Saw evidence of drug taking

I've name changed for this, but I'm a regular poster and have been on here for years.

Last night at a Christmas do I saw evidence of drug taking, or rather supply by one person to a couple of people who each then promptly went to the loo. I'm not naive about the reach of drugs in society, but I was shocked to see this in this setting with these people. These are people with young families who I've known for a few years. I'm now wondering what the hell to do. One of those involved is probably a dealer who ostensibly has a professional job.

It impacts the whole world. Drug use is the driving force behind drug dealers, county lines, human trafficking, modern slavery, cuckooing, organised crime groups, money laundering and all the associated violence, rape, sexual assaults, murders interlinked with these OCGs.

If you want less migration, not taking drugs is one action you can take.

I'm an HR Director and this is the reason I don't go to work events unless I have to. I'd rather not be in the situation of not being able to 'unsee' or 'unknow'.

If I wasn't in HR or a position of accountability I would do the same as if I saw this on a social night out with friends - nothing.

That is literally possession with intent to supply. A criminal offence. The idiot who bought it to supply to others is dicing with serious consequences.

No the point was, the person had maybe just used it and passed over to the other two to go do their lines. They maybe all pitched in. She doesn't know who actually bought it or who "supplied it".

What a silly thing to say. People don’t tend to widely advertise that they do this.

OP
I would lose all respect for people who do this. Stupid twats

RubicsPuzzle · 08/12/2024 09:43

You have no proof they took drugs. You may suspect they did and you may well be right but I can’t see how anything can “be done” with the information you have.

@ChaosHol1 I think you are the naive one tbh.

@RubicsPuzzle for you and some of the other posters, I am wondering what I do in terms of my contact with the people involved not just whether I should report what I saw. I did wonder if what I had seen was not as it appeared but there's no other plausible explanation.

Every single item in your list is due to drugs being illegal. If they were legally available from the pharmacy, then none of those problems would exist.

TequilaNights · 08/12/2024 09:48

This happened at my Christmas do, I think 80% were on it, I was offered it by 3 or 4 people.

I lost heaps of respect for people, and decided to leave and pursue a career elsewhere.

To top it off, when I got annoyed at one of them for offering it to me (I was shocked he was on it, really nice family guy, I was so naive when I was young) we ended up talking, outside with lots of others present. Then a rumour started that we were all over each other.. I now no longer attend Christmas do's. Not worth the hassle.

Edited

Aye cause you know my experiences around drug use and people who take it 😂

leia24 · 08/12/2024 09:49

Just don't go out with them again if you don't want to.

3luckystars · 08/12/2024 09:49

Loads of people take drugs. Just don’t have anything to do with them if that’s your choice but you don’t actually need to ‘do’ anything now.

I don’t judge anyone taking drugs.

3luckystars · 08/12/2024 09:51

‘Report it’ to who?

AllYearsAround · 08/12/2024 09:51

Oh the drama.
Don't involve yourself.

I don't want to involve myself. I cannot unsee what I saw. It's a moral dilemma whether I carry on with the thing which has brought me into contact with these people.
