I'm just popping down to the 1980s/1990s corner shop. Anybody want anything?

Think I'm going to get a raspberry Panda Pop, a Cadbury Taz bar and hopefully they'll have the latest issue of Sugar magazine.

@Iamthemoom . I remember those cheese snacks. Were they these?

Yes!!! Thank you for repairing my memory! I loved them.

getahhtmapub · 19/11/2024 05:39

Quarter of strawberry bonbons, Mizz magazine, a 10p mix up made up only of those jelly beer bottles and a single cigarette please.

Eastie77Returns · 19/11/2024 05:48

Lovely thread OP. This has taken me back!

Please pick me up some Rainbow Drops, White Mice, Double Dip sherbet, a packet of Fizz Whizz Popping Candy, a Wham Bar, Chewits, Parma Violets and a packet of Refreshers.

And go on, throw in some pickled onion Space Invaders as well.

Think I’ve used up my £1 pocket money.

Spookypoo · 19/11/2024 06:25

I agree what a lovely thread - happily reminiscing with my morning cup of coffee in bed!

I’d like a copy of Just 17 and Jackie magazines and a large box of Terry’s neopolitan chocolates (used to adore these and had forgotten about them until they were mentioned earlier on).

northernsouldownsouth · 19/11/2024 06:59

A box of ricicles for my breakfast with a choking hazard toy hidden inside please

DeanElderberry · 19/11/2024 08:13

I'm assuming it's in Ireland as well as in the 1980s/90s and that I'm not allergic to wheat. I would be grateful for an old-fashioned chewy batch loaf with the thick crust, a jar of that bright orange spreadable cheese, and a few packets of freeze-dried peas (not marrowfats, the ones that end up very like the frozen peas that people with freezers can have).

If on the way back you'd call into the bakers and get me a slice of gur cake, and the veg shop for an ugli fruit I'd be much obliged.

If you'd like to join me for dinner (ugli fruit segments followed by cheese sandwiches, with gur cake for afters) you would be most welcome.

Lovely offer, thank you. And what a... interesting menu. 😁.
Just had to look up what a Gur cake is but it sounds ace.

Can I have a crate of Cresta "It's frothy, man" plus some Opal Fruits? I was only allowed a pack of sweets once a week so would appreciate a dive into type 2 Diabetes via a crate of Cresta.

I know exactly where they are on the shelf, sat right between the Corn Pops and Lucky Charms.

Those were the days when I cycled everywhere, I could eat the carbs.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 19/11/2024 21:58

I’d like a bottle of pop, probably dandelion & burdock!

MrsCatE · 20/11/2024 05:23

Ooh can I add a pack of Razzles to the list?!

MrsCatE · 20/11/2024 07:33

I mean Frazzles - smoky bacon crisps not Porn mag!!!

DeanElderberry · 20/11/2024 07:43

The smoky bacon ones that I and then dog adored were called Rancheros, so a packet of them please.

Deathraystare · 20/11/2024 07:50

Looks like you will be needing a big trolley! No order for me as I was born in 60's , and loved the 70's but not sure what was around in 80's/90's. I vaguely remember a magazine to do with (I think) Radio Luxembourg was it 208?? I did also read Jackie so I guess you can get me a Jackie mag please!

The sweets I do remember may well be from the 70's!

whengodwasarabbit1 · 20/11/2024 08:02

Packet of vice versas please duck
