Please find me a hobby that is easy

The only hobby I have is reading. I'd love to be creative, but I'm not at all artistic and have no imagination!

I'm looking for something that isn't too expensive, that I can do at home, fairly easy and will give me a sense of achievement!

I can knit and crochet a bit, but don't enjoy it, possibly due to it causing pain in my hands (fibromyalgia and arthritis).

Definitely not sport, fibromyalgia means I've little energy most of the time and my joints and feet ache.

I'm in my late fifties. I've no interest in video games.

Sorry to be so picky, it's just I've tried many things, but didn't get on with them ... diamond painting was so boring and fiddly for example!

A history based hobby? For example I devoured Dorothy Dunnet’s books and frequently found myself going off into side roads to explore the history behind some of her scenarios - I know a lot more about 15th century Timbuktu salt trading and status as a centre of learning, or the Kings of Cyprus, or Mary Queen of Scots than I once did!

Film studies. You can buy some books on the history of film and work your way through the movies or pick a particular director or explore a genre. Maybe do an online film course.

History. Choose a period of history you find interesting and work your way through some documentaries and books. Join a local society and do some research.

Activism. Join a group on something you're passionate about and help with online campaigning or blogging.

Design. Do some YouTube tutorials on web design and volunteer to help a community group with their website and literature.

Scriptwriting. Write a play and see if your local am dram society would be interested in putting it on.

Genealogy. Research your family tree or pick a grave in your local cemetery and research that.

How about researching your family tree.

Making things such as soap, skin creams and candles?
Aromatherapy?
Digital art (if you can manage an initial outlay for a suitable tablet/laptop)
Sourdough baking?
Painting and drawing?

I don't like historic novels or history really.

I've made soap and candles, just got boring after a while. I don't have a laptop and can't afford one, but wouldn't be interested in digital art, I'm not at all artistic. I can make bread and have grown sourdough before, but it's just me and I end up eating it all! 😂

I can't paint or draw.

I have my family tree, my dad did it a few years ago.

I can't write stuff .. lack of imagination again!

Book clubs just intimidate me, I read a lot, but can't remember enough about the books to discuss them, possibly due to fibro brain fog!

Don't write off video games. There are so many genres out there you might find one you love.

I read this comment too late, but I still recommend genealogy.
Maybe there are more things you can research about your family tree?
Or go further back than your father did.

I've no room for any more house plants, I've been growing and propagating them for five years now.

This is a great one.

I learn Spanish on a daily basis via my library membership - Transparent Languages programme.

Creative sewing on a machine. It’s lovely to turn fabric scraps into pictures. Pinterest has lots of ideas.

SkaneTos · 01/12/2024 22:27

Research some topic of your interest, and write about it?
You don't need any imagination for that, just something that interests you.

Rainbow321 · 01/12/2024 22:30

You say you can't paint ? How about adult painting by numbers ?
Or maybe card making .
