It was never like phwoarrr obvious, but looking back she definitely had a thing for Daley Thompson and Paul Nicholas (Just Good Friends).
Good taste Mum!

I think my mum was very disappointed when George Michael came out!

growinguptobreakingdown · 13/12/2024 22:27

Paul Young, David Essex and the bloke off the coffee advert-Gareth Hunt? She followed him around a celebrity golf match flirting outrageously with me tagging along!

Neves7 · 13/12/2024 22:27

Willie Nelson - she has somewhat questionable taste in men 😂

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 13/12/2024 22:27

Oh my god you've made me feel very very old.

Chesney hawkes
Rick Astlley
Craig from bross
Mark Owen
Jason Donovan

Then my music taste changed

Kurt
Nuno Bettencort
Bililie Jo Armstrong

FuckItItsFine · 13/12/2024 22:27

So many of my mum’s faves are listed here 😂

I have to add Colin Firth as Mr Darcy and Robert Carlyle as Hamish McBeth.

WorriedMillie · 13/12/2024 22:28

Paul Nicholas!! And yes, she used to say “dishy” too 🤣

I saw a pic of him recently, thought “he looks old” then realised he’s 80!!!

UndeniablyGenX · 13/12/2024 22:28

What a thread to make you feel old, if you were having your own crushes by then and your mum was long past that sort of thing. 😄

Rut ger Hower (sp)

mamaduckbone · 13/12/2024 22:31

Richard Gere in An Officer and a Gentleman and Richard Chamberlain, who I think played a priest in something which I'm now going to have to go and look up.

FuckItItsFine · 13/12/2024 22:32

Oh and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, too.

Verydemure · 13/12/2024 22:32

Neil Pearson in Drop the Dead Donkey.
Al Pacino

I think she'd still say the same.

Neil Pearson was a favourite of my mum too!

Echobelly · 13/12/2024 22:32

My mum fancied Daley Thompson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In the 90s she was local mayor and got to meet lots of the Gladiators doing charity stuff - she said Saracen was one of the most handsome men she had ever seen and she very much enjoyed spending an afternoon with him!

WellIthinkyouareallIdiots · 13/12/2024 22:33

Put it this way, I had to watch Labyrinth far too often and it was always my mums suggestion 😂😂😂

mamaduckbone · 13/12/2024 22:34

The Thorn Birds! I remember watching it with her.

Ceebeegee · 13/12/2024 22:34

Nick Berry from Heartbeat

Tony Curtis, Elvis, Paul Nicholas, Daley Thompson, Lewis Collins. She was actually at a thing with Lewis Collins and she said he acted like a petulant child all night, so I think she went off him.
She's in her 80's now and watches Blue Bloods all the time to see Tom Sellack.

ClarityClankrantt · 13/12/2024 22:35

Karl Howman from Brush Strokes
Mel Gibson
Shaking Stevens
PC Tony Stamp from The Bill
Robson Green
Freddie Mercury

I'm sure there is more. In recent years I'm sure she's fancied Louis Walsh but she's not admitting to that one at present.

Catsmere · 13/12/2024 22:36

To the best of my knowledge, nobody.

She did like Rodger Federer when he was playing in the 2000s.

TheLemonFatball · 13/12/2024 22:36

David Essex and David Cassidy

Yes my mum too. Was it Children of the Thorns or something like that?
