I feel worse and worse as the day goes on

I got really drunk last night at the work Xmas party. I ended up going home with a member of senior leadership (would say I see them as a friend but this is the first time we’ve ever been out) we got in the taxi and I was fine up till that point. I was bladdered. I had to stop the taxi. Was sick out the taxi. Then again had to stop and do the same. Stumbled into my house. I am SO embarrassed that I behaved like that. They said it’s okay and texted me today and after I apologised telling me it was really no big deal.

im so embarrassed .

Style it out.
A member of senior management team got paralytic one year at our Xmas doo and jumped into my car - DH picked me up-, sat on my knee and refused to move until she was physically pulled away. The following monday she walked into the office, pulled my chair back & sat on my lap. Went from embarrassment to legend .
Plus she brought me flowers. ( her first night out since Mat leave and she had hit the prosecco, hard)

Everyone has done it once. Or twice.
Don't panic. Watch some tv, Friends, eat some food, rest your brain.

Don't do it again!

Should I be really embarrassed.

I mean I would absolutely be embarrassed but I’d just try to forget about it, there’s nothing you can do about it now so just try and forget about it

Nothatgingerpirate · 30/11/2024 16:46

No point of being embarrassed, it just gonna make you feel worse.
Look, I binge drank and made a fool of myself more than couple of times.
When I hit 40, I started vomiting and passing out.
Since then, for six years and going, I have been alcohol free - purely out of fear (and the anxiety and loss of control).
It really is better. Life is raw, but worth it.

FamilyPhoto · 30/11/2024 16:48

No, don't be embarrassed.

Zone2NorthLondon · 30/11/2024 16:50

It’s no biggie. You acknowledge it. You move on
is it embarrassing, yes. Does it define you,no

baddayformeredith · 30/11/2024 16:52

Could have been worse. I have done much worse. At least you have spoken to the colleague today and apologised and they were fine.
Go and see them first thing on Monday with some biscuits and apologise again and laugh it off. Facing it head on is the best thing to get over it. It will be fine.

GoodVibesHere · 30/11/2024 16:54

OK it will feel embarassing but life moves on. In the grand scheme of things it's all ok. You didn't do anything awful.

Zone2NorthLondon · 30/11/2024 16:57

went to uni with girl who used to get munted, and then strip naked and run around every course party. It literally became her signature behaviour

Jostuki · 30/11/2024 17:02

Did you actually drink to excess or do you think your drinks may have been sabotaged with extra alcohol or even spiked?

BeMintBee · 30/11/2024 17:03

I remember going to an end of year party at a head teachers house and a member of support staff got really drunk, fell over doing a PlayStation dance mat challenge, broke her arm and puked in the garage. If she can come back from that you can come back from this. In my own drunk state I told the head that maybe next time there should be more food then people might hold their drink better!

Letmegohome · 30/11/2024 17:04

Why jump to that conclusion? OP said she got drunk

I bet she got invited to a lot of parties!!

Jostuki · 30/11/2024 17:06

@Unskilledwork - 'got in the taxi and I was fine up till that point.'

I read it that she was ok but then suddenly became stricken.

ShootyBumPain · 30/11/2024 17:07

@Letmegohome Did you actually just google if something was offensive so you could have something to be offended about?! 🤦🏼‍♀️

SnoopySantaPaws · 30/11/2024 17:07

Letmegohome · 30/11/2024 17:04

@Zone2NorthLondon nice

Except she didn't say she was a munter.

she said she was munted. Common word for extremely drunk.

EmotionalSupportBiscuit · 30/11/2024 17:08

Can’t be that embarrassed if you’ve started TWO threads about it 🤔

Letmegohome · 30/11/2024 17:08

@ShootyBumPain no I was aware already .... Put in to Google for a simple explanation

Unskilledwork · 30/11/2024 17:09

Or she's doubly embarrassed!

Yeah, I wondered about maybe being spiked, but also it's common to 'feel ok' before you stand up & get out into the fresh air. Tequila is really bad for that!!

Letmegohome · 30/11/2024 17:10

Both words have the same origin and yes it's offensive
