What to do in the evenings

Mylifeisamesssuchamess · 30/11/2024 17:05

I'm so bored with life. I'm looking for ideas for things to do in the evening. I live alone.

I mainly watch TV, I read a little, do a little bit of sewing, I've tried paint by numbers. I'm dieting so nothing food related please.

Any suggestions welcome.

Join CompersNews and enter some competitions and chat about them. the magazine one month featured someone who'd made a point of entering to be the best dressed lady at the various race days and she'd won lots of prizes that way.
Or learn to knit? I just about learnt to cast on via YouTube in lockdown but only ever managed to knit a string dishcloth!

OttersAreMySpiritAnimal · 30/11/2024 17:16

Jigsaws and a games console. Or go out, to the movies, the pub, the gym.

tinofbeans · 30/11/2024 17:20

Try pickleball!

Mylifeisamesssuchamess · 30/11/2024 17:34

Thanks all. I should have said I have time for exercise in the day time so it's more non exercise stuff I'm thinking of.

Maybe it’s sad but I love cooking (batch cook for the freezer), then properly clean the kitchen then have a nice hot shower 😅

Also:
Crochet
musical instrument
watercolours
go out?? Pub, club (hobby not nightclub, but maybe nightclub if you like!! Not for me!)
Become a movie connoisseur
out for dinner with friends
Out to cinema
exercise
sleep

When I first separated from my H I started going to a board games night once a week when he had the kids.
Now I work a second job and can't go.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 30/11/2024 17:38

Would you get a pet?

I'm actually jealous of OP living alone!

KnickerlessParsons · 30/11/2024 17:38

Learn to knit.

weatherisjustmist · 30/11/2024 17:40

Are you looking for things just to do at home or would you be open to the idea of getting out more?

I go to gym classes in the evenings sometimes, and also have a friend who I walk with (we stick to main roads/town walks after dark but it's nice to catch up and we stop for a drink on the way home).

If you'd like to get out maybe join meet up and see what's on in your area.

Noseybookworm · 30/11/2024 17:40

Invite a friend over, open a bottle of wine and have a good catch up/gossip? Or have a nice long soak in the bath, face scrub and mask and fancy conditioning treatment on your hair? Find a new author and start reading a series of books (Elly Griffiths and Michael Connelly are both fab) take up knitting/crochet and start making homemade gifts for Christmas?

ThePoshUns · 30/11/2024 17:40

There's no meet ups around here. Open to getting out a bit more but the reality is that there's not much to do here so need things for the house too

-In the summer when its still light, I water the garden and potter. I enjoy growing veg.
-I buy yarn/wool from charity shops and crochet when watching TV. I donate the rugs back to the charity shop or local hospice
-Online I'm a spotter on mammal web. Pics and videos are posted and I classify what the animal/bird is. You can choose to review all, or just specific projects like the Scottish wild cat, hedgehogs etc. They have tutorials to help you know what you are looking at too. Home
-I have a night vision camera I set up in the garden and feed the hedgehogs
