 😫

coxesorangepippin · 16/12/2024 20:41

Boss avoids in person interactions

It's absolutely ridiculous and NOT conducive to an effective team

PurpleChrayn · 16/12/2024 20:41

I edit non-native academic English for a living, and I get the fucking RAGE when people write "for X times" instead of just "X times", as in "We mixed the solution for five times".

ARGH. Where did they learn that?

NeedToKnow101 · 16/12/2024 21:04

A colleague in my office is constantly does a really pleghmy sniff. He's annoying in so many ways but this is the pinnacle.

WinterMorn · 16/12/2024 21:11

The refusal of managers to tackle performance issues on a 1-1 basis, instead making everything into a 'team learning' event.

dancingcrabbs · 16/12/2024 21:18

Mine are people that don’t talk to each other

a boss that is ‘SO BUSY’ but can’t bear to hand anything over so will always be SO BUSY so yawn.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/12/2024 21:18

There's an HLTA at work who seems blithely wifully unaware of the Healthy Schools programme we're part of - constantly giving the (well, her favoured) children squash, biscuits, crisps and lollies. It really pisses me off. There, I've said it!

Sixpence39 · 16/12/2024 21:22

The fact that I have to work - fullstop 😂
