We do a game at Christmas where instead of presents, we do useful gifts in bags for people to win. Things like mango slicers, those cards that double up as ice scrapers, that sort of thing.

Have you bought anything surprisingly useful that you use more than you thought you would that cost under £30 please? I really need some ideas this year!

I treated myself to a proper Swiss Army knife last year and have used it so much, from filling my nails to using the scissors to open sachets of sauce in the pub and the tweezers for splinters plus lots of other things, dh and the kids laughed when I bought it but they're always asking to borrow it.
They also do a card which is handy to keep in your purse, there's a sale on too.

My favourite gadget is a mug & heat pad. Since WFH it’s so handy. Keeps my tea & coffee warm throughout meetings when they previously would go cold. Cost about £13.

What do you use the long handled teaspoons for?

I was also going to say a long handled teaspoon. Ideal if you use large jars of things like jam or mayonnaise as you can reach the bottom without getting it all over your fingers!

A mesh bag for washing your delicates in the washing machine. A microplane grater, a potato ricer.

Imicola · 23/11/2024 19:34

And plug in night lights which are movement triggered to come on when it is dark... handy to see your way to the loo!

A kneeling pad for gardening. A tree saw.

These tea towels incredibly absorbent, really big

Contigo Byron mug best thermal mug I've had, by miles. Often £10 in Tesco, loads of colours on Amazon

These mugs feel great to hold and the shape keeps drinks warm for ages

Packing cubes - bought some earlier in the year from Ikea for £2.50, have since upgraded to sturdier ones.https://shop.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/os-packing-cubes/?sku=5031863991247&gadsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD5LHoA7Nfjqj4-FIzxfLYkgifCio&gclid=CjwKCAiAl4a6BhBqEiwAqvrquhhNiuoKCw5VtSvewV5PJJ8m2BBDrMrzjFyNCXsyq0opRF6nzDBoC6eUQAvD_BwE These are great for outdoorists!

These tea towels look like what I have been looking for but they are so cheap it's difficult to believe they are good quality! ... Think I will order them.! Thanks for the tip x
