Just that really?
Hopefully one that's cheaper than the £4.50 for 500g that Cadburys one costs!

What?? I bought some last week 😱 Why are they doing a recall? Mislabelled then I'm drinking it, metal bits then I'm not.

Explanation here :-
"We have identified a food quality issue in Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products meaning in some instances the texture and colour of the product may not look as expected. As a result, we have swiftly withdrawn affected products from retailers, to make specific improvements to future production"

M&S is pretty good- I'd say better than Cadburys

Are we talking regular or instant? If it’s regular, made with hot milk, then it’s simply a mix of cocoa powder and sugar.

LOpportunityCestFuckingEnorme · 08/12/2024 16:17

Twinings, I think.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're buggering about with the recipe, like they seem to do with everything else.

I like galaxy hot chocolate. I only like cadburys if I've grayed and melted the chocolate in hot milk myself 😁

Frankiedear · 08/12/2024 16:19

I bought twinnings last week as couldn't get my usual Cadburys and quite pleased with it.

FuckItItsFine · 08/12/2024 16:45

Twinings

My children will only drink Twinings hot chocolate too. It is expensive though.

The OG cocoa powder and sugar!

Bathroombedroomlounge · 08/12/2024 16:53

I bought galaxy the other week because we couldn't get usual Cadbury. It was on offer in Tesco. Dc1 has decided he prefers it to Cadbury.

I’ve been on threads on here and other places trying to tell people that Cadburys drinking chocolate is literally just cocoa powder and sugar but no one listens.

That's hilarious! Are people disbelieving?

FuckItItsFine · 08/12/2024 17:04

What’s the “flavouring”, though?

It can’t be anything serious as it’s not properly listen. A touch of vanilla I guess.

No. They just don’t acknowledge it and carry on about different brands.

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 08/12/2024 17:25

Galaxy is lush

helpmyback · 08/12/2024 17:37

Not read the full thread but I bought Starbucks from Morrisons it's a bit nicer and cheaper (you make it with milk still)

MounjaroUser · 08/12/2024 17:37

Green & Blacks is the nicest one. It's not too sweet. It's expensive, though - around £6.50. At one point every time I bought it they were putting it up by 50p.

CrazyAndSagittarius · 08/12/2024 17:48

I just use cacao and condensed milk. It's really good and chocolatey and easy.

Couple of tablespoons of cacao (or cocoa) in a cup.

Little bit of milk.

2 tbsps of condensed milk

Mix it all together until you get a paste.

Full cup up with milk and stir again.

Microwave for 1 min, stir, microwave for 30 secs.

I sometimes top with a bit of cream for extra creaminess.. Add whatever other accoutrements you fancy.

Condensed milk is very sweet so you don't need any more sugar.

LittleGreenDragons · 08/12/2024 22:22

Thanks, I had a quick google after reading this thread and it's my understanding it's the normal one that you make with milk thats been recalled rather than the Instants made with boiling water. Sorry, can't help with an alternative.

I have actually tried mixing cocoa powder in with the Cadburys drinking chocolate to make it go further but the cocoa powder doesn't dissolve very well in the hot milk.
