Just used my debit card to buy a 30 pounds gift for my d d online

Clicked Apple Pay and it ended up costing 150

120 pounds for delivery to the uk
They are based in UK

Emailed back right away to say please cancel

I have no chance do I?

They seem to be a legit company UK based

My god what a fool I am

Postage wasn't mentioned anywhere

It said final balance and then as I clicked pay it came up at 150 !!!!

Lesson learnt 👎👎🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😔

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:06

Distance selling rules, you have 14 days ffrom purchase to change your mind for any reason

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:06

So it could be ok to cancel straight after the money has been taken out?

OP posts:
DemonicCaveMaggot · 09/12/2024 18:07

What is the cancellation policy on their website?

It may be covered by the UK 14 day cooling off period for on line purchases which is also worth checking.

It is still worth phoning them to cancel. They may prefer to have a potential customer viewing them positively than an angry customer leaving them poor reviews all over the place for their hidden shipping costs.

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:08

Ah good point

Yes thank you

There is email and phone numbers

The line closes at 4pm

OP posts:
DemonicCaveMaggot · 09/12/2024 18:08

If the 14 day cooling off period applies you can still cancel. You may have to wait a few business days to see the money back in your account.

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:08

But they may not allow that?

OP posts:
MuggleMe · 09/12/2024 18:09

Not sure the cooling off period includes postage...

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:10

Thank you all

I don't even have the money what I am I playing at

Saw an add on insta

So googled the type of gymnastics apparatus and then this was the cheapest

Had good reviews etc

My god I throught they gave me the final amount so I clicked on Apple Pay

OP posts:
DemonicCaveMaggot · 09/12/2024 18:10

I don't know either MuggleMe but if the OP cancels the order, they won't have to incur shipping costs so they shouldn't bill the OP for them.

ThianWinter · 09/12/2024 18:13

£120 postage is ridiculous. They might say they are based in the UK, but they must be overseas.

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:15

UK based on all the info online

But yes how ridiculous

They have a cooling off period just checked online

Phone your bank and tell them it's an unauthorised amount. You only authorised £0.00

hellohellooo · 09/12/2024 18:17

Money has been taken

Postage often is not refunded!
You need to go through the bank to report it.

It was on my direct debit card

Bank can do nothing

Phone your bank and dispute the payment.

Advise the delivery charge wasn't made clear and that you are seeking cancellation with the company.

They may be able to put a hold on the payment.

Don't just decide for the bank, as them.

FloppyPencil · 09/12/2024 18:49

What was the item? They say free next day delivery over £99, so it seems very strange/unlikely that the £120 delivery is correct. Is it a huge item? They’d never sell any (except by accident!) if it was £120 delivery for a £30 item, surely!

Yes, this. They might be able to do something.
