Itโ€™s worth watching for entertainment, pure batshittery!

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/01/2025 08:56

I also couldn't bear to watch. There is another thread at the moment talking about Elon Musks salute...

Igotjelly · 21/01/2025 09:10

So Trump is going to call Putin and tell him to end the war or he will โ€œunleash the power of American energyโ€, transferring US energy to Europe in a bid to bankrupt Russia.

MagicFox · 21/01/2025 10:05

I'm limiting access too but have seen clips of Musk's salute - has this been taken out of context in anyway? I'm so shocked if that's what he intended - I honestly am just speechless.

I've had to have some surgery and am in recovery so popping on and off when I can but certainly monitoring from an admin perspective so I'm poised!

Iโ€™ve seen the full speech from Musk and wouldnโ€™t say it was taken out of context at all.

@Igotjelly wtf?! I have no words

OP posts:
Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/01/2025 10:42

I've watched it. I think defensive hope plays a big role in its interpretation. But this is the slippery slope...whether intended as a facist salute or not, it was a global platform at the inauguration of the world's most powerful man. Not ok.

Musk is out of line. Whether he intended to emulate Hitler or not, he apparently deleted the salute from the Twitter recording.

Focus on Security and Investment Opportunities: Ukraine House in Davos Opens Today
This platform aims to foster discussions on critical topics such as heroism, security, defense, energy, rare earth minerals, military risk insurance, unblocking frozen assets, economic sustainability, and investment opportunities. A key focus will be Ukraineโ€™s reconstruction, projected to require $1 trillion, and the broader potential for economic development.
The Ukraine House is designed to be a hub for establishing international partnerships, offering expert insights into Ukraineโ€™s current events and future prospects. Organizers emphasize that achieving a stable and just peace in Ukraineโ€”while preserving its sovereignty and aligning closely with the Westโ€”is essential for global security and prosperity.
Yaroslava Johnson, President of the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund and a member of the organizing committee, highlighted Ukraine's immense investment potential. Despite the ongoing war, the country boasts natural resources valued at $26 trillion. These include significant uranium reserves, Europeโ€™s second-largest natural gas reserves, and approximately 20,000 other mineral deposits, making Ukraine a compelling destination for investors worldwide.

Caroline Leavitt, the press secretary for US President Donald Trump, announced that the United States will withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.

President Trump Suspends U.S. Foreign Aid Programs for 90-Day Review
Aid to major recipients such as Israel ($3.3 billion annually), Egypt ($1.5 billion), and Jordan ($1.7 billion) is unlikely to be significantly reduced due to long-term agreements and contractual obligations. Conversely, funding for United Nations agencies, including peacekeeping and human rights programs, may be targeted, as Republican administrations have historically sought to cut such contributions.
The U.S. has already withdrawn from the UN Human Rights Council, and legislation prohibits funding the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) starting in March 2024, according to the report.

North Korean soldiers executed Ukrainian soldiers who attempted to surrender in the Kursk region, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The report references a document allegedly found on a North Korean officer. The document reportedly details that, after suffering losses within their own ranks, North Korean forces decided to execute the surrendering Ukrainian soldiers.
Further details about the document and the circumstances remain unclear.

A North Korean soldier captured by Ukraine's Special Operations Forces in the Kursk region revealed that he served in a reconnaissance battalion and was unaware of who he would be fighting against.
He stated that he, along with about a hundred other compatriots, was transported to Russia by ship and later by train.
When asked about his family, he said his mother does not know where he is now. Regarding his knowledge of the outside world, the soldier admitted, "Not much."

Donald Trump outlined his key priorities in his inaugural address as the 47th President of the United States:
โ€ข Ending wars: Trump vowed to stop โ€œall warsโ€ but did not directly mention Ukraine.
โ€ข Immigration crackdown: A โ€œnational emergencyโ€ will be declared at the US-Mexico border to curb illegal immigration and deport millions of โ€œcriminals.โ€
โ€ข Cartels targeted: Drug cartels will be classified as foreign terrorist organizations.
โ€ข Energy independence: A state of emergency will be declared in the energy sector to boost oil and gas production, lower global prices, and ensure energy security.
โ€ข Military strength: Trump pledged to build the strongest military in history.
โ€ข Paris Agreement withdrawal: The US will exit the Paris Climate Agreement, focusing on domestic energy policies.
โ€ข Renaming landmarks: Trump announced plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the โ€œGulf of the Americasโ€ and Mount Denali to McKinley.
โ€ข Panama Canal: He promised to regain control of the Panama Canal, claiming it would not go to โ€œChina.โ€
โ€ข Quotas and gender: Trump intends to abolish quotas for racial and gender inclusion, asserting, โ€œThere are only two genders: male and female.โ€
โ€ข Mars mission: Trump aims to send American astronauts to Mars and plant the US flag there.

Energy independence: A state of emergency will be declared in the energy sector to boost oil and gas production, lower global prices, and ensure energy security.

Itโ€™s almost as if he doesnโ€™t understand that oil and gas conglomerates sell on a global open market. If he tried to enact laws to restrict exports that wonโ€™t support his apparent plan to stop the Ukraine war. God. Weโ€™re all doomed.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/01/2025 19:43

A seriously stupid man with ruthless (and also stupid) minders/enablers has become president of the United States, and after his term of office life on earth is likely to be just a bit (or just a lot) nastier for every one of the global population, even the obscenely rich ones who are using him. We may not all be doomed full stop, but we are all doomed to suffer for his stupidity.
