I think she looks great but the whole ‘debutante’ thing is antiquated and in poor taste. Just have a party for goodness sake.

CombatLingerie · 02/12/2024 13:29

I think Chris should have had a shave and Apple needs a different hairdresser.

Rowen32 · 02/12/2024 13:29

The video of her pushing the girl out of the way is shocking, I watched it a few times and there's no way it was anything other than mean. Can't believe she acts like that with cameras on. Chris is a good human, its so odd to see him at something like that

Having been educated by Titanic and Gilmore Girls, I can't see high society looking particularly kindly on the daughter of an actress and a pop star?

New money etc...

😁😆

I wonder if Gwyneth would be the exception being a list and having a pretty patrician persona. Once you reach a certain level of wealth the royals are okay with you, eg Richard Branson.

Kind of imagining Gwyneth wanting her daughter to marry royalty. 👸

TinyGingerCat · 02/12/2024 13:30

I honestly thought this thread was going to be about a new Apple product called the "Martin" 🤣

Jostuki · 02/12/2024 13:31

The ball organisers Cherry pick young women from around the world to participate in the ball. It's basically to get their rich parents to donate to charities. Charities which have very highly paid directors.

This ball is all about greasing each others palms. Absolutely revolting.

allthatfalafel · 02/12/2024 13:34

Imagine being that rich and beautiful and wearing a dress like that. It looks like 1980s lampshades got sewn together by Shein.

3peassuit · 02/12/2024 13:36

It looks dated and not much fun but if it raises money for good causes, great.

She's the image of her mother

Funny how different people see different things. Her mother has very distinctive features and I don't see them in Apple at all. To me she looks more like a female Chris Martin.

MillyVannily · 02/12/2024 13:39

Ya, this is totally cringe and very show off-y.

Blinkingbonkers · 02/12/2024 13:39

It’s a bit grim & very cringey! Can’t believe they still bother with this crap - I had friends who were debs in the 90s (titled parents) and they were sooo embarrassed about it. These days it’s just about showing off how much cash your parents have - which is crass & tasteless, certainly doesn’t display any class!

Wishimaywishimight · 02/12/2024 13:41

Anyone else think this thread was announcing the arrival of 'apple martini's'??

I was thinking "nah, they've been on cocktails for years now" 😆

SouthernComfortable · 02/12/2024 13:42

Relax guys, it's not real. - It's in Paris France!
There hasn't been a real French Queen to be presented to for 250 years.
It don't count.
I second the lampshade remark from above.

FatCatSkinnyRat · 02/12/2024 13:43

I read yesterday that Apple Martin was expelled from school for bullying. Obviously I do not know if this is true but the school was mentioned. I'd be keeping a low profile if that was me.

Daschund · 02/12/2024 13:07

Reminds me of a certain hypocritical Royal when it suits duo...Do as I say, not...

To be fair, that whole family is a bunch of hypocrites.

MisoMouse · 02/12/2024 13:46

Ce n'est pas ma tasse de thé

FinnJuhl · 02/12/2024 13:49

That photo of Blythe Danner wearing an actual beret in actual Paris just adds to the massive cringe factor. The whole thing is like that Paris episode of Sex and the City, which poked fun (I hope?) at the fairytale vs real life delusion.

x2boys · 02/12/2024 13:49

I thought Debutante Balls were supposed to be for aristocracy etc would she fit the criteria?

Was just going to say this. It was awful. I would be so ashamed if my daughter behaved like that.

Realdeal1 · 02/12/2024 13:51

I thought this was all rather silly too - she's so rich yet they launch her into society as a debutante. Reminds me a bit of a posh version of the Beckhams.

I also think it's not all Gwynnie - CM is a bit of a social climber too and likes the links with Hollywood royalty. Same as Chris Pratt and Mark Ronson.

Stretchedresources · 02/12/2024 13:53

It's really fucking weird. I thought Chris Martin was a nice, slightly quirky pop star. This makes him look like a knob.

PotOfViolas · 02/12/2024 13:53

I think it's just a bit of fun and won't affect her dating life or career. Other than to give her publicity.

But but but Gwyneth says...

'My children are similar in the ways that they're both incredibly sensitive and empathetic. They really can feel people's stuff very permeable in that way,'

What a load of old guff.

Yes it was Harvard West Lake. I read that Apple's bullying was so relentless the girl was on the brink of suicide. It was all hushed up by the school. Can you imagine how bad it must have been for them to kick out someone whose parents are so rich and famous.
