What film do me and DD10 want to watch tonight?

We always have a movie night on Saturday nights when her brothers go to bed, but tonight we're struggling for inspiration.

I want to watch The Holiday but she says there's too much yucky romance and kissing - does anyone have any suggestions for anything similar that we'll both enjoy?

Freaky Friday
wonka (the new one)

what sort of films do she/ you enjoy?

TickingAlongNicely · 16/11/2024 18:02

Hidden Figures is on Netflix now

RenoDakota · 16/11/2024 18:03

Has she seen Paddington? Or even better, Paddington 2. Really enjoyed watching that with my son when he was about 19!

RenoDakota · 16/11/2024 18:04

Or any of the Nativity films.

4pmfireworks · 16/11/2024 18:05

Enola Holmes?

What sort of movies do you both enjoy? Our all time older faves are Princess Bride, School of Rock, Pride & Prejudice (BBC 6 hr version ofc), Megamind,

Karaokequeenie · 16/11/2024 18:06

I was going to say School of Rock.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 16/11/2024 18:07

Any Paddington, Inside Out 2 or Babe

cavachonqueen0504 · 16/11/2024 18:09

Nanny McPhee is always a good shout. Have to agree with paddington aswell

GoodIsGoodEnough · 16/11/2024 18:12

Pirates of the Caribbean is a current fave here!
Greatest showman
Mamma Mia

Cryingatthegym · 16/11/2024 18:12

Never heard of this but it looks great! Not sure if it might be a bit serious for DD. Enola Holmes looks like a good suggestion too.

She's at that awkward age where she's a bit too young for adult themes but too old for your usual kid films. We've seen School of Rock, Paddington etc.

Some great suggestions, please keep them coming!

We both loved Are You There God It's Me Margaret. Anything along those lines would go down brilliantly.

We were just discussing Paddington in our house. Think that's what we are going for here (Paddington 2)..

Some other great suggestions here also. Though with Freaky Friday I'd have to opt for the Jodie Foster one. Jamie Lee Curtis version is a close second. (Admittedly other other one is ruled out simply due to the fact I've not seem jt)

EatTheBastard · 16/11/2024 18:18

Strictly Ballroom - its available on apple tv

Tadpolecat · 16/11/2024 18:19

Not similar but what 10 year olds (and parents) tend to like:
Spirited away
The Nightmare before christmas

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 16/11/2024 18:20

I was going to suggest Freaky Friday but someone got there before me.

How about Wild Child?

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 16/11/2024 18:23

St Trinian's (2007)

Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron (2002)

Last Christmas! With Emilia Clarke

Hidden Figures is definitely one to watch in the next year or so. Fly away home was something my dc loved (was new thenGrin)

Movie length is the new otter documentary on national geographic (yesterday was premiere), haven't watched it yet but the trailer looked great so I've recorded it.
