Is a WaterPik worth it?

I currently have £89 worth of Boots points and the WaterPik I’m looking at is only £30. Are they good?

I would say not worth it.

GivingOhio · 25/11/2024 19:29

Yes, they are fabulous! My dentist rates them

simonthedog · 25/11/2024 19:31

No, tepe brushes are much better.

I hated mine - I was completely incapable of using it without spraying water all over myself! Plus the cold water hurt my teeth.

I use interdental brushes now and they are so much better!

You can use warm water in them.

I have one and love it because I can’t get on with tepee brushes in all of my teeth. Mine is this one though, I don’t know if a £30 is any good

My dentist is for either tepee brushes or water flossers.

GermanBite · 25/11/2024 19:45

I liked mine but still ended up with gum disease. Interdental brushes are much more effective.

Carpetburn · 25/11/2024 19:48

I bought one. Never use it now. Interdental brushes instead. My dentist doesn’t think they do much.

It should be £75, I think it’s on offer at £30.

A Waterpik isn't instead of Tepes but in addition to.

I am a dentist. There is no need to use both. Just use tepes and an electric toothbrush. A waterpik will add nothing.

I'm quite happy with advice from the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, thanks.

I just can’t get on with them with some of my teeth. I can’t fit an orange one in, and the pink ones curve and stab me. Is a waterpik a good idea in that situation?

LightSpeeds · 25/11/2024 20:28

I have a water flosser (not the WaterPik make) and I couldn't be without it.

No amount of brushing gets right between my teeth - even after a thorough brush, lots of food particles are removed with the water flosser 🤢

Garnetcherrycola · 25/11/2024 20:30

I bought one and didn't think much of it. I found it a faff and it hurt a bit/ my gums quite sensitive with it. I am back to using floss now and find it more convenient.

In that case either a Waterpik or floss.

Fayrazzled · 25/11/2024 20:31

I hated it. Was sick of getting covered in water every time I used it. Waste of money for me. I prefer tepe brushes and flossettes.

GameOfJones · 25/11/2024 20:32

I loved mine..... until it took one of my fillings out! I now use it to clean the grout in the shower 🤣

DustyMaiden · 25/11/2024 20:34

I like it , use warm water and do it in the shower.

Eyresandgraces · 25/11/2024 20:34

I have an impacted wisdom tooth and the water pik is the only thing that gets the food out from between it and my molar.

ShesRunningOutTheDoor · 25/11/2024 20:34

Yes I waterpik. The brush. Then floss. Feel all 3 is best for perfect oral hygiene

helpmyback · 25/11/2024 20:41

Yes love it.

FourPanelledDoor · 25/11/2024 20:47

I find mine brilliant - my teeth never felt so clean and it gets out stuff that nothing else has ever been able to manage without shredding my gums and making them bleed.

workstealssleep · 25/11/2024 21:02

They are great. Fill it with warm water and use it in the shower. My hygienist recommended it, and has been impressed with what a good job it does.
